The Power of Magic
[Needing to get to F rank first, being an adventurer is troublesome. It wouldn’t hurt them to just let me get to E rank in one go.]

[I’m totally back to my energetic self! I am slightly interested, in seeing Estel use magic.]
The next day, we decided to pick up a request at the Adventurers’ Guild early in the morning. This is to have a look at Estel’s magic, and to raise her rank too.
I considered letting Noru rest for the day, but she wanted to come along so I let her.
[Ara, so I have expectations to meet? This makes me want to put in effort. Fufu, maybe I should let loose one of the bigger spells.]
[Please keep it to the normal ones Estel-san, really, please.]
She raises her long staff proudly, with a slightly haughty face.
She can submerge a street with no problems, if she puts in even more effort, who knows what she’ll end up doing, so I stopped her. If she for example puts in more oomph to explosion magic, the impact alone might end up blowing us away.
[Anyway Onii-san what’s up with the glasses, an image change?]
[That alone changes the impression you give others. You actually look intellectual.]
I’m currently wearing glasses. It’s not because I have poor eyesight and this isn’t a pair of prescription glasses either.
This is one of the SSR items from the gacha, the Monitor Glasses. What is currently on the screen of the smartphone is projected onto this pair of glasses, so I can ’look’ at my smartphone through the glasses.

I put my smartphone in the pocket I opened in my trousers, with the camera facing out. With this I can now confirm the status of another person without the person knowing.
There are changes to my equipment and armor too, Excali-bar and Pot Lid are now upgraded after I combined them all.

Fufufu, my stats are now a whole lot better. But the fact that my appearance of equipping Excali-bar and Pot Lid, plus the armor and sneakers made me look like a weirdo which is sad.

We arrived near the usual forest, and the monsters came out to give us a warm welcome. When I thought that they are only going to be fodder for Estel, I kinda feel sorry for them.

With an awfully casual voice, she swings her staff. From which a gray magic formation appears around her, which then proceeds to make a ‘Pon’ sound.
The upper body of the Orc and the head of the goblin which were heading toward us, looked like they were crushed and twisted by something which then scattered the remains around. What remained of the bodies fall down lifelessly and turn into drop items.
[Hii!? It’s so grotesque…]
[O-oi Estel. Can’t you use something that’s a little more reserved?]
Noru who was next to me let out a spooked voice. I so wanted to take a jab at her, as she does something similar too. I do agree that it’s grotesque though.
However I do wonder what kind of magic that was. I couldn’t see anything but the orc getting blown away while its upper body was getting crushed.
[Muu, that was already one of my more restrained wind magic. Ah, then how about this, E~i.]
More monsters came out from the forest.
She swung her staff again with a casual voice, this time some liquid-ish stuff began to gather infront of the magic formation.
The moment when the liquid became what looked like marbles, they shoot out toward the orcs and riddle them full of holes, and their lives end.
[… What was that?]
[Fufu, awesome isn’t it? I compressed the water and shot it. I can do slicing with this too.]
[It’s like she can do whatever she wants…]
She proudly puffs up her non-existent chest, with a satisfied smile. It’s awesome, it really is but… she really can do whatever she wants(with her magic).
To use water magic in a place which had no water… This is another one of those ‘she can do this all by herself’ moments.
[Oi, what’s that?]
[T-that’s… a Red Orc! The rare amongst rares! It’s extremely rare!]
More monsters come jumping out of the forest. At the head of them, was a totally red orc.
Noru got all excited and swung her arms around when she saw it. Is that really so rare. We never saw that monster at all during our Magic Stone collection back then so it must really be.
[Is that also what I think it is…]
[That’s right! That fella is said to have 3 times the power of a normal orc. It’s dangerous to approach it.]
What’s up with the 3 times thing for red stuff in this world? Anyway I should have a look with the status app.

Sure the numbers are high, but it’s not a big problem for the current us. But, it might be dangerous for the still low-level Estel.
Here I was thinking―― I should take it out together with Noru.
Me and Noru took our stances with our weapons, facing the orcs running towards us. But a tornado suddenly appeared and swallowed up the orcs, surrounding rocks were sucked up by the wind and flew into the tornado too.
The tornado dissipates after a short while, leaving behind a Red Orc which had its limbs all twisted in bad directions, and with injuries all over its body. And so without moving, it turned into drop items.
[…Oi, what was that for.]
[Ara? What’s the matter Onii-san? Seems like something strange got mixed in, I wonder what that was.]
[Please be careful and not hit me too, when I am taking point as the vanguard…]
The Red Orc was dealt with by Estel unknowingly. She just looks at us with a curious face, when she notices our dumbfounded looks.
She seems to be a different kind of problem child compared to Noru, and I somehow get a headache thinking about this.

Reporting in with the proof of subjugation, Estel receives her green plate as proof of being F-rank and returns to where we are.

Subjugation requests that have a client, are usually at remote villages a fair distance away. There aren’t that many of such requests either, so having to wait for a request feels kinda weird.
So instead, I want to take this opportunity to head to the Royal Capital. Surely there is a wider variety of requests over there, more importantly I’m interested in the labyrinth.

Firstly we don’t know which direction Suting is in. If we intend to go there we should start by gathering relevant information.
The map app has no record of a location if we haven’t been there before, you can only see where enemies are coming from the 1st time using the app so it kind of doesn’t help.
[I wonder if there are carriages going to Suting? I don’t really want to go there on foot.]
[Agreed. It’s likely going to be a long distance, it’ll take a considerable amount of time to travel there on foot.]
Carriages huh, wonder if there are any. Heck I’m sure there are some.
I was thinking of going by ourselves, but relying on others can work too.

As we asked the townsfolk about it, we finally reach the shop where the carriages heading to Suting are. We were received by a young lady inside the shop. Looks like many shops in the town employ young women as their receptionists.
[Yes there are. But if the destination is Suting, the carriage heading there is leaving in 5 days time, will that be alright?]
5 days later huh. Here I was thinking that we will be able to leave tomorrow if we hired one today, looks like this doesn’t work that way.
Looks like they have a predetermined schedule, do they have multiple carriages going to other destinations too?

The receptionist lady handed me the documents. There’s one where we write our names etc, and another which shows the terms and conditions.
The fee is 50,000G per person. Oi that’s pretty expensive.
It is written that food is to be brought and or prepared by the passengers themselves. Looks like you can load your luggage onto the carriage.
Travel time to Suting is about 10 days, so you should prepare what’s necessary beforehand.
Doesn’t look like there will be problems.
I hand my signed document to the lady. After that I receive a reservation certificate. You won’t be able to board if you do not have it with you on the day of departure.
Now then, I’m looking forward to 5 days later.
