YueChen was elated. Although their first meeting was kind of weird, at least he got a friend. Even if the god didn't want to admit it.

For almost twelve years, Yang YueChen never had an actual proper friend. Most people came and go, only to pity him and stay for a while. They leave once they knew him better.

YueChen never understood why. His social circle was extremely limited. People acted as if he didn't exist. That's why he just accept Yuan Ji as a companion, regardless of his true intentions.

And on the weekend night, he got the answer.

["I'm guessing that you're a 'ghost'"] Yuan Ji declared confidently. He had observed the adolescent for about three days, since the fall. And Yuan Ji was rather satisfied with himself.

"What?" YueChen craned his neck to the side, too lazy to sit up properly.

["You lacked spiritual energy, often treated like invisible, are you hearing voices too?"] The god listed what seemed to be proof to his guess.

"I'm hearing voices, right. But it's yours. Does that count too?" YueChen fought the urge to roll his eyes. The past days passed like hell coated with sugar, Yuan Ji wouldn't shut his mouth and kept rambling about things. Still, YueChen was glad that at least the god tried to help.

["Maybe. Who knows?"] Yuan Ji rubbed his chin thoughtfully. ["And you are able to be possessed by spiritual beings..."]

The boy frowned, "What does that means? You weren't supposed to possess me?"

["That was an accident. A fortunate one, though."] Now YueChen couldn't suppress the urge.

'You mean, an unfortunate accident, dearest god?'

["Hey!"]

The boy's eyes widened at that moment. "You can hear thoughts?—"

["Of course. What makes you think I can't?"]

....

What a sly fox!

YueChen's head mostly consisted complicated, abnormal, weird, sometimes brilliant thoughts and ideas. All of them were cramped in the same place Yuan Ji stayed in. Since the other didn't comment about his thoughts, YueChen originally assumed that Yuan Ji couldn't hear thoughts.

The latter proved him wrong with that snickering. Fortunately, YueChen's mind hadn't been that amoral, or else it'd be awkward.

"Why didn't you tell?" He gritted his teeth.

["I assumed that you knew by the moment I stepped into your head. I never expected that you're this dense."] Yuan Ji nonchalantly answered, his tone seemed to accuse YueChen for not noticing.

The boy, on the other hand, decided that fighting wasn't a way to pass the night. He inquired the other few things he wanted to know, and answering the deity's questions.

"How old are you? I'm thirteen."

["1600 years old, I think. I forgot."]

"You sure lived a long life."

["Yeah. Call me Gege, will you?"]

"No. I prefer calling you A-Ji."

["How rude. I'm a god, not another petty mortal."]

"You can just call me YueChen or something."

["No. Dimwit is better."]

"...."

["What?"]

"Nothing."

....

["Say, do you have any friends?"]

YueChen sucked a breath, "No."

["For how long?"]

"Twelve years. I'm terrible in making acquaintances."

[".... Let's drop that topic for now."]

"Tell me some tales then."

["Hmm?"]

"You're a god, living a really long life. It's not possible that you don't know a single interesting thing, right?"

Yuan Ji became quiet. It was almost as if he suddenly disappeared.

["It's the problem. I only remember the early parts in my life. The recent incidents right before my banishment were lost."]

"That means... you.. don't know why you were casted out?"

["Yeah... Although there's a possibility that they banished me because of my character."]

"I felt sorry for them for having you around. What a great solution to finish all the troubles and suffering you've caused."

["I hope so..."]

There're still too many questions to be answered... and their time wasn't that long to discover the reason of the banishment.
