Behind the large Rosewood desk, Song Jia was trying her best to keep her focus solely on the file on her files, but it was hard for her to get her mind off of everything that happened last night. Her face reddened when she thought about how Wu Zhang didn't let her off the hook even this morning and she reached office in the afternoon— a very rare occurrence when she reached late and this time, it was way beyond late in her dictionary of a workaholic's definitions.

She could still feel her face heating up when she thought about how they woke up in each other's arms, with no clothes on any of their bodies. However setting everything apart, the mere thought that they made out in the open and that too when it was the first time for both of them, was enough to make her want to hide away in embarrassment. It was an equally shy and giddy feeling.

While she was struggling to focus, Wei XIn entered the office with a cup of coffee and files pending for Song Jia's review. "Here are the files you asked for and here is your coffee," she said as she placed everything on her desk and when their eyes met for a while, Wei Xin winked at her, making Song Jia flustered.

"What was that wink for?" Song Jia asked pretending as if nothing happened

"We both know what it is for, don't we?" Wei Xin asked with a smile, her eyes twinkling with mirth.

"I— I don't know what you are talking about." and with that Song Jia picked up the file she was reading and almost buried her head in it, finding it to be the most interesting written work ever, not wishing to lift her head anytime soon.

"What happened last night Jia?" Wei Xin asked again, not wishing to let her off the hook so soon. She found it really fun teasing her because she knew how shy she was.

"Nothing!" Song Jia snapped back bashfully. Even if she said no, the crimson color creeping up slowly from her neck to her face, said otherwise.

Wei Xin giggled seeing her reaction and finally decided to not tease her anymore. "Alright alright Young Miss, no more teasing, I swear!" She slapped her chest comically as she declared. It was rare for the two women to giggle and chat like young girls. And if somebody saw them joking like this right now, they would think they have seen their ghost, because these two wore the sternest face out of all at the company.

"Good for you, I would have to cut your salary for the month otherwise." Song Jia added to the humor as she took a sip of her coffee that was made to perfectly soothe her sweet tooth.

Wei Xin chuckled and Song Jia continued. "What's on my itinerary for today?"

Wei Xin unlocked her tablet and started speaking, "As for today, there is a lot on the list other than reviewing these files and a meeting with the production department in the evening."

"Perfect then, push the meeting early to be held at 5 and we'll be going to the hospital to see dad after that."

"See whom?" Wei Xin wasn't sure if she heard it correctly.

"Umm.. my dad?" Song Jia caught her tone and spoke in a slightly awkward tone.

"So you have reconciled I guess?" Wei Xin asked further, with an expressionless face.

"Yes, he saved my life by risking his, I can't hold the grudge any further. I almost lost him for good this time." She still remembered that scene with blood everywhere very clearly and every time felt a chill run down her spine

"So doing that makes up for everything that you suffered in the past because of him?"

"It does, and even if it doesn't then I think I still deserve to let go of that painful past now and move on in life which is only possible by forgiving him. And I see no problem in reconciling if he has realized his mistake and wants to amend his ways to me."

"But what about all the pain that you have been through? You will forget it all just like that?" Wei Xin was not a very forgiving person and therefore she pressed hard on her point of view. She hated Song Chen for all the pain Song Jia went through because of him and did not want her to forgive him so easily. Yes, he risked his life for her but he was also the person who made her life hell back then. And in her view sustaining that physical wound could never make up for the mental trauma that Song Jia had gone through for years.

"Remembering it just brings pain to me and I am tired of it. I don't want that shackle of pain around me anymore. It's not like we will become the happiest father and daughter duo in the world, but being on peace is far better than carrying that load of hatred and agony throughout the rest of my life." Song Jia had a very calm smile on her face and Wei Xin didn't miss it. It was the first time Song Jia was smiling while talking about her father and that itself showed how much she had grown because now she wasn't letting it affect her anymore.

"You have been through a lot, and if you are happy with your decision then I fully support it. You are happy and that is all that matters." She smiled at Song Jia who in return did the same.

Song Jia extended her hand and reached for Wei Xin's. She squeezed it gently and it confused Wei Xin a bit. "Thank you for being with me throughout. You are the kind of friend that everyone should have." Song Jia expressed her gratitude wholeheartedly and Wei Xin replied with a small sentence. "I am always there for you."
