Jim woke up groggily in the middle of the night.The light was off, except for the dim light outside the bed. His heartbeats suddenly raced. His mind went back to the last scene before he went to sleep. He was in his dad's bed. And in that room, there was Dr. Grace! He, suddenly, got totally awake.
He felt a weight on his arm and realized someone was lying in his chest. Her face was covered by the comforter and her arm was lying limply around his waist. She was hugging him! His eyes grew wide as he remembered his fear yesterday of falling into a trap. It couldn't be! It should not be!
As he looked up and around, he confirmed that he was indeed in a presidential suit. He remembered the cascading chandeliers and the contemporary design of the ceiling. Where did his dad sleep? In the sofa? And he allowed him sleeping with Grace? Of course, this was his whole idea but he knew he was so stupid enough to step into a bold trap!
He swiftly pulled down the comforter and pushed her roughly away angrily! She was so startled as she almost fell down from the bed.
"Jim, what are you doing?" A familiar, sweet voice rang in his ears as he saw her moving back into the bed.
Jim creased his brows and suddenly got confused. He hurriedly pulled her back into his arms. Smelling her scent, he wondered if he was really awake. If he really was not dreaming. He gazed at her and she laughed. She touched his nose with a finger and said, "I succeed! "
He sighed. It was really her and he was a hundred percent awake! He could not believe it! Shaking his head in disbelief, he pulled her closer and hugged her tight. A tear fell from his eyes!
He began kissing her and she responded eagerly. After what seemed like an eternity of pecking and caressing, he felt his lips had become swollen. He, then, released her and hugged her tight. A rare sense of joy and fulfillment crept into his heart.
"Sleep back, silly girl! "
She did not say a word as she was still so tired and sleepy. Her earlier hours had been so stressful. She pressed herself into him as he gently cuddled her.
It was such a wonderful feeling. They, then, drifted together in a deep sleep. A feeling of bliss is sometimes beautifully defined when two souls lie close together, whose hearts were bound by love.

Jim came in late the following day. He made his morning round immediately. He realized he was fortunate enough that he did not receive any emergency calls yesterday. All his patients except one, were improving greatly, and were ready to be discharged.
However, Mr. Dy's status were becoming stable and he started to shift his intravenous medications to oral. He also tapered the rate of his inotropes into a minimal rate before planning to discontinue it the next day.
"Good morning, Doc Jim! " Dr.Grace' voice made him turn his head toward the door.
He warmly smiled and greeted her likewise. "You're so beautiful today."
His compliment was due to her unusual, paler shade of red lipsticks today. And her shadows were not in her regular smokey eye design. He could not understand women, especially her. She was naturally beautiful but she always overdid her make - up, making her look like the evil protagonists in any of the those witchcraft movies.
The nurses laughed while she blushed. He made a quick glance over them and smiled. He ,then, continued flipping on the chart.
"Dr. Grace, may I ask a favor? " He said without turning his head towards her.
Dr. Grace was surprised. He's asking a favor? "Hmmn? "
"I would like to ask if you can cover for Mr. Dy? He's already doing fine and in a day or two, he could already be discharged."
Dr. Grace was, of course, very much willing but she had already commited to go with her parents to Saltlake City to visit the research lab.
"I'm sorry, Dr.Jim, but I and my parents will be flying somewhere tomorrow. I have already filed my leave."
He wanted to ask where and why her parents were here. He, quickly, realized that anytime her parents could visit her. They were also expanding their business in this country.
"I understand, doc. Don't mind it. "
He calmly replied but to Dr. Grace, it was another opportunity wasted.She wanted to cancel her flight but she knew it was not necessary. Dr.Jim could always ask for someone else? Where was he going?
While he was about to go to the patient's room, his phone rang.
"Dad! " He answered softly.
"See me in thirty minutes at the cafe downstairs." His dad demanded. He knew he was not in good mood.
At the cafe, his dad was already sipping his coffee when he arrived. He approached him and kissed his hand.
"Sit down. Coffee? "
"No, dad. Thanks."
He looked around and saw many pairs of eyes aimed at them. It was not oblivious to the staff, especially those who were serving in the institution for years already, that his dad was one of the greatest shareholders of the hospital.
"I saw it on the news today. The research PR was already slowly hinting about the launching of Hailey's Pen as well as the Pill. "
Jim's eyes narrowed. His dad was very serious.
"What is it, dad? " He asked, very confused.
His dad went on. "Before all those other big and famous institutions get crazy in acquiring the launching privilege, let's grab it first. In fact, the offer is first offered to us."
"I don't understand "Jim shook his head. Why would his dad need to go around in circles?
Mr. Wayne looked into his eyes sincerely. "Son, I hope you would understand that I need to be harsh. But, believe me, I'm doing this for you."
