A week had long by without a hitch for Xi, except for her little interaction with Francis on the first day of class. She hadn't seen him since. It must've have been a random confrontation for him. As he didn't seem to put any more interest on her, Ruby should've said something to nag him, so he would feel the need to ask her about what went on. She didn't answer and instead showed a strong front, so that must be why he was deterred and didn't dare show his face to her.

She accepted this without question, she didn't want him to bother her any more than he had done either. She just wanted to get on with her life and plan and a better future for herself. It wouldn't be good to get distracted because of nothing.

Xi held her books to her chest and headed to her herbology class. She had always had an interest in flowers and plants. So two of her classes were dedicated to that interest of her. General Botany and Herbology. This was not the class that her parents had planned for her or wanted her to take, but she changed her schedule herself and took it anyways. She couldn't bother to stay in those boring classes just to socialize with other nobles. Even if her botany classes were smaller in size, at least it was more homely.

All the students were also relatively small-class nobles so they were easy to get along with. They had even been a little surprised at her status and that she would want to take such a low-key class. She became quick friends with everyone there and she was happy that she had followed her heart.

There was a rare genuine smile on her face as she headed to the door of herbology. But the minute she entered the room, her smile dropped. Sitting next to her seat was none other than her lone star, Francis Emerin. Why was he here?!

It wasn't difficult for Francis to find out what classes Xi was taking. He was a prince and along with that title, there were flocks of nobles that would come to curry favor with him. So if he had even shown a little interest in something small, there would be people who were willing to deliver whatever it was on a silver platter for him.  Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

But in the end, it noble girls were the fiercest for his attention, since he hadn't chosen a fiancee yet. He was a very viable bachelor for most noble households. And so his parents had always pestered him to do so, but no girls had really interested him as of yet. He had always had a small disdain of the attitudes the nobility held, which only made him averse to searching for a relationship with any noble household daughters. The only nobles that he could say that he was even remotely fond of were his little sister's friends. Aileene Lovell and Xi Faber. He didn't have much of an impression of the rest of the prominent heirs in the three other dukedoms.

Aileene was always a calm and mature influence, but he could never gain much more of a deeper interest in her. She seemed to always have something on her mind and when she would glance to him, it made him feel as if she could see right through him. She didn't even treat him as one would a friend of the same age, he felt like a child in her eyes. She didn't have a little bit of interest in him at the end of the day and he didn't either, so he didn't initiate much contact with her. There would only be few encounters for the two of them between the high society banquets and the tea parties that his sister would hold.

But Xi, on the other hand, he was interested. She held a calm air and faux mask at any given point, which was similar to Aileene. Though it was to a different degree, whereas Aileene's calmness was because of her nature of seeming wise and all-knowing. Xi calmness was one that hid her true feelings, out of obligations or out of pressure. She could never truly be genuine and that was not because she didn't want to. But it was because she couldn't. And Francis had the pleasure to watch her shell crack due to the influence of his sister's carefree nature and Aileene's graceful bearing.

Even though he was interested in her, there was nothing he could do. She was engaged to Seti Capra, heir to one of the three dukedoms. It was a marriage that had been decided when the two had just been born, so even if it was the royal family. It would be difficult to break, so he could only step down. Who knew that Xi would break the engagement herself and give him a chance to finally chase her.

So the first step to her heart was to be closer to her. He must give her a good impression of himself first. And that must be done by showing his face around her more often.

If Francis had shown his face around her less often, she would probably fall in love with him!

Who told him to constantly hang around her, everywhere she goes she would see him and now he had the same schedule as her for every single class. Xi simply didn't know how she would escape. She used to be happy to arrive at each of her classes, but now she would be faced with his attention and she would dread the very thought of another school day. She couldn't understand why he would follow her so. There was nothing she could offer him.

And if it was something for Ruby, he did not have to go this far. She was just his little sister's friend. He shouldn't involve himself in something that had never been his problem. Every reason for his unexpected development towards her, she couldn't logically explain. Before the school year, they had never even once talked to each other. And now—

"Xi, have you read through the chapter we were assigned yesterday? Can you explain it to me? I couldn't understand it." Francis asked the Xi that was so clearly trying to ignore his existence. He leaned closer to her side and placed the textbook that he was holding onto her desk.
