“Are you making dinner just by staring at the ingredients, Lu Zhaoyang?”
She heard him before she saw him.
Lu Zhaoyang threw a look at the man without a word. She took out the ingredients and got to work.
No matter what she said, he would never listen anyway.
When she served the dishes on the dining table, she noticed that his belongings were scattered all over the living room.
His leather shoes were by the door. His tea cup was with her tea set, together with his favourite coffee beans and an ashtray.
She looked inside her room and found Huo Yunting sitting against the headboard on her bed. Her formerly sparse wardrobe was now filled up with his things.
“The apartment is too small for all your things. This place doesn’t have the feel that I was going for anymore. Can you stop doing this to me, Huo Yunting?”
She was starting to feel angry. Moving in was fine, but why must he ruin her home?!
Huo Yunting stood up slowly from bed and walked to her side. “You are my wife. Your home is my home. I can decorate it however I like. You have to get used to having me by your side. After all, we are legally involved with each other. Come, let’s have dinner.”
“…” Lu Zhaoyang cursed all his ancestors quietly inside!
During dinner, she stole occasional glances at Huo Yunting. What must she do to make him listen?
The fact was, the man refused to listen to her and even sucked her dry that night!
The next morning, Lu Zhaoyang dragged her tired self to work.
She had just taken the first step into the office when her forehead was hit by something. It was a raw egg.
The eggshell dropped to the floor. She raised an arm in defense when another egg hit the back of her palm.
The commotion drew people around her. Soon, there was a whole crowd.
“Lu Zhaoyang, who do you think you are? How can you just fire someone so abruptly, or close an entire department without warning?!”
A middle-aged woman was yelling angrily at her. It had to do with the product review recently.
“These are the company’s new policies. The company has offered appropriate compensation or arrangements for the staff involved. You can just tell me if you have any complaints. What’s the use of this display? Do you think it will solve your problems?”
She went to her desk and used tissue to wipe her herself clean.
“I have to thank you, though. I hear that raw egg is good for the skin.” She said calmly. The other woman looked even more furious.
Lu Zhaoyang noticed a secretary in the crowd gathering around them. She snapped her fingers and said to her, “Yuan, get me her files.”
“Right away!”
The crowd quieted down. The other staff members who had just arrived at the office joined them too to witness the standoff.
Lu Zhaoyang saw that the woman still had two eggs in her hands. Her forehead still felt a little sore from the attack.
“Lu Zhaoyang, my husband and I have been working for Ge Yu for close to two decades. We have sacrificed our lives for the company. I understand if I lost my position, but why is my husband losing his job too?! Our family depends on us to feed them! But now, we have lost everything for no reason at all!”
Lu Zhaoyang listened to her every word.

Just then, the secretary came back with the documents she requested for.
Lu Zhaoyang studied the documents they had on the woman and her husband briefly.
She then sat back in her chair and said calmly to the woman, “Li Hong, based on your history with the company, we will be giving you two years’ worth of salary as compensation. Your husband’s department was scraped, yes, but we have offered him a new role in the company. I wonder why you think he is losing his job.”
