Derek also woke up with a massive headache and took two tablets of aspirin as well. He headed straight to office wearing a navy blue suit looking dashingly cold as usual. Jason on the other hand, arrived office with his shirt half tucked in, messy hair and a toothbrush in one hand and a coffee in the other hand. Lee corps workers are used to this sight of him.

They made a guess that the boss must have gave him some last minute task last night causing him to be in this state. Suddenly, they don't feel envious with Jason anymore whenever they get to glimpse the hard life Jason lead. Many were envious with Jason because no one else gets to get close with the boss except for Jason. Jason and the boss were college roommates and ended up working together. Initially, Derek felt Jason was super annoying because he stuck to Derek like a glue. After a few occasions when Jason prove he was a good friend and useful, only then Derek warmed up to him but he made Jason undergo martial art training and weapon handling with him. He refused to allow Jason become another Michael.

Jason is slightly shorter than Derek by 3 cm. Derek's height is about 183cm. Jason if he stood on his own, people will find him good looking and attractive but when he stood beside Derek, his existence will be forgotten because Derek's presence has this magnetic effect.

Jason rushed to the elevator only to bump into a lady rushing in as well. The force from crashing into her almost cause his coffee to spill over, luckily his reflexes were fast because of the martial arts training. "Lady, you are new? Next time look where you're going" Jason said grumpily. Whenever he lacks sleep, his grumpy side would come out. Jess who was about to blurt out an apology swallowed those words in and glared at him.

"It was you who didn't see where you're going. Are you sure you work here? You look like some homeless guy who decided to turn up for work."Jess retorted. After she blurted out those words, she realised that the people that were in the elevator with them were looking at her with weird expressions. Initially they had a shocked expression followed by pity. Jess, Jess, you need to do something about this temper of yours. She reprimanded herself silently. She felt shy all of the sudden and decided to turn around and face the elevator door. Jason on the other hand was shocked as well that someone dared to answer him rudely and then blatantly ignored him. He then took a good look at the lady who is now trying her hardest to vanish into thin air.

His lips curves into a smile. Interesting, quite pretty looking, nice ass, has curves at the right place, and feisty, really interesting, he murmured to himself. All right, I will be a gentleman and let it slide lady, he conversed in his head. He then remembered he had not press the elevator button for his intended floor. He stuck the toothbrush inside his mouth and reached over to press the button but in order to do that he had to cross Jess. Jess who was standing as still as possible sensed Jason's sudden movement and was about to reproach him when she felt his hot breath on her left ear and his hand went past her body to press the elevator button.

His movements were smooth and quick. That hot sensation was replaced by a gush of cold air and subconsciously she touched her ear. If it wasn't for the lighted number she would have thought his actions just now was just her wild imagination. She looked around the elevator and found that everyone else acted as if they were busy in their own world. At the corner of her eyes, she scrutinized the man that made her morning so chaotic. Tall, wavy hair, cleft chin, lean body and good looking. He reminded her of that actor George Young.

Judging by the reactions she received just now when she criticized him, he must have hold an important position in this company. She sighed internally because she really needed this job as to pay for her brother's school fees. She is feeling regretful that she could not control that temper of hers. She is thankful that he didn't retort back nor provoke her further. He just treated like he didn't hear those words. The people that were in the elevator was left disappointed because they don't mind some early morning drama.

He smiled internally when he saw her touched her left earlobe. Since he was heading to the top floor, everyone else has left except for her. "This is your first day right? I have never seen you before? Where are you reporting?" He asked. His mood seems to improve after their altercation. "I am reporting to C.E.O Lee, he asked me to meet him at 8 sharp this morning." Jason scratched his head in confusion. Eh, Derek did not mention about hiring someone new. Ting! His train of thought vanished as they arrived the top floor.

Jason gestured Jess to enter Derek's office first. Jess after receiving the signal from the man inside, entered the cold office and waited for the man who was seating in the seat to look up. Jason entered without knocking nor did he wait for any signal from the man inside. Jess was already silently cursing her luck. She must have offended this man right hand man. Derek sensing the presence of people in his office stopped what he was doing and looked up. "You look like shit. Why do you purposely come to work like this? You want to show others I don't treat you well is it?" Derek said to Jason, ignoring Jess presence. Jess on the other hand inhaled sharply, such a gorgeous guy. Such a pity he has such a cold demeanor. She unconsciously shivered in her seat.

"Yeah, mission accomplished. You know how many people envied my job, so once in awhile I have to show them that working with you the demon is definitely not fun. Like this I get to keep my job secured." Jason said while laughing. "By the way, I want to freshen myself first, I worked my ass off for you last night and didn't get much sleep. This is the report you wanted" He placed the report on Derek's table and was about to leave and then he remembered Jess existence.

"Why do you need her?" Jason pointed at Jess. Jess was sweating cold sweats when she heard Jason asking Derek so casually. She regretted being impulsive. No wonder those people pitied me. She gulped her saliva a few times before she muster the courage to speak but before she could do that she heard Derek's deep voice. "She is for you. Now that you have met her, take her with you. You've been complaining you lack rest and you had too much to handle. So I got an assistant for my assistant. Now, leave."

Jess was bewildered with the turns of event. She saw Jason gesturing her to follow his lead with a smirk on his face. This is going to be fun, Jason mused to himself. With that they left Derek alone.

Derek quickly reached the envelope containing the report he had been waiting for. Inside was a comprehensive information about Matriach Lu, April Lu and Jade Lu. He opened the file of April first and when he saw her picture, he knew the person he was looking for was Jade. He closed that file and went straight for Jade's file. After reading her report he was conflicted. No wonder she had those nightmare. Her childhood was no better than mine. At least I had 9 good years before things were bad. She has Asperger's? He decided he need to read up on Asperger's to get a better understanding of Jade. At the same time, he was overcome with a desire, a strong desire to protect her. He hugged himself again reliving the feeling of having her in his embrace.
