"If a subordinate is given, they don't have feelings towards their new master and might even resent them for being separated from their former masters, therefore, increasing the chance that they could betray their new master. One that is roped in and brought back, on the other hand, has to be cultivated. Not mentioning the resources lost to train them, they would have spent more time with their master, thereby building a good, healthy relationship of trust and friendliness. Which, reduces the chances of a betrayal. Therefore, to grow an organization in the long term, one must have weak but talented cultivators, so that they can be nurtured to be loyal. Of course, there are always rare cases where one is not grateful for the boon given to them, but not everyone is like that. The benefits outweigh the risks." Shen Tianyu explained her analysis of people's general psychology. In heer old world, this kind of thing might be easily thought of due to all the simple psychology related things lying around. However, in this kind of jungle-like world where one is rarely given the chance to rest and think, analyzing things other than their opponent, this might be a new discovery.

Rong Jian's eyes twinkled, indeed as if he's made a new discovery. Perhaps peole in this world were just unconsciously recruiting subordinates and such without really analyzing it.

Shen Tianyu sighed. "You, how do you people even recruit then? Was this kind of logic not behind what you guys do?"

Rong Jian put his other hand under his chin, stroking it in thought. "I think I just followed what everyone else did. Since everyone does it, no one really takes the time to think too deeply you know? Rather than having that kind of logic, it was more that everyone just kind of tacitly understood how it worked but couldn't put it in words or couldn't be bothered to do so. It's more along the lines of 'If you have time to think about such useless things, then use that time and energy to do something else that's more beneficial to your cultivation and strength', right?"

"Ah.. That makes sense, yeah." Shen Tianyu nodded along. "So in Jian Lang's eyes, my analysis is a waste of time and energy, I see..." She kept nodding.

Hearing the second part of her statement, Rong Jian began to panic a bit, no matter what, he was still young. "No! That's not what I meant! It's just, that's what other people think so I voiced it too. I definitely don't think Tian'er is wasting her time or energy! In fact, i think Tian'er is smarter than most people, being able to think of this while so young. Tian'er is really a genius!" He started to pamper her with praise, calling her witty and smart to try to coax her back into a good mood.

Seeing such a desperate Rong Jian, completely different from the normal calm and collected, yet a little teasing Prince actually made Shen Tianyu somewhat happy. As a result, she burst out laughing.

"Haha! What are you so panicky for? I'm not that mad." Shen Tianyu told him while holding her sides laughing.

"Because I thought Tian'er was mad." Rong Jian scratched his cheeks a bit in embarrassment. "No need to laugh so hard, people are looking..."

After a while of laugher, Shen Tianyu finally calmed down. There were people giving the couple various looks, of jealousy, annoyance or otherwise, but they were all ignored. The two turned back o watch the stage to see the Junzhu Wen Ya push the last opponent off the stage. The first one had been pushed off while the two were talking, apparently. As soon as he stepped off the stage, the official went up to announce the end of the match. After which, Wen Ya and her partner walked off the stage, one with a black face and the other with an apologetic look. The next group of opponents were already on their way up the stage.

"You useless thing! Only knows how to drag me down!" Right before the start of the next match, a shout sounded throughout the plaza. Looking over, the Junzhu Wen Ya was scolding her partner, who had more or less, contributed nothing to their match. "If it wasn't because I had to pair up with someone and that all the talented people were already taken, I would never pair myself up with trash like you!" Some people internally agreed with her statement, no one wanted a useless partner, but they would never show it. On the surface, they all put on facades of sympathy, helpless anger, and annoyance. They all hated her so even if she was being reasonable, no one would side with her. She kept admonishing her partner and her partner just stood there looking pitiful with his head hanging and shrunk into his shoulders. Even his ears and face were red as a lucky knot, except this really was unlucky for him. In actuality, some of the people she asked might not have been paired at the time she asked, but merely rejected her that way so they didn't have to deal with her, yet they couldn't reject her outright and give that reasoning so they could only make up a partner and find one once she left.

Shen Tianyu merely threw them a cursory glance before turning back to the stage again. This time, the official had to raise his voice even more to be heard over the din of Wen Ya's public scolding, which made him more annoyed at her, but he could never voice his grievances lest even his distant relatives suffered that Junzhu's wrath. The Crown Prince acted as if he did not hear his cousin sister yelling at her partner, at the top of her lungs, at all. His partner, after being startled initially, also followed his example in completely ignoring her. Gradually, everyone in the plaza followed their example. The Crown Prince was acting like this, how could they not follow? They still haven't curried favor with him.
