Well, that took care of one unfinished business. I said I will kill him myself. And I did it. Now, I wonder what else is waiting for me.
After getting rid of the prince, I search for another scent to follow. I finally manage to find another scent after snipping for almost twenty minutes.
I follow the scent and find myself on some kind of square. And what I saw surprised a crap out of me. Scent I though belonged to werewolf was actually coming from an elf. Male elf. Black hair long hair, pointy ears and unnecessarily pretty.
Well, I'm fine since he is pretty not handsome. Thus, I will call you 'trap'. Hehe.
"A human? Here?"
He looks to me and asks.
"Yeah. You got problem with that?"
"Why would I have problem with a corpse?"
Hmm, prick with his nose up his you know what. Good thing he is a man. I won't feel anything when I kill him.
"I though this place was full of werewolves. What are you doing here, tree hugger?"
"Every living thing in this city is cursed with the ancient curse. I'm no exception either. What I find interesting is that you lowly human managed to make it this far in this dungeon."
It's like every word that comes out of his mouth is aimed to piss me off. But according to him, he will turn into werewolf too. But seeing that he is in his natural form, I can safely assume he is a lycan.
"So, are you gonna transform into big wolf and rip me apart?"
"I don't need to transform to step on a bug."
"Tsk."
I guess I need to make him taste some pain to make him talk politely. The fucking tree hugger brings out a wooden bow from who knows where, nocks his arrow and aims at me.
"Any last word, moving target?"
That's it.
"Fenrir."
Like always, my little one jumps out of my shadow and shoots a beam of dark energy toward the elf. And at the same time elf releases his arrow. The beam and the arrow collide midair and for some reason, arrow is resisting the beam.
While Fenrir's beam and the elf's arrow face each other, elf walk to the side, draws another arrow and aims at Fenrir.
Whoosh.
Arrow flies toward Fenrir. Just as it was about to hit Fenrir, his shadow wriggles, dark tentacle comes out of his shadow and catches the arrow.
Seeing that his arrows won't have much of result, the elf decides to approach it from close quarter. He brings out dual dagger that was hanging on his sides and run toward Fenrir.
It seems he believe he can defeat Fenrir in close combat. Naïve idiot. Fenrir simply looks at the elf and waits patiently. And the elf just keeps running at Fenrir with his daggers crossed.
He jumps and slashes at Fenrir. Fenrir simply raises his claws and swipes at the elf before the elf reached him. And just like my mana wave, Fenrir's claws release a mana slash and hits the elf.
Elf manages to block two of the four slashes, get slashed by the other two and falls to the ground.
"I guess that is it. Talk about anticlimactic."
But Fenrir learns things way too fast. The elf is still alive. He stands up and starts to shiver and grow bigger. I guess he is transforming. In his elf form he is about 1.7 meters tall, now he looks almost 2.1 meters tall. Quite a growth.
Pitch-black fur like his hair color. I wonder if blonde dude transform, will his fur get blonde too? And after finishing his transformation the elf-lycan looks toward us. And there is no longer intelligence in his eyes. Just savagery like the ones before.
Still, he managed to retain his elf form. And transformed to lycan after losing consciousness. I think this transformation is more of a self-defense mechanism. If he transforms while conscious, I'm sure he will have reason. But whatever.
"Kill him. I'm sure we can find another conscious one around here to ask few questions."
Fenrir nods at me and melds into his own shadow. The lycan searches for Fenrir for a while and turn his attention to me since he couldn't locate Fenrir.
GRR!
He growls at me and charges at me. No reason and not even instinct. Previous ones at least had an instinct to think before attacking me. So, my guess is: transforming out of self-defense kind of robs them of many things.
Anyway, just as he was about to enter my range, Fenrir jumps out of his shadow and swipes with his claws and cuts him in to two. His body falls to the ground in two parts and dissipates.
Hmm, he didn't turn back to elf before dissipating. This dungeon is so confusing. After getting rid of the elf, I search for another scent to follow and find one. I leave the square and head upward the street toward the castle.
Main street is quite spacious. And while walking I encounter the source of the smell. Lycan with silver fur. But it looks different. Well, first it's wearing armor and holding a sword in its arm. Second, how should I say it: its body structure looks different from ones before.
More compact, more agile. Its every move is calculated. And fourth and most important of all is that: there is a light in its eyes. Light of sentience.
It looks toward me after walking to the middle of the street.
"Hello."
Yup. It talks to me.
"Hello. Good afternoon."
"How do you know it's afternoon?"
"Well, frankly I guessed."
"Hmm, interesting guest."
"You yourself interest me greatly, too."
"And since you are here, I assume that Ettrian is dead?"
"You can if Ettrian is black haired elf that was in the square."
"Indeed. If you managed to kill Ettrian and make it here, that means you must be human of tremendous capability."
"Thanks for the compliment dude. But unfortunately, I can't say the same for your friend or you."
"Oh, Ettrian wasn't my friend. Almost everyone hated him. He was an arrogant prick."
"Indeed, he was."
"So, I suppose I need to kill you to progress."
"If you can."
"Oh, I know I can."
"Funny man. Pity I need to kill you."
"Okay. That is reasonable. But before we get into all this killing, can I ask you few questions?"
"Well, I won't deny man's dying wish."
