That night Jade and Derek slept peacefully. Derek was too tired to claim his raincheck after all the last minute thorough and meticulous planning. His only regret was he did not manage to play the music instrument himself. He decided he will need to brush up on his guitar skills and learn to play at least 2 songs he plans to sing on their wedding day. Because of the time constraints, he requested Jason to help him out with the wedding preparations. Jade had no objections when Derek suggested they wed this Saturday.

Jade wanted a simple Catholic church wedding, she became a Christian convert during her university years. Since she wanted a church wedding and Derek is a Buddhist, tomorrow they have to meet the priest as well as attend pre-Cana. It is an educational and maturing process for married life. Pre-Cana can take place over six months or an intensive weekend course and is mandatory for Catholics wishing to get married. Since they want to get married this Saturday, they have to discuss with priest if they can have an intensive weekday course instead. She wanted without mass Catholic wedding ceremony. Since they will be busy with the church, Derek handed over most things for Jason to handle.

Jade called Aileen to inform that she won't be coming in till the weekend. She informed her to mail her all her pending works and proposal that needs approval. Jade also received an update from James, her father's assistant at the workplace, that her father had not been reporting in for duty for nearly a week and was difficult to get hold off. This is not an unusual occurrence but this time it was the longest. At least previously, he attempted to get his work completed. Due to his disappearance, most of his works are piling up. Jade was about to tell him to send it all to her via email but stop short as Chris crossed her mind. "James, I'll call you back in awhile."

"Hello, Chris. Free to talk?" "Eh, Jade?" "Yes, speaking. I'll get straight to the point, do you want to do some form of internship? Your mentor will be Director Pua. It will look good on your résumé once you apply for the position in another few months and it'd add on values to your academic performance and might help you snag the top spot. How about it? I do not know if you'd heard that your father had not been reporting in to work, based on the rumours I've been hearing, I'd doubt that he will be returning to work anytime soon, for the period he is not around, would you like to try out his position but of course under the guidance on Director Pua. You are allowed to decide things on your own but you need to discuss your plans with him, if he approves then the plan will go ahead but if he doesn't then the two of you need to present a written proposal and present it during board meeting. How does that sound?"

"Sis, why me? Why are you being nice to me? Do you have ulterior motives?" "Why don't you ask yourself that question? The conversation I had with your father that day, I knew you were eavesdropping. However, I meant every words I said back then. You have great potential, I'd be dumb to turn my back on you. If only your morals are better, I am sure you'll be a good leader soon. As for ulterior motive, I only need the best of the best to run beside me in improving the business that Mama handed down. Many people's livelihood is in our hands, don't ever forget that. You need time to think it over? Oh, now I recall I do have ulterior motive, I am lazy of picking up after your father, I am overwhelmed with work that I don't want to do his work. This is me being selfish but at the same time I make use of this opportunity to see personally what you can offer."

"What if I seize control of the company one day? What would you do?" "Silly, if you are capable, go ahead, only the capable should lead provided the new leader cares about those people that he is leading livelihoods." Jade thought that is as much of a hint she can give that she don't care about who handle the company as long as it is in good hands.

"Sis, you mean it?" "When have I ever lie?" Chris was silent for awhile before he spoke. "I agree to the internship. When do I start?" "Good. Tomorrow come in when you are free, report duty to James and Director Pua. Send in your timetable to them so that they can arrange the time for you to clock in. You should continue attending classes as usual. You need your credit hours. All the best, don't make me regret my decision."

"Sis, thank you. I am sorry for hating you all these years, I have been blinded by hatred. Thanks for the wake up call. I will work hard to prove to you my abilities. I had threatened Aileen that day for my own personal benefit and I am quite sure you are in the know, but I need to let it out because you being nice to me makes me feel guilty."

"Let bygones be bygones if you are truly sincere. Prove your worth to everyone and gain their respects yourself. I am only giving you an opening and a chance to shine, whether you shine bright or become dull is all up to you. By the way, please make it an official internship by sending in the internship application form. Text me your email address and I'll email it to you right after I hang up." She hung up. Everything felt so surreal to Chris, he could not believe that Jade had given him such a big chance and most importantly he believed her because Jade has always been straightforward and true to her words, the reason why people resent her and think she is tactless. He rather take a gamble with her than his scheming family. He printed the internship form that he received from Jade, filled the form up carefully and carried out all the necessary stuffs that were required of him.
