Laurice finally cheered up a bit because of the ridiculously delicious foods she had eaten already. She hovered over the area where there was an entire spread of eastern cuisines which she absolutely missed over the years. She munched a few meat buns and dumplings first since she's a fan of dimsum, and also ate a few slices of sushi. She also had just eaten beef bulgogi and was now craving for some soup to warm up her stomach so she headed straight towards the line for the ramen station. Thinking about her favorite asian dish, she thought that she would definitely pay a visit back to Ginza inTokyo, Japan this year to have her fill of authentic and mouth-watering ramen that she have ever tasted.

She was already planning the trip on her head when she suddenly heard a kid's voice speaking in chinese mandarin.

"Wo yao zhe ge." The kid in front of Laurice spoke while pointing over some bowls of ingredients that he wanted in his ramen. The cook serving ramen was stunned and was obviously confused and troubled as the kid continued to speak his native tongue. The kid had no one accompanying him so the server was having an even more difficult time as he could not understand a word the kid was saying. He seemed like a Filipino so he probably only know how to speak English besides Tagalog/Filipino.

Laurice was about to assist the kid but her words were stuck in her throat when a tall and lean guy bolted right beside her who was apparently looking chinese himself spoke to the kid in fluent mandarin and immediately translated the words back to the server.

Right after the kid was satisfied and left with his bowl of ramen, the man shifted his gaze towards Laurice and said to her rather smugly, "The kid was a picky eater." His eyes were glistening while looking at her and it was giving her the creeps.

'Duh.'

It wasn't like she was asking him for some explanation.

Laurice rolled her eyes when the man went back to his line right behind her after speaking to her in a flirty manner, "After you, my lady."

The man's irksome presence was starting to make her blood boil.

The cook excused himself for awhile to ask for a refill of ingredients. Laurice had an inkling of what's about to happen next. And sure enough, the man did not disappoint her.

"You like ramen? I know a few japanese restaurants around the metro that offers the best tasting ones." The man was clearly talking to her since only the two of them remained queing at the same station.

'Huh?!?'

The pretty darn old approach makes her want to vomit.

She did not want to be completely impolite towards the man who was obviously flirting with her so she casted a side-glance towards him and flashed an awkward smile in return. Surely the man would be sensitive enough to decipher her lack of enthusiasm and just let her be.

Unexpectedly for Laurice, the man was even more perked up since she responded. She even heard him gasp the moment she looked at him. She felt her nerves twitching.

'Why is the refill taking too long?'

Laurice thought that she definitely would not waste even a minute waiting with such annoying fellow if it wasn't for the ramen.

She sighed heavily.

'Indeed, Patience is a virtue.'

...

Eric was elated. He finally had the beauty's attention all to himself. He took a great effort to be able to send Laurence away for awhile by sending hints towards him so he would be left alone with the beauty beside him. It was such a fortunate thing that he personally know the cook in the ramen station or else he wouldn't be able to buy himself time to approach and possibly impress the beautiful lady. He thought he should thank the kid awhileback as well.

He was smiling widely when he introduced himself,

"Wo shi Eric Sy. Hen gao xing ren shi ni."

The woman furrowed her brows when she heard him speak and as if remembering something like following some cheap script, Eric cleared his throat before speaking again, "Oh! I'm sorry about that. What i mean is, I'm Eric Sy. Pleased to meet you." He extended a hand towards the woman for a handshake but she was looking rather hesitant to raise her own hand in return. He was a bit upset with the reception but he still tried to act cool towards her and retrieved his hand while stifling an awkward laughter.

"May i have the honor to know your name, beautiful miss." He persisted while smiling amicably. The woman was indeed beautiful especially from upclose. Her flawless face and fair skin was so radiant and attractive he could not help but stare at her all the more. He was just a bit confused and disappointed that the woman wasn't actually behaving as he expected. The woman was a bit aloof but it was only making him even more interested in pursuing her.

