Chapter 30

The finals are over!

There were no trick questions and there were no difficult practical skills. With this, I’m sure Adolf and his gang should be fine. Friedrich should also pass without saying.

Anyways, now that the tests are over, we decided to go out and play.

“Everyone! Since the tests are over, let’s go out and play!”

By Everyone, I didn’t mean the members of the Round Table. I’m talking about my classmates Miine-kun, Lotte-kun, and two other girls I get along with recently. Their names are Brigitte-kun and Sandra-kun, both of them daughters of a Viscount.

“That’s a good idea! We have finished our finals, so it’s time to regain our spirits!”

“If Astrid-sama is going, then please let us accompany you.”

Umu, umu. Playing around with the members of the Round Table is nice, but I have to treasure my classmates as well. Especially Miine-kun and Lotte-kun, whom I want to ask to clear the mines called Adolf and Silvio.

“Should it be just the 5 of us?”

“Umm, can I bring my cousin Iris with me? When I told her before Iris said that she wants to come along…”

That’s right. When I told Iris I wanted to go out and play after passing the finals, Iris insisted she wanted to tag along. I don’t mind bringing a first-year students to an outing filled with third-year students, but I couldn’t help but to worry if Iris had managed to find herself a friend in her class or not. I see her talk a lot in the Round Table, but…

“I do not mind. I will be honored to be able to meet Astrid-sama’s cousin.”

“I do not mind as well. By all means, please invite Iris-chan.”

Following Miine-kun and Lotte-kun, Brigitte-kun and Sandra-kun nodded their heads. Ah, what great friends I have.

“Then where should we go?”

“How about taking a stroll around the commercial district, have some tea and go shopping?”

Not bad, not bad. Even if I’m a magic idiot, I’m don’t constantly think about magic. I too have interests in fashion and sweets.

“By the way, I heard there’s a bookstore selling a technical book about magic, but I suppose that is not for us—”

“More details please!”

Whoops, my magic idiot instincts went too far again.

“I…I think the Ackerman bookstore would be good. It has a lot of books, and the fashion books are easy to remember.”

“Aah, that’s nice. I suppose we should also stop by the bookstore. What about confectioneries, where should we go?”

“I heard that the cake from Konditorei1 Zummer are delicious.”

Oooh, cakes. That’s nice. The Round Table had a lot of snacks, but they never really serve cakes. I love cheesecakes and tiramisu, so I wonder if they have something similar. Fufufu.

I think since I’ve been using Blood Magic a lot recently, my metabolism had been running pretty smoothly, so I don’t have to worry about gaining weight…but at the same time, why is my chest not growing……

“Oh, I also want to look at dresses as well. There will be a banquet celebrating my father’s birthday soon, so I want to look for a fashionable dress.”

“Okay~! Let’s all choose Miine-kun’s dress together!”

Aah, I feel like I’m living a good life as a girl right now. I usually would just buy clothes in bulk to get it cheap and the life I have right now is leagues different than the me who would laze about reading a military magazine with a pack of potato chips on the other hand. Right now, I’m the daughter of the Duke. The girl among girls. I’ve graduated from eating junk food and now I’m living my life as a celebrity.

But I might still want to read some military magazines…

Aah, I wonder how Earth’s military affairs going right now.

“Then, where should we meet up?”

“How about in front of the Epenstein Square? There’s no way to get lost there, and we can go there by carriage. There will be a lot of people so it might be difficult for us to find each other, I believe it should be easier if we meet up in front of the Bronze statue.”

“Alright, then let’s meet up in the Epenstein Square in front of the Bronze statue.”

Finally, the plan for our celebration is finished. I can inform Iris about it later on the Round Table, and I’m sure she won’t be lost.

Alright! Let’s spend the weekends playing hard!

The rendezvous time is at 1000 hours, and 10 minutes before that, I was already waiting in front of the Bronze statue in the Epenstein square. Speaking of which, this bronze statue…is really indescribable. I’m sure the person who came up with it thought of something, but it’s really a questionable idea. If they were to title it, I guess they should call it “image of someone who thought of something”.

By the way, I’ve known this place since long ago. I mean, this place appears in the game. The back end of this person who thought of something is used as the meeting point for the heroine and the capture targets when they were going on date, and the heroine can then choose where to go for their date. That’s why I’m familiar with the face of this person who thought of something. It’s the first time I’ve met him face-to-face though.

