All the emotional and physical exhaustion that Jim endured suddenly disappeared. He hugged and kissed her a hundred times that she felt she was already bruised. He just couldn't have enough. He was so overjoyed. Nothing could describe enough the sense of relief he had felt. Whoever had rescued her, he was willing to return the favor in folds.

Jim wasn't done yet with his moments alone with her wife, when another guests arrived. It was kuya Nap who tagged along with Anthon.

They were both bringing grocery bags, a box of cake and a bunch of flowers. Jia's eyes widened in seeing those things.

"For what are those? " She asked.

"Isn't it worth celebrating that your back, safe and alive? " Anthon said, not smiling at all.

Jia stared at him for a moment, then her eyes moistened. She was really moved. "Not mad anymore? " She smiled.

"Not until you're done with the cooking. " Anthon said, showing her the packs of meat, spices, miscellaneous ingredients, fruits and vegetables.

"Welcome back, sissy! " Kuya Nap walked over to Jia and hugged her.

Jia cried again as she hugged him back. "I thought I'd never see all of you again."

"I'm dying to know who rescued

you so that we can thank him. "Kuya Nap stroke her head as if she was doing it to a little sister.

Jia felt overwhelmed. She had never felt so loved and valued before as a family. Anthon, who was hurting for their love fiasco, was now treating them all as a family.

She then proceeded to the kitchen and washed the meat and began cutting them to give it a little cure. Then, she began peeling and cutting the spices and vegetables. Anthon, on the other hand, washed the fruits and placed it on a fruit bowl. When he returned, he drove her away from the kitchen.

"Let me do this. Go and arrange your flowers, instead. " He said, giving her a quick glance.

She argued."Did you say I owe you a dinner so I'll humbly do it! Go and play with them. "

"No."

"Why? " She asked.

"Because I cook better than you." He boasted and smiled.

"Really?" She wondered.

"During summer vacations when I was in college, I was sent to a culinary school by my employer. I worked as a part - time cook in her restaurant for my daily school allowance. She was impressed by my cooking skill so she enrolled me in a culinary, thinking that one day, she could hire me as a chef in one of her branches."

Jia was dumbfounded. She realized that his life was not an easy one back then, though he got a scholarship program. What amount of success he may had now was worth all the hardwork and sacrifice he did.

"What happened when you graduated as an engineer, instead? "

Anthon laughed. "I renovated her restaurants. Since college until now, I spare them a day or two in a week to prepare my special weekly menu. That's it. " Jia was overwhelmed with amazement.

"Then teach me and let me watch you. "Jia said.

He whispered. "No, your husband might get jealous of me. And for what use is it to teach you when you will not be cooking for me? " He said with glints of pain in his eyes.

Jia did not argue anymore. She hated it everytime Anthon made her feel that he was hurting. She just went over to the table and began the arranging .

She, then, filled the vases that Anthon bought with water and started seggregating the long stems from the shorter ones. She got no skill in flower arrangement so she did not make so much fuss about it. She just dipped all of the stalks that a vase could accomodate then put the rest to other two vases.

"Anthooooon! " Kuya Nap suddenly yelled, startling Jia terribly. Jim also sprang to his feet to know why. Anthon went out from the kitchen, as well, with an astonished look.

"What is it? " Anthon asked.

"Jia is murdering your flowers!" Kuya Nap said in between his loud chuckling.

Anthon looked at Jia and the flowers and his face dropped. "Leave it there. I'll do it later."

Jia felt a bit ashamed so she picked up a pillow and threw it to kuya Nap. The more his laughter deepened.

"What did you do to the flowers my brother gave you? My bunny!"

Jim came over to Jia and wrapped her shoulders, rescuing her from shame. "It's alright kuya. I knew it from the beginning so I bought her baskets of flowers, instead. In that way, she didn't need to trouble herself in arranging it." Jim aggravated her shame instead that she almost cried.

Jim realized it and comforted her lovingly. "It's not those skills that matter..."

However, kuya Nap kept giggling until all of them laughed.

Then he called Jim over to play chess with him. She sat down to watch for a while but immediately got bored. So, she watched videos with Jian instead, placing him in her lap.

After Anthon was done, he went to the table with the flowers and called Jia. "I'll teach you how. "

Jia nodded obediently and watched him prepare the scissors, pads of papers and floral foams.

"Arrange the greens by holding your one tall green in the middle of your hand and work around the edges to make a hand - held look. "

Anthon said while he spread the three, long green leaves in the vase. He demonstrated further until he added the shorter greens and the fillers.

"Pick your tallest, straightest and tighest, closed rose for your first placement.  It should be 1 to 1 1/2 times as tall as your vase. This will set the height and width of your arrangement. Then, snip the stem at an angle to bring the rose to the perfect height. Place it, then, in the center hole of your grid." Jim further demonstrated.

"Select your next five roses according to the tightness of the head, the height and the straightness of the stems. Then, hold the roses up to the vase until the top of the heads of these five roses reach the bottom of the head of the first rose you placed."

Then, snip all 5 at the same length, at an angle where they will be high enough to stand at the measured height. Place them aiming towards the center rose making sure there are equal spaces apart."

Anthon went on demonstrating until he deftly finished filling the three vases with his magical arrangement.

"Wow! These are so beautiful, Anthon. I did not know you were so good." She happily exclaimed.

"If you knew then, would you choose me, instead? " He said in a very low voice that only Jia could hear.

"Stop it. " She said, feeling uncomfortable.

He laughed. "Grandma was a florist and she had a flower stall in Freedom Park before. And I was her trainee. " He said it loudly this time.

"What are those things you don't know? " Jia asked, admiring the many skills he had just revealed. Deep waters are indeed silent.

"The only thing that I did not know was how to win you. " Anthon struck his losing point again, his eyes fixed unbliking on her

She, then, felt a pricking sensation, sharper and more intense than the strength of all those thorns in Anthon's stalks.

Suddenly able to think of how to strike back at him, she grabbed his hand and looked straight into his eyes.

"There's something you should know how to." Jia said. A shadow of melancholy clouded her eyes.

"What is it? " Anthon held her gaze as well.

"Forget me and find the one who deserved you better. "

"I can't and I won't. "
