Da Tian Ting walked outside of her former manager’s office. Each step she took felt like she wore shoes that weighed a tonne. She lost her fiance, why did she lose her job too?
Da Tian Ting wanted to cry while she packed her belongings on her desk. She had worked at the same company since she graduated.
‘Tian Ting, are you OK?’ Ding Xiao Ran asked.
Lam Ling had circulated the news around the office about Da Tian Ting being forced to resign.
‘I’m good,’ Da Tian Ting lied.
Da Tian Ting cried on the inside, and smiled on the outside. She didn’t want to cry in front of her former colleagues.
‘Tian Ting, everyone here is on your side,’ Ding Xiao Ran said. ‘We all know you’re a hard worker. It’s unfair you’re being forced to resign without a legitimate reason.’
‘Xiao Ran, you should go back to work,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘I don’t want manager Ma to fire you because of me. Don’t worry about me. I’ll consider this as an overdue holiday.’
Ding Xiao Ran didn’t go back to her desk. She helped Da Tian Ting pack, and followed Da Tian Ting outside.
On the way out, Da Tian Ting overheard her former colleagues gossiped about her.
‘It’s unfair a hard worker like Tian Ting is dismissed,’ the first employee said.
‘Perhaps Tian Ting is the person who offended an executive from Feng’s company,’ the second employee said.
‘That’s a plausible conspiracy,’ the first employee said.