As I opened my parasol while waiting, a cute voice exclaiming “Onee-sama!” echoed from nearby.

“Aah, Iris. Full of energy as always, aren’t you?”

“Yes! I was really looking forward to having an outing with onee-sama!”

Haa, why is she so cute…

“It’s not just me today, though, my friends will be here too. Is that okay?”

“It’s okay. I have been interacting with everyone from the Round Table, so I think I can interact with other people better.”

Oh Round Table. I intended to keep you at an arm’s length at the start, but it turns out you were useful all along. I see you in a more positive light now.

“Good day to you, Astrid-sama.”

“Good day to you, Miine.”

After that, Miine and the rest arrived at the meeting place in time.

“Is she Iris-chan?”

“That’s right. Isn’t she cute? Iris, let me introduce you, from the right is Miine, Lotte, Brigitte and Sandra. They are all my classmates.” I said, introducing my classmates to Iris.

“I-I am pleased to meet you. I am Iris…”

Ah, so she ended up hiding behind my back after all. I guess her shyness isn’t fully cured.

“How cute. Pleased to meet you, Iris-chan.”

“She soothes my soul~”

I guess they too knows that she’s the daughter of the Braunschweig family, so they didn’t circle around Iris like the Round Table members do, but I’m glad that her cuteness can still be conveyed anyways. As her elder sister, I am very proud.

“Very well, where shall we go to first?”

“How about the Ackerman bookstore? After that we can stroll around the commercial district. Then we can visit Konditorei Zummer around noon before picking Miine-san’s dress. If we have some spare time, we can freely look at any other stores” Lotte-kun suggested in response to Miine-kun’s question. Seems like Lotte-kun is very methodical.

“Alright, let’s go to the bookstore!”

The six of us headed for the commercial district in high spirits. First stop, Ackerman bookstore.

“Oh? Isn’t this the book Iris is reading?”

“Ah, yes. The Prince and the Little Bird. It is a very interesting story.”

Iris borrowed a children’s book from the library to read in the Round Table sometimes. Seems like she really loves Märchen. She hasn’t started reading love stories though, either because that’s not her favorite or romance is just too early for her.

“Astrid-sama, I recommend this book for you. It’s very romantic.”

“Ooh, feels like a book for grown-ups, isn’t it…”

What Lotte-kun recommended was a romance novel with a slight adult feel to it. That’s interesting. It’s about the romance between a noble and a daughter of another nobility with an age gap, so for someone who wishes for a romantic opportunity with Bernhardt-sensei, it’s something I’m really interested in.

“I think I’ll buy it…”

“By all means, please read it. I assure you it would not be a waste of your time.”

A shred of romance or two wouldn’t be so bad even for a magic idiot like me.

Just as I was thinking that,

“Miss Astrid?”

Huh?

“Bernhardt-sensei? Why are you here?”

“I was…looking for materials for the class. How about you, miss Astrid?”

I met the person I expected to meet the least. The person I was daydreaming about when talking about that romance novel appears right in front of me. Is this…fate?

“Bernhardt-sensei, should I help you if you’re looking for materials?”

“Since it’s the weekends, miss Astrid and her friends should enjoy their holidays.”

Gaaah…

I thought it was fate, but he rejected me flatly…

“B-Bernhardt-sensei, how was the high school department?”

“It’s so-so. I was flustered at the start, but the more I get used to it, those guys gradually…”

Bernhardt-sensei said so with longing eyes. Are the students really that hard to deal with…?

I’m still a third-year elementary student, but when I get to high school, would I be that hard to deal with too? I guess teachers have it hard both in this world and on earth.

“Astrid-sama, there’s a shelf for this month’s recommended books.”

“Okay, I’ll be right there. Bernhardt-sensei, good luck on your search for materials! I shall excuse myself!”

I like him quite a lot right now, but for an adult male to be romantically involved with an 8-year-old, he’d be branded a lolicon.

As I parted with Bernhardt-sensei, I looked at the recommended books on the recommended shelves. In the end I bought the book Lotte-kun recommended for me.

By the way, Iris chose to buy a children’s literary book. If you read a lot of books you’ll get wiser, so you should read a lot, Iris.