He wasn't hoping to get a date tonight but if it's with this beautiful woman then he would be overjoyed to the point that he would book the entire city's japanese restaurants if it's the only way for him to date her.

The woman just kept silent and did not even looked back at him. She was looking rather impatient waiting in line. Eric was feeling a bit distressed now and just when he was about to approach her again, Laurence came back and completed the woman's order in a flash.

"Wait." Eric reached towards her to prevent her from leaving yet but the woman flinched when his hand brushed against her arm. Her face was completely distorted by the sudden contact. Eric's lips twitched slightly while trying his best to maintain his cool. He was about to speak again when the woman looked at him and finally opened her mouth and spoke.

"Wo yi jie hun le. Tzai jien."

The woman walked past him afterwards leaving him completely dumbfounded.

" ...???!!! "

...

Eric was feeling wretched inside.

He got back on their table empty-handed and appear totally downcast. He heaved a deep sigh the moment he arrived and sat languidly in his chair. He completely lose the appetite to eat anymore.

The curious stares directed towards him was slowly getting to his nerves.

"What?!" He bawled.

"What's with you? What happened? Why did you come back?" Karl asked enthusiastically. He got even more curious to know what exactly happened now since Eric came back looking rather listless and upset for some unknown reason.

'Did he got rejected?'

They were initially too afraid in their seats and was torn between watching him make his move towards the woman while feeling helpless against Liam's inexplicable and oppresive behavior. They were literally at edge of their seats while observing the interaction between Eric and the woman awhileback.

Eric replied simply, "She's married." Disappointment and regret was written all over her face. With a heavy heart he continued, "Huh! I even thought she couldn't understand chinese and gloated about it. But she was fluent in mandarin. What's worse is that, she was actually married. What a joke. Such a waste."

'What the ..'

What sort of excuse was that?

"What did you say?" Craig thought he misheard something and decided to ask him as well.

"She said, she was already married." Eric muttered.

The four other men fell into an awkward silence after he spoke. They seem to be contemplating about something.

Suddenly, the sullen mood around them vanished completely in an instant.

Coincidentally, Liam has returned to his usual cool and indifferent demeanor but all of them could feel a sense of calmness radiating from him. His features softened gradually and he wasn't looking scary anymore. He looked even more refreshed as if he was relieved about something.

Obviously, it was because of someone else's misfortune.

Tsk.

The three other men were caught up in a dilemma.

...

Paul could not keep the pretense anymore and spoke to Eric with a sympathetic gaze, "Brother, you've been lied to."

Eric furrowed his brows and said, "What do you mean by that?"

Paul only sighed in response and did not elaborate.

He felt his friend was a numbskull as of the moment. He did not want to waste his precious breath.

Craig did not say anything either. He did not want to side with anyone. He just pretended he did not care anymore and lowered his head back to eat.

Karl shook his head towards his unfeeling friends. He thought for a second that only he can put some sense back to Eric's head.

Karl: "Paul was right. You've been lied to, Eric. Did you still not realize the fact that the woman was undoubtedly not interested about you at all? She was unimpressed with your gloating since she can speak mandarin herself. And even made a ridiculous excuse to get rid off you."

Eric was stunned. The sudden realization was overwhelming. He laughed hysterically right after.

'Domesticated my foot!'

The woman was a spitfire. And a cold-blooded one at that.

He was deceived.

'Pffttt'

A round of laughter ringed in Eric's ears.

Everyone could not help but laugh at him.

Paul mocked him yet again, "Yup, she's definitely single alright. Unfortunately though, you weren't her type at all."

Craig: "Wow, so there's actually someone who could resist Young Master Sy's charms."

Karl: "Don't take it to heart, Eric. The night is young."

Paul: "That's what you get for being too rushed to get laid."

Another round of laughter.

...

They take turns in teasing him rubbing salt in his wounds while someone was leisurely sipping in his cup of tea.

Eric: " ... "

'Damn this man! He was obviously enjoying this!'
