Chapter 108 - Falling Ill (3)

“Him and his mother,” said Nie ChengFeng with no hesitation. “For the purpose of murdering Huo YanXiao so he can’t walk away with one penny.”

Father Nie nodded, “I have always felt that there was more to ZiMing. He was never as kind as the front that he put up. I thought I was wrong about it, but judging from this…”

“The truth is, Huo YanXiao is well aware of the fact that Qin ZiMing and Mrs. Qin are plotting against him,” said Nie ChengFeng with a complicated look. “Otherwise, he wouldn’t have rushed into marrying AnAn.”

“What does it have to do with him marrying AnAn”?’ Mother Nie was baffled.

“AnAn had shown me the property settlement that they had signed after their wedding,” said Nie ChengFeng, enunciating one word at a time. “If anything happens to him, she will receive all of his assets from before and after the marriage.”

The living room went silent for a little because of what Nie ChengFeng had just said.

In the silence, Mother Nie looked up and saw Nie AnAn standing behind Nie ChengFeng.

She still had her rubber gloves on. Her eyes rounded and she was looking at everyone inside the living room.

One could tell from her look that she had just heard all of their conversation.

“AnAn…” Mother Nie wanted to explain.

Nie AnAn cut her off. “Mom, did something happen to Big Brother?”

Mother Nie felt a pang of sadness, but she nodded and said, “We saw on the news that he had contracted some sort of virus. He is now being quarantined in the hospital.”

She left out the ICU part but she worried that Nie AnAn wouldn’t be able to handle it.

After all, he had been with her for many years. She trusted that Nie AnAn felt closer to Huo YanXiao than to her blood relatives.

“AnAn, that’s just what they are saying in the news.” Nie ChengFeng turned around and placed his hands on AnAn’s shoulder. “I will have someone look into it. You stay home and don’t go anywhere.”

Nie AnAn’s fingers tightened. Water dripped down from her rubber gloves and formed a small puddle on the floor. She took a deep breath and nodded, “Okay. I won’t be going anywhere.”

Before her Big Brother left, he had told her specifically that no matter what happened, no matter what was said in the media, no matter who said what to her, do not believe in anything that she didn’t hear from him directly.

She didn’t believe that he would still be injected with the viruses when he was prepared. She also did not believe that, as smart as he was, he would make the same mistake again after knowing everything.

Yes, she had already figured it out when he left.

He was rebirthed.

Because he was rebirthed, he looked at her with disgust when she first transmigrated over.

And because he was rebirthed, he knew about his real identity and that his enemies would be using viruses on him.

So, he wouldn’t die!

As much as she kept telling herself that, her eyes reddened nonetheless.

She tried hard to force her tears back. She took a deep breath and carried on busying herself with what she needed to get done.

She would wait for him in Capital City. She had just married him. They would not be separated by death right away.

Nie AnAn went back into the kitchen to finish her cooking. Watching at the fire dancing up from the stove, her lips curved upward slowly.

It looked like the author did write extras on Huo YanXiao.

His extras was his rebirth.

He got to do it over again and change his own fate.

He would not let ZiMing and his mother murder him again. Everything that he had done was within the limits of the law. He was a colder person, but he didn’t do anything bad. Even back when he couldn’t even clothe and feed himself, he provided a roof over the original owner’s head.

Someone like him should not have an ending like the one he had before.