Next up, it’s time for us to go around the commercial district.

As we walked around, I could see a girl around my age holding a basket on her hands in front of me. I don’t know who she is, but I feel like I’ve seen her somewhere. Is she actually…?

As I see the girl walking, I see a man coming from the other direction. It doesn’t seem like the man notices the girl, so if this keeps up…!

“Kyaah!”

“Get out the fucking way, brat!”

The two collided onto each other.

The girl fell to her knees while the man continued on and ran away.

“That girl…she’s really…”

“Astrid-sama!?”

I enhanced my strength with Blood Magic and leaped towards the running man and delivered a roundhouse kick towards the man’s back. Calm down, I only did it in moderation, so you don’t have to worry.

“Bwegh…! The man lets out an unintelligible groan as he collapses and pieces of jewelries spill out from his chest pocket.

“Aah! He’s down already!”

As I brought down my hammer of justice upon the man, another man in his middle age came rushing from behind me, completely out of breath.

“You were chasing after this man?”

“He was a jewel thief. He entered our store and stole our jewelries when I wasn’t looking. Oh, wait, aren’t you Duke Oldenburg’s…?”

“Astrid. I’m glad to be of help. I shall excuse myself.”

“W-wait, I have to repay you—!”

The owner of the jewelry store seemed like he was saying something, but I made a beeline for the crouching girl.

“Are you okay?”

“Y-Yes, I’m okay.”

No you’re not. You’ve scraped your knees and everything.

“Hold still”, I said. I then piled my hands on top of the girl’s knees and started to cast Blood Magic. Not for cursing nor physical enhancement, but for healing.

“Aah, is this Blood Magic?”

“Yes. Should I just leave you to do it yourself?”

To my question, the girl showed a faint smile. There’s no doubt about it. This girl is…

“Can I have your name?”

“I am Elza. Elza Eckert. I work for the bakery.”

I knew it. Elza Eckert, the heroine of Wish Upon a Shooting Star. She’s nothing but a commoner working at her home that is a bakery, but she’s a girl that has a higher mana potential than I do. Valuing that huge mana pool, the academy invited her to attend high school. She’s actually the daughter of Duke Conrad Franken and his wife Judith, which is a duchy that surpasses the history of the Oldenburg family. That’s why she’s so strong magically and socially.

The reason she’s working as a commoner in a bakery is because the family of Konrad’s wife, Judith, is not a highly ranked noble lineage, hence why Konrad’s father Otto decided that if the firstborn was a boy, he can be wedded to another nobility while if it’s a girl, he ordered would order them to send her away.

Elza was that firstborn. Fearing the cancellation of their marriage, the child was given to a commoner, and later on, Konrad promised he would reclaim Elza to succeed the Franken lineage when Otto passes away, and that is supposed to happen during my day of destruction, the graduation ceremony of my high school.

Knowing that fact gave me a lot of heads up. The Astrid in the game didn’t know about any of these and kept pestering the heroine, bullying her for her status as a commoner, and because of that, she ended up facing her destruction.

But I know of her lineage, so I wouldn’t be so stupid as to fall into that trap. I should really gain her favor and evade my destruction end.

Fuhehe, where does it hurt, little lady?

Well anyways, the heroine’s specialty is supposedly Healing-type Blood Magic, so even if I use my own Blood Magic to heal her, it might be meaningless anyways.

“Thank you very much. Can I have your name, please?”

“Astrid. Astrid Sophie von Oldenburg. Nice to meet you,” I said, replying to her modest question.

“Astrid-sama, what happened?”

“There’s a girl I was concerned about, so I went to talk to her. I’ll be with you in a second.”

Knowing that I’m a noble caused her brain to short-circuit and space out, but I couldn’t concern myself with Elza for too much at this point. I can start gaining her favor when she enrolled into the academy. Right now, I just need to enjoy my holiday with Iris and my classmates.

…It’ll be such a problem if Miine-kun ended up saying something like “you lowly commoner” or something like that. She’s usually a very kind girl but I guess nobles have their own prides.

“Alright, shall we go have some lunch? I’m looking forward to the cakes.”

“Me too!”

I’m starting to get used to Iris and my friends’ smiles.

Alright then, let’s eat those cakes and get to picking Miine-kun’s dress.
