All eyes followed the child as he hopped into Anthon's eyes. Most of them did not give any meaning to the scene. The fact that they chose Anthon to be the developer of Jian's Garden, must be because they were closely related. Dr. Wayne was Atty . Guevarra's brother, so perhaps, Engr. Rodriguez must be also tied to them through kinship. Of course, it was unlikely for them to hire an outsider if they have someone in their clan as able as him. This was the conclusion of almost everyone around but few of them had suspicions.

Why was this little child looked exactly like Anthon? Why was Engr.Rodriguez gloomy tonight? Why weren't they sitting down together in one table? Whatever their suspicions were, no one ever dared to open it up.

Anthon was really emotionally shaken tonight. Earlier in the afternoon, he finally met again his son whom he thought would never happen again. She met Jia again who was the object of his sorrow lately because of her marriage. And tonight, Jim was here, and in his very own eyes, he saw and heard very well that the only woman in his heart, was indeed taken inseparably by his business partner.

These were painful enough for him to bear but the most difficult to endure was the scene earlier between his son and his foster dad. Though he was grateful that Jim really loved him as his own to the extent that Jian's Garden was registered under his son's name, he could still not help himself from envying him. If only fate was not elusive to them, he could have been the only father that Jian would acknowledge.

Above all, this woman in front of him whom he loved ever since in their high school years and until now, would have been his.

If only he was not as coward as a lizard who was only good in hiding...If only he had refused to the request of his dying brother...If only... If only..

As he hugged Jian tightly, a tear brimmed in his eyes. Jian saw it and he raised a finger to touch it.

"Daddy Anthon, why are you crying?"

Jian asked him innocently, his wide, black eyes were staring straight into his.

Damn it, this child was exposing him! He hesitated, but thanks heavens, he quickly found an alibi.

"Your singing made me cry. I did not realize you can sing so well." He chuckled, realizing how crappy his alibi was.

"Just a bit. Mommy sings better." He smiled proudly as he looked over to his mom.

Anthon's eyes lit up when he recalled that Jia, indeed, could sing very well. He remembered that every December, their class did fund - raising activities through caroling. She was one of their guitarists and the one who lead their class in practicing out the songs.

"Ah, yes, I remember."

"Dad, did you also cry the first time you heard mommy sing? " Anthon suddenly wished that his son would just stop talking!

"Hmmm, I forgot."

"How can you be so forgetful? Was mommy not cute when she sang? " This child was already pestering him.

"You got your looks from her so she was also cute." Anthon somehow found a good answer.

Sensing that Anthon was getting uneasy with his questions, Giselle tried to rescue him by throwing questions herself.

"Baby, I'm auntie Giselle, your mom's bestfriend. How old were you when you started to sing? "

"Six month old!" Jian answered proudly, his eyes were popping out.

"Amazing. Who taught you, then? "Giselle persisted.

"Mommy. Daddy also taught me everytime we played

horsey - horsey."

Giselle paused and thought of some more questions. "Baby, to whom do you look like? "

"Auntie, what do you think? To whom do I look like? Try to compare me to Daddy Jim and Daddy

Anthon."

Giselle was dumbfounded! Does this child know the truth?

"What do you mean? " Giselle seemed unable yet to believe what she had just concluded.

Anthon's and Jia's heart raced. Though, Jia was not looking at them, she heard them well. There were also other people who were listening.Their secret might be exposed!

Jian leaned forward and whispered to Giselle's ear. "Auntie, daddy Anthon is my real father while daddy Jim is my father by heart."

Giselle was entirely caught by surprise! Just how old was this child? Why did he know the truth at such an early age? What's the point of telling him the truth when Jia would be marrying Jim?

When the waiter served food at Jim and Jia's table, kuya Nap came in.

"Miss Giselle, Engr. Anthon, please join us at our table so that you and Jim could discuss personally more about the business."

Jim turned to them and smiled. "Right, right, I am supposed to ask a private talk with Anthon but this is a much better idea. And Miss Giselle, please join us. Actually, Jia and I are planning to spend time with you."

Anthon and Giselle looked at each other and, after few seconds, they stood up to join them at the table. Giselle sat beside Jia who was sitting beside Jim. Jim, then moved, to make a space for Jian. Across them, was kuya Nap and beside him was Anthon.

"Shall we eat, first? "Jim smiled, his eyes really looked tired this time.

Jia noticed this and she became worried. "Jim, why don't you hurry up and grab a meal then let's go home so that you can rest. As for your business matters, I think it would be better to set it up next

time."

"Don't worry, dear. I'm fine. " Jim insisted.

"No, you're not. It's nonsense to argue." Jia was firm. Actually, her main reason was that she was just so uncomfortable to be in one place with these two men. This was her way of avoiding this.

" Sweetheart, forgive me for insisting this time. I'm afraid, I do not have much time. Believe me, I'm fine. "

Giselle sighed inwardly at their display of affection. She understood Jia's motive but Jim was just so naturally affectionate! She was just so afraid that Anthon would suddenly fall lifeless due to severe heartache!
