She put her hand into the eddy of chill air and could immediately feel the cold that sunk into her bones like icy thorns. Apart from the cold, there was also a small degree of spiritual energy that was equally penetrating.
Her eyes glimpsed with hope at the sight. Her condition had been deteriorating over the past years, and no amount of spiritual energy could refuel her strength. She could not even absorb the spiritual energy around her, even during intense meditations. Therefore, her spiritual power had become progressively worse.
Nevertheless, her body did not seem to repel the richness of spiritual energy here. With a light grasp in the air, the source of spiritual energy was immediately absorbed and channeled right to her spiritual core.
The encounter felt like refreshing rain pouring down after a long drought. Feeling hopeful enough, Gu Xijiu kept the umbrella away and lunged for the swirls of spiritual aura in her surroundings.
A vortex of rotating winds carried snowflakes in the whirl. She took a leap in an attempt to fly but lost her balance instead and staggered. Apparently, the place seemed to forbid the use of spells.
She steadied herself to make another attempt and flicked her finger to cast a spell but could not unleash any force of seven-colored light. Only a small whiff was produced that did not even leave a mark on the snow’s surface.
She started wondering about the nature of the place. She was troubled but was not ready to give up, for she had not encountered such a rich source of spiritual energy in a long while. Determined, she continued to chase after the vortex.
She intended to go straight to the core of the vortex, where the source of spiritual energy was the most abundant.
Unfortunately, she could not get out of the vortex after finding her way in. To her surprise, the air current in the center was much stronger than she thought. As soon as the strong whirl approached, her entire body was swept away in the vortex.
Apart from the current, the temperature of the vortex was below the freezing point. Therefore, all of her veins were instantaneously frozen in the cold. Naturally, her body became rigid and was carried away helplessly by the wind as she traveled higher and higher above ground.
Nonetheless, only her body was frozen. Her mind remained fully conscious. In a panicked state, the rotating winds certainly caused a stir in her heart as well. Perhaps, it was finally the time for her to give up on the body.
When the winds ceased, she would fall to her death from this height. But just when she thought all hope was lost, a long rope suddenly appeared from outside of the vortex and caught her by the waist. She continued to float in the wind before the rope was pulled. After a brief moment, she managed to break free from the everlasting circular motion and found herself suspended in the air about 20 feet above the ground.
In an instant, her body started falling towards a person on the ground. Regrettably, her body was frozen, so she did not have any control over it. She could not even open her mouth to ask for help!
“Bam!” She fell into the arms of a man. The sudden impact plunged him backward. He had to take a few steps back to absorb the impact of her fall.
Finally, he put her down and circled her frozen body for a while. “Didn’t I tell you to stay still? Why didn’t you listen to me?” He sounded troubled.
