Chapter 78

The Gate is not rusty but it is creaky, producing an old hinge sound that usually occurs from old doors. The whole place was really eerie. I scratched my head before deciding to send Leona to fetch Lina to help me with the battle. To raise her mastery on Telekinesis and a few more of her abilities unique to her, I had to train her here which makes the undead and ghouls to be. perfect target practice. Leona is not a good candidate for practice here so she would be recalled after fetching Lina here.

I checked the surroundings and marked a few areas in my hand drawn map that I already prepared beforehand. The reason I had it is due to the hand drawn map that existed when the owner managed to tackle and finish the quest surrounding the Mansion of he Magician Duke. I already have those details in my head and I had just needed the Cartography Ex Job and a few materials needed for making scrolls for making the map more usable.

After quite a while, Leona arrived with Lina in her Battle Maid Gear.

"I have arrived master, what is going on?" Lina asked me as she looked around the place.

"We are at the Mansion of the Magician Duke. I am taking a quest that would help you raise your level and obtain the ownership of this old mansion and to do that, I need your help," I said to her and her expression was surprised a lot.

"Mansion of the Magician Duke? That is a Level 10 Mansion!" Lina trembled.

Mansions and houses were divided to levels as their own rarity. The higher the level, the more expensive and hard it was to purchase. Furthermore, the higher the level, the better facilities and structures can be added in the future! And the highest level would be the Level 10, and the Mansion of the. Magician Duke was considered as one of those mansions!

"Of course I know that, that is why we are going to raid it now. Leveling you up here would be easier, we can use your telekinesis against the ghouls. Use it as a training skill to master that skill of yours," I said to her. It would be a waste if her strongest skill is not usually used. It was one of her skills that were highly given with points which makes it superior compared to all the skills I asked her to learn.

We stepped further into the mansion and as we step closer and closer to the entrance, the ambiance of the place gets darker and heavier as we pull out our weapons. This is not something that you can just endure ad take lightly.

"Clack, clack, clack," a sound that feels like it was bumping rocks together echoes around the place. I took a battle stance and look around. The fog beneath our feet earlier was no longer staying there and instead, covers the surroundings, making the area dark and dangerous. It is similar to the ambience of horror movies but this time, I felt like in one. No wonder many people say that foggy dark places makes your hair stand. It was practically chilly and hard to endure. Thanks to my high experience against these things, I don't feel that scared, quite opposite to Lina who was shivering. NPCs also feel scared and they are not some sort of data that won't feel any kind of emotion and that proved the point that Lina was not just some sort of data made for the game. It was more like an artificial intelligence.

Soon, the things that are making the clacking sounds appeared with blood red colored eye sockets.

"Century Skeleton"

Level 51

HP: 700,000/700,000

Attribute: Undead

They have high HPs! And makes maters worse, they are plenty of them! And I thought they would only amount of a dozen or fewer than that! Who would have thought that they would be really plenty that it was like a small battalion of skeleton walking with sabers on their bony hands and a few tattered armor on their skeleton body!

"Muddy Waters!"

I slammed the ground and send my mana towards the ground, allowing me to control its attack. The hard and barren ground became wet and sticky mud. The advancing skeletons slowly got trapped into the muck of mud. Lina recovered from her stunned reactions and quickly raised her hands and used Telekinesis. She controlled one of the Century Skeleton using both palms and forced it to slam together. I can see that she is struggling to do it as the Century Skeleton was also resisting her skill.

"So persistent!" sweat appeared on her forehead and she gritted her teeth hard to avoid relinquishing the Century Skeleton. Looks like she is trying to squash the Century Skeleton yo dust.

I did not go idle further and also begins to assault.

"Earth! Become my weapon! Earth Spike!"

The Muddy Waters that I casted earlier moved and all of a sudden sprang out, forming spikes made from hardened soil. A few Century Skeletons were pierced and broken but most are still alive and kicking to get off from the spikes that impaled them. Lina managed to kill the Century Skeleton at long last and focused on another impaled Skeletons, finishing them off.

However, another enemy appeared and scratch my back. I did not notice its presence but f*ck, I did not expect to get hit!

"Transparent Ghoul"

Level 51

HP:300,000/300,000

Attribute: Ghost, Undead

Argh, its Transparent Ghouls! How did they appear here? More importantly, I need to fend against them!

Peng!

The Transparent Ghouls were quick and agile, attacking mW without restraint. They ganged up on me and quickly made swiping attacks using their sharp and long claws. Of course I defended against term attacks but what I hate is that, the attacks are not considered "Physical" due to their undead attribute which stops me from using Counter Slash. Still, I can keep on blocking their attacks without receiving damage but they were pretty strong. No wonder they are level 51 monsters.

I retreated a few steps before unleashing my magician skill.

"Frigid Wind!"

The Transparent Ghouls were slowed down. Lina also switched her attacks on the Transparent Ghouls but her Telekinesis ability were not useful in this event. Instead, it was not helping at all!

"You little cretins!" Lina was infuriated that she pulls out her Whip and slams it on the ground. She quickly covered it with Lightning Attribute which is Weapon Element Enchant, Lina's unique ability. She began whipping randomly as the little buggers were so fast that they can dodge the fast whip. The whip almost hit me, and I was almost electrocuted!

"Lina, be careful! You almost hit me!" I shouted to her.

"Please stay out of the way master!" She grumbled and continue her attacks without being concerned about my safety.

