And indeed, Shen Tianyu was right. The Princess Wen Ya was not an easy opponent. Though she might not have had as much real life experience, it could be seen that she has been trained harshly. Her moves were all heavy hits with all the glamor that her reputation has. Her partner, on the other hand, merely sent some attacks occasionally, as if he was having a hard time finding an opening in her style. The ease that those attacks had at landing, though, made it seem not to be the case. Though her partner was not of much help, the Junzhu herself was practically single-handedly suppressing her opponents. They kept being pushed closer to the edge of the stage.

Shen Tianyu narrowed her eyes as she looked at Wen Ya. The Junzhu's fighting style was indeed extravagant and glamorous, however, it might be intentional. Every move exuded authority, but because the swings were so wide, it was also easy to counterattack. The Junzhu seemed to be completely aware of this and was alert at all times, even in the middle of her attack. Her style fit her reputation, but her reputation might not fit her for real. This got Shen Tianyu thinking. 'Was the reputation something she built, or was it spread at the behest of someone? A person this cautious would not easily offend others, much less, be so domineering as to publicly disregard the citizens as she did that day.' She didn't question why no one noticed or anything like that. People were always blinded by the extravagance and power of the Imperial Family but never bothered to think about what was underneath, or maybe they did not want to. But the more brilliant and extravagant a place or thing was, the more they had to hide. Just like those cities she had been to in her previous life, the blinding wealth of one part of the city completely overshadowed and hid the despairing alternative of poverty.

Imperial families may be the most extravagant and blinding position for everyone but it also held the most secrets and bloodshed. Hence the term "bloody throne". An Emperor needs to shed blood to attain the throne and afterwards, shed even more blood to keep it. Sometimes, one would be obsessed enough with that golden dragon throne and the benefits that came with it, to intentionally plot the fall of their own descendants, merely to keep it for a bit longer. The Emprors of Jing Qie and Xi Qi may be praised as wise right now, and perhaps they were, but how long can they stay "wise" in such a position of power? Yes, there were sects and such that could force or coerce them to do things, but they were still rulers of a country.

She felt her hips being hugged by someone as she was thinking and looked up. Rong Jian was looking down at her with worried eyes. She smiled back at him.

"I'm fine, I was just thinking."

"Thinking what?" Rong Jian leaned in to hear her little story, arm still on her hips. Shen Tianyu also did not mind much.

"I was thinking this Junzhu's style, though extravagant, was also cautious. And someone like that, was unlikely to have her reputation."

"Though the fighting style was like that, did not mean the person was like that."

"But a fighting style, no matter how trained, would still have a little bit of the person's personality in it. It is, after all, the style a person chooses to fight with."

"So Tian'er thinks there is something going on with the Junzhu?" Shen Tianyu merely made a noise of agreement. "What do you plan to do if she does have a situation?" rong Jian asked.

"Help her and try to recruit her, of course." Shen Tianyu answered as if that was natural.

Rong Jian knitted his brows in disapproval. "How come?"

"We, ah, don't really have that big of a problem between us. I participated in this Tournament mostly out of interest, you do know that right? And look at her right now, she's like this from just a few years of training and at a Foundation Establishment level, imagine how she'd be once she gets to a higher level. Of course it would be better for me to have her as a subordinate when she's this talented."

Rong Jian raised his brow. "Tian'er calls her talented?" He looked at her with questioning eyes. Shen Tianyu, on the other hand, rolled her eyes. 'This one, is he a monster or has he become too used to monsters in cultivation?' She then shook her head. 'No, no. He's form a different continent, I shouldn't put him up to the same standards as me. Perhaps, where he is, what we consider monsters in cultivation, are actually common.'

"What is it now? Does your head hurt?" Rong Jian tenderly touched the side of her head.

"No, I'm fine, I just think too much."

"What is Tian'er thinking about, that you can't even tell me?"

"I'm just thinking I'm glad I participated in this tournament. There are so many talents to meet, and most of them, the younger ones at least, are gathered here."

"If Tian'er wants talented subordinates, I can just give you some instead of you having to go to so much trouble to bring them to your side."

Shen Tianyu clicked her tongue. "You don't understand, Young Master. If a subordinate is gifted, they can be a potential danger, but if they are brought to one's side and cultivated, they'll be less of a danger."

"Why does Tian'er say so?"
