Da Ming Sheng hid her happiness. Da Tian Ting was out of the picture, and Shang Duan Hua belonged to her. She was grateful Da Tian Ting caught her and Shang Duan Hua in bed. She never wanted to see Shang Duan Hua and Da Tian Ting get married. She wanted to be the legitimate Mrs Shang.
‘Duan Hua, how are you going to tell your father?’ Da Qing Feng asked. ‘Do you think your father will give his company to you?’
Da Qing Feng was stuck between his daughter and his niece. Whoever he didn’t support would be hurt.
‘Tian Ting said she would call of the engagement,’ Shang Duan Hua said.
‘You know how to cut a person without a knife,’ Da Qing Feng said. ‘How selfish are you? You hurt Tian Ting yet you want her to take the fall. I love my daughter and my niece. If it’s my daughter you want to marry then I won’t get in the way. You don’t need me to tell you what a lowlife man you are. Don’t ever think that I want a selfish and heartless bastard like you to be my son-in-law.’
‘Da Qing Feng, watch what you’re saying,’ Ning Kan said.
Da Qing Feng didn’t want to see his wife, daughter or the sly Shang Duan Hua. He walked to his bedroom, and closed the door.
Shang Duan Hua thought Da Qing Feng was right to hate him. When Da Tian Ting was shocked and heartbroken to see him in bed with Da Qing Feng, he didn’t pity Da Tian Ting, he only selfishly thought about his freedom.
‘Duan Hua, don’t take my dad’s words to heart,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘Dad loves big sister so he’s angry on her behalf.’
Da Ming Sheng didn’t care about Da Tian Ting. She only cared about Shang Duan Hua not changing his mind about marrying her.
‘Duan Hua, Ming Sheng is right,’ Ning Kan said. ‘I hate the way her dad loves Tian Ting more than he loves Ming Sheng. It’s better for Tian Ting to suffer now then suffer later. Forget about them. It’s Ming Sheng you love. You and Ming Sheng only need to think about your happy future together.’
Ning Kan knew her daughter was worried Shang Duan Hua would change his mind because of her husband’s insults.
‘Aunty, don’t worry,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘I’ve already forgotten uncle’s words.’
Shang Duan Hua thought Ning Kan was right too. It was better for Da Tian Ting to suffer before marrying him than suffering after marrying him. He did the right thing by getting Da Tian Ting to end their engagement, and let her find her own happiness.
‘Duan Hua, let’s take pre-wedding photos tomorrow,’ Da Ming Sheng said.
Shang Duan Hua nodded his head. He needed to get rid of the bit of guilt he felt. He shouldn’t regret his decision. He told himself it was Da Ming Sheng he wanted to marry, and not Da Tian Ting.