Ugh, that hurts a lot. Still, Lina's attitude were already like this even in the past so I already got to get used to her antics. But still, to say it straight to my face felt terrible.

The Century Skeletons that were obliterated earlier from the Earth Spike and Lina's Telekinesis once again rose up, good as new, alongside with the Transparent Ghouls, this is not looking good.

"Lina, follow me! We had to find the summoning gates around here!" I quickly dragged Lina away.

Lina did not reject and also followed me. If the Century Skeletons appeared again, good as new without any kind of injuries, that would only mean one thing, there is a Summoning Gate present.

Summoning Gate was considered as a Necromancer tool. Necromancer class would be available in the future patch but it would not be available for now. This Summoning Gate has to be destroyed to cease the continuous surge of enemies in the area and looking for that is a huge pain. Still, with my 25 years of game experience, that will be too strange if I have not seen the Summoning Gate.

We ran around the courtyard for a while until we reach the place of the Gate. It was the fountain, and the Summoning Gate was floating above the fountain. It looked like a small violet orb with a size similar to a basketball and continuously emit dark powers.

I quickly changed my weapon into a spear.

"Hu!" I hurled the spear towards the Summoning Gate and since it has no intelligence and can't move away to dodge, the Summoning Gate was broken as it was pierced through. The Spear returned and the summoning no longer occurred and only left the remaining enemies around.

"Let's clean things up!" I said to Lina.

"Roger!" Lina nodded and pulled out her whip again.

The battle was not as hard as earlier as the bad mentality was greatly reduced as the Summoning Gate got wrecked out. After a few minutes of battle, Lina exhaled as she stomped one of the skulls of the Century Skeleton and bathed in gold light as she leveled up to level 53. She is four levels below me but she is almost catching up to my level! I guess I had to work hard too! Since my EXP was cut due to the balancing of the Versatile Class, even with the help of the strong and almost cheat like title, Memento Mori, it won't be considered enough and I would always fall behind to Lina who has no restriction like me. However, I don't plan to stay at level 57 for long. With the mass of experience generated by the undead monsters we put to eternal rest, my EXP bar rose to 89%. It would be a matter of time soon to reach level 58. I had to work fast, the faster I can clear this mansion, the better rewards might be.

There were a few drops but most of them are materials so they are not that significant for me to look for now and would be only verified later after the battle. After killing on our way, Lina and I arrived finally in front of the door. We pushed the door open and we surveyed the surroundings. Like the outside, the whole place was also covered with Fog. Still, I can work out with that as they only add terrifying ambience and did not have any debuffs to us or giving buffs to our enemies. In short, this fog is only for the show.

I surveyed the place and since I still don't own the Clairvoyance skill that would be patched along with the Expansion. If I have that, I won't bother looking around and seeking trouble, I would go straight to the Summoning Gate and destroy it, that would be easier. Still, I don't mind reaping some EXP. Still, if they are easy to kill, I won't mind staying here for a few more hours to kill and rack up EXP. However, these little cretins are totally strong and we have to consume lots of energy to beat up most of the skeletons and Ghouls appearing, and since this is a one time mansion taking quest, if I escaped, I won't be able to take this quest again. Also, if I recall correctly, this mansion quests are time trial quests. Clearing the mansion fast enough will reap greater treasures. Forget about the EXP, earning them can be found anywhere but earning treasures as rewards which would be rare to own would be really a huge profit. That is why, I have no time to grind.

We rushed towards the rooms and kite around all of the Ghouls and Skeletons around while looking for the Summoning Gates. After pinpointing all of them, I quickly made a mental note and turn my heads into the enemies. Time to harvest!

Lina holds out her arms open like she was about to hug someone and curl her fingers. This is a killer technique of the Telekinesis, "Hug of the Reaper". With that, the Ghouls and Skeletons who all are crumpled together were being slowly crushed. They are still moving fast and to help Lina reduce her burden a bit, I cast two spells side by side.

"Frigid Wind!"

"Earth! Become my weapon! Earth Spike!"

Once again, I slammed the ground while chanting and the floors became spikes. Although it will be damaged, the spikes will return to normal and the floor will also return like nothing happen, that is how the battles using Magic is very good, it would help the place stay the same.

The struggling undead monsters were one by one impaled by the protruding spikes and crushed then all. With a few of her burdens reduced, Lina forced her "hug" to close and with a struggle, she manages to close it, smashing all of the enemies in her "embrace", exhausting all of her mana out.

Weng!

Lights enveloped our bodies. Lina leveled to level 54 and I leveled up to level 58 at long last! My EXP bar continued to rise, until it stopped around 71%, 29% away from level 59. While the undead were all crushed, I quickly rushed to the Summoning Gates and destroyed the Gates one by one, stopping them from producing more undead.

After clearing all of the marked areas, its time to clear out the last part and that would be the basement. According to the Guide in my past timeline, the boss who will be a Necromancer will be here. You can choose to spare or kill that guy. Of course killing it was the best since I heard that when you spare the guy, he will end up as a raid boss later on.

Lina and I look for the entrance of the Basement. We look around first until Lina found it first.

"Master! I found it! Follow me!" Lina happily said as she asked me to follow her.

I followed her till we reach the storage room of the mansion. There, a stairs that is descending until the very deep end down the floor gives a creepy feeling. Sure enough, its presence is really not hiding at all. The boss is here.
