"Then let's go back to Lavender Palace. I don't want to be in the sun again after eating out. We can have the chefs make some dishes for us. We still haven't celebrated making it this far in the Tournament, we could bother them for a bit." She said this like a suggestion but she was already walking in the direction of the Flower District, Rong Jian following obediently behind her, holding the umbrella, like a dog or servant.

They woke up some of the best chefs that work at Lavender Palace and had a little feast with Luo Shue who had come out for a break from refining pills again. With how long she spends her time locked up in a room refining pills, it's a wonder she would ever be able to make friends. They talked and laughed about nothing in particular, those that woke up a little earlier for the night time work had the honor of joining their little feast.

"Come on, come on! It's not like we could finish it ourselves anyways!" Shen Tianyu would beckon, a cup of juice or water in hand. They resumed a normal human schedule, going to sleep as the Palace opened shop. Thankfully, the rooms on the fourth floor had sound insulation so none of the noise downstairs could travel there. Otherwise, with so much noise, Shen Tianyu probably wouldn't be able to sleep.

...

The next day consisted of two more matches, numbers three and two. It was nothing much in the eyes of the two dragon amongst men and Shen Tianyu lamented that she couldn't just sleep in and avoid the boring fights to Rong Jian. In a low enough voice that they wouldn't be overheard so they no one would yell at them in indignation.

...

The third day was finally Rong Jian's day to fight. The contestant from Xi Qi didn't look like a pushover either, but in Shen Tianyu's eyes, it was still useless. The now familiar rhythm of the battle drums sounded, signaling the beginning of the match. Unlike the others, the two didn't bother with false formalities. Rong Jian already knew who Yue Yan was. The second son of the Prime Minister of Jing Qie, born of a concubine. His eldest half-brother was already making waves in politics and had won the last Goodwill Tournament. The people saw him as inferior to his half-brother in every way yet he splendidly ignored them all and did everything his own way. Even now, he wasn't very close with a lot of the noble children so many speculated that he did not intend to go into politics. That wasn't a surprise to Shen Tianyu, after all, who wanted to work for and with people that only knew how to look down on you? That would drive anyone insane. As for Rong Jian, though he was a commoner just like Shen Tianyu, because of all the ruckus surrounding him, it wasn't hard to find out what he was, in the eyes of the public anyways. In addition, he got placed first on the list of contestants so there was that to add to the already unique flair.

Yue Yan attacked first, kicking up a decent sized wind from his speed. He held his sword right in front of him, aiming to stab Rong Jian's vital points. However, Rong Jian just knocked his sword aside and gave him a kick at his ribs. He flew sideways like a kite, whose string had been cut but managed to get his feet on the ground and slide to a stop. Half his left foot was hanging off the stage. He charged at Rong Jian again. The latter wanted to end things quickly so his beloved wife to be could go back and get some more sleep and do more fun everyday things with him instead of staying here and watching this staged performance. The former wanted to best the other, whether because he wanted to showcase his skills or out of some inferiority complex. It was really sad looking at the two's mentalities, where Rong Jian was completely disregarding his opponent.

This time around, Rong Jian dodged Yue Yan's sword strike and struck his chest with his wooden sword, adding in another kick which successfully made him land off the stage. Shen Tianyu sighed and wiped a silent tear that had been forming at the corner of her eye. 'Sorry bro, our family's Jian-lang is just too strong! Condolences on your loss, may you live a good life and get picked by a good sect.'

Rong Jian didn't even wait for the Master of Ceremonies to reagain his wits and simply walked off the stage, heading towards the sighing Shen Tianyu, whose cheeks were in her hand, lamenting the fate of the boy who had to face off against her suitor in their first round of the tournament. This will be a huge blow to, not only their side's morale, but also the young man's confidence, ah!

Rong Jian stopped in front of her and held out a hand. "Let's go Tian'er."

She looked up and smiled before she put her hand in his, being led out of the stadium by that hand. she was aware he was still angry at the Emperor and his officials for her placing and she didn't mind either. Just because she didn't pursue it didn't mean she wasn't upset or slightly angry about it. The comments slung at her by the spectators might have something to do with that too. They didn't wait for the Master of Ceremonies and the others were still shocked he had the audacity to walk off stage unceremoniously like that and hadn't recovered yet. Then, two of the contestants had left just like that.

It wasn't until they were halfway down the tunnel passage of the participants' exit that noise finally filled the stadium again. Some were yelling about the audacity of these two contestants, probably red-faced from anger or humiliation or both. Others were just cheering for the fight and demanding for more. It was understandable as the people had come to see the show, yet the only "show" scheduled for today ended before they could even blink.
