Since the day Da Qing Feng gave the box to Da Tian Ting, she disappeared without a trace. He called her phone to ask her if she was coping living on her own, but her phone was switched off. He went to visit her at Tian Chen’s company, and found out she lost her job.
In contrast, Shang Duan Hua and Da Ming Sheng were busy preparing for their wedding day. He asked her if Da Tian Ting contacted her or visited her home, she said Da Tian Ting didn’t contact her since Da Tian Ting’s last visit to her family home. He should be happy Da Tian Ting was out of his life, but he felt like he lost something.
‘Duan Hua, today is your wedding day,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘You shouldn’t look gloomy. You need to smile.’
‘Mum, I’m just nervous,’ Shang Duan Hua said.
Shang Duan Hua told himself not to think about Da Tian Ting on his wedding day with Da Ming Sheng.
‘Duan Hua, you’re a thirty-year-old man,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘You need to toughen up.’
‘Mum, it doesn’t matter how old I am,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘This is my first time being a groom. It’s normal for me to be nervous.’
‘Since you’re the groom, smile for your wedding guests,’ Lam Shu Pan said.
‘Yes mum,’ Shang Duan Hua said.
Shang Ming was preoccupied on the phone, which made Lam Shu Pan frustrated.
‘Shang Ming, today is our son’s wedding,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Business can wait, and stop frowning.’
‘It’s not business,’ Shang Ming said. ‘Tian Ting’s phone is still switched off. I’m worried something happened to her.’
‘Shang Ming, if you mention Da Tian Ting’s name again then don’t come to the wedding,’ Lam Shu Pan warned.
‘Today is meant to be Tian Ting and Duan Hua’s wedding day,’ Shang Ming said. ‘Ask yourselves why it turned into Ming Sheng and Duan Hua’s wedding day. And ask yourselves if you have a conscience. Tian Ting lost everything, her family, her fiance and her job. She sacrificed her youth for this family. Do you still want me to smile?’
‘Tian Ting is hurting but she’s not your daughter,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Today is your son’s wedding day. If you care about your son, smile on his wedding day.’
Shang Duan Hua regretted what he did to Da Tian Ting at the restaurant. But his wedding day with Da Ming Sheng was more important than finding Da Tian Ting.
‘Dad, after my wedding with Ming Sheng, I’ll go look for Tian Ting,’ Shang Duan Hua said.
‘You should go to your wedding ceremony,’ Shang Ming said. ‘It’s not good for the groom to be late.’
Shang Ming forgave Da Tian Ting for pouring hot water on Da Ming Sheng’s arm, because he believed if Da Ming Sheng and Shang Duan Hua didn’t betray Da Tian Ting, she wouldn’t have done what she did. He regretted the harsh words he said to Da Tian Ting that day.
‘Duan Hua, forget about your dad,’ Lam Shu Pan said. ‘Focus on being the happy groom.’
‘Yes mum,’ Shang Duan Hua said.
On the bride’s side, Da Ming Sheng woke up early to have her makeup done and hair styled. She had waited for a long time to be Mrs Shang. What made her happier was Da Tian Ting staying out of their lives.
‘Ming Sheng, are you ready?’ Ning Kan asked. ‘The bridal car will be here soon.’
Ning Kan was proud of Da Ming Sheng marrying a rich man. She had dreamt of having a rich son-in-law since Da Ming Sheng was born.
‘Mum, I’m ready,’ Da Ming Sheng said.
‘My daughter is the most beautiful bride in the world,’ Ning Kan said.
‘Mum…’ Da Ming Sheng said.
‘You don’t need to be humble,’ Ning Kan said.
‘Mum, where’s dad?’ Da Ming Sheng asked.
‘Don’t mention him,’ Ning Kan said.
‘Mum, is dad still out looking for big sister?’ Da Ming Sheng asked.
Da Ming Sheng resented Da Tian Ting for stealing her father’s love. Her father spent the last few days looking for Da Tian Ting instead of helping her prepare for her wedding.
‘Ming Sheng, forget him,’ Ning Kan said. ‘He doesn’t care about you. But I care about you. Today is your wedding day, you should think happy thoughts.’
‘Yes mum,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘Mum, dad’s here.’
‘Da Qing Feng, today is your daughter’s wedding,’ Ning Kan said. ‘Don’t let me see your gloomy face.’
Da Qing Feng ignored Ning Kan.
‘Ming Sheng, this is your last chance to back out,’ Da Qing Feng said. ‘Do you really want to marry Shang Duan Hua?’
‘Dad!’ Da Ming Sheng said.
‘Ming Sheng, I have a duty as a father to protect you,’ Da Qing Feng said. ‘I want you to marry the right man who will make you happy. Listen to me, Shang Duan Hua is the wrong man. He’ll only make your life miserable.’
‘Dad, I’m marrying Duan Hua,’ Da Ming Sheng said. ‘Dad, can’t you wish me happiness?’
Da Qing Feng could only let Da Ming Sheng make a big mistake.
‘Ming Sheng, I wish you happiness,’ Da Qing Feng said.
Da Ming Sheng hugged Da Qing Feng.

Outside the CBD, Da Tian Ting woke up at midday. The past few days, Feng Kai Ze organised facials, manicures, pedicures, etiquette and dance lessons.
Feng Kai Ze brought a team of makeup artists and hair stylists to Da Tian Ting’s apartment.
‘Tian Ting, you need to get a wiggle on,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘If you don’t get ready now, you’ll be late.’
‘Mr Feng, I’m too tired to learn anything today,’ Da Tian Ting said.
‘I don’t have any lessons planned for you today,’ Feng Kai Ze said.
‘Then why did you bring instructors here?’ Da Tian Ting asked.
‘They’re not instructors,’ Feng Kai Ze said. ‘They’re here to do your hair and makeup.’
‘Huh?’ Da Tian Ting asked.
‘Today is Shang Duan Hua and Da Ming Sheng’s wedding day,’ Feng Kai Ze said.
‘What?’ Da Tian Ting asked.
The various lessons crammed into the last few days made Da Tian Ting lost track of time.
