Feng Kai Ze stopped the car on the bridge, and rushed out of his car.
‘Tian Ting!’ Feng Kai Ze called.
‘Save me!’ Da Tian Ting screamed.
Feng Kai Ze jumped into the lake, and swam to Da Tian Ting.
Da Tian Ting didn’t know how to swim. The cold water helped to sober her. She wasn’t ready to see her father yet.
Every time Da Tian Ting screamed for help, she swallowed water. The moment the lake submerged her body, she realised how precious life was.
Under the lake surface, Da Tian Ting ran out of air. She closed her eyes. She told herself that if she survived that night, she wouldn’t waste her life pining over a man who didn’t love her or be sad because of people who didn’t understand her.
Da Tian Ting felt someone’s arms held her waist, and their mouth breathed air into her mouth.
Feng Kai Ze held onto Da Tian Ting’s waist, and pulled her body to land.
Da Tian Ting opened her eyes. She saw a blurry face of a man. She didn’t know who the man was, but she knew it wasn’t Shang Duan Hua.
On land Feng Kai Ze’s hands pressed below Da Tian Ting’s chest until she threw up water.
A crowd surrounded Da Tian Ting and Feng Kai Ze. A person from the crowd called an ambulance.
The paramedics quickly arrived at the scene. They wanted to carry Da Tian Ting into the ambulance, but Feng Kai Ze refused to let go of Da Tian Ting.
‘What do you want?’ Feng Kai Ze asked.
‘We need to take the patient to the hospital,’ a paramedic said.
Feng Kai Ze snapped out of his panic. He carried Da Tian Ting into the ambulance and the paramedics took them to the hospital.
Feng Kai Ze finally found Da Tian Ting after sixteen years. He wasn’t going to let her leave their world.
