The officials also snapped out of it by now and ordered the guards to quiet the commoners down and usher them safely out the stadium lest there be a riot. The cause of the problem was walking unconcernedly back to the city along with the secondary cause. The guards had received orders to deal with the peasants and no one bothered with them, not that they could anyway. They both just smiled in amusement as they listened to the chaos in the stadium. Once they were far enough away, Shen Tianyu burst out into laughter, still holding onto Rong Jian's hand.

"Hahahaha! This is what a tournament should be like! Lively and loud, just like a festival!" Her free hand was clutching her stomach, which was mildly aching from the hard laughter. Rong Jian merely smiled as he looked as his laughing companion. When they were almost at the city, she finally composed herself and rearranged her clothes, wiping her face to make sure she got rid of tears of laughter.

...

The next day was supposed to be a rest day before the next round starts. The second round of the Goodwill Tournament was always the highlight of the show. This was because it was more or less a "Talent Show". The contestants would bring out their own weapons that were most familiar with and fight another round. Just because this was a Cultivation world doesn't mean everyone specialized in swords. There were many people that used unusual weapons, though the baseline for practicing cultivation was always a sword so everyone was most familiar with that. However, even among swords, there were different types such as, long swords, sabers, katanas and so on. Some would use musical instruments, which the fanciest and most elegant style but also the hardest to master. People that didn't want to focus on the usual double-edged sword usually chose other weapons easier to master like spears, halberds, hammers and such. Some even used fans, though due to a fan's short reach and flimsy nature, it usually was not picked up but those that do use them as a weapons are usually renowned.

In any case, a messenger from the Jing Qie Imperial Palace arrived at Lavender Palace. The messenger eunuch first congratulated the two contestants for their victories then slowly delved into a speech that was more aimed at admonishing their actions yesterday. The Emperor couldn't outright punish them for it as they were still the country's face for now so he had used this somewhat roundabout way to settle things. It was the usual lectures of virtues, saying women should do their duty and men should not be too easily moved. Shen Tianyu, instead of paying attention to the lecture, was wondering if the Emperor intended to have them kneel and listen to this kinda of thing the whole day. No matter what, Lavender Palace was still a business and obstructing business like this was certainly not going to please the Palace Master, especially when you were doing this to admonish his guests. She began wondering about various things from political matters such as the relations between the Emperors of Jing Qie and Xi Qi to what she wanted to eat for dinner to the discomfort of kneeling on hard ground to questioning if she should renovate the ground so if something like this happens again, she wouldn't feel as uncomfortable. Basically, she wasn't listening at all yet stared at the eunuch's feet like she was repenting. On the other hand, Rong Jian was bored and kept stealing glances at her.

After a while the eunuch really couldn't take being so utterly ignored by Ring Jian that he stopped his speech and coughed. "Ahem. Young Master Rong, the Emperor had sent this message in order to educate you. Look at your companion, she's reflecting seriously, yet why do you ignore Imperial advice?" He was annoyed but he really couldn't do much to them as a eunuch so he threw out the "Imperial" card.

Shen Tianyu was slowly brought out of her wondering and snapped her head up to look at the eunuch. "Huh? Are we done? Can we go now? I'm hungry."

There was a short silence that ensued. The reactions of the two people staring at her couldn't be more different. One was trying not to laugh out loud, his cheeks puffed up, one hand holding his stomach and one hand curled into a fist, hitting his thigh. The other was shaking with a red face, the message scroll only held in one hand, having been dropped by one of his hands, which was currently also in a fist, shaking. The eunuch finally found his voice amidst his rage and pointed his finger at the two on the ground, one with a calm face the other still trying to hold back laughter. "YOU! YOU TWO!" and he kept repeating that, not seeming able to find more words.

Rong Jian coughed into a fist before he regained his kneeling posture again. "The Emperor was talking about virtues and whatnot when he himself can't follow virtues, what kind of nonsense is this?" The first thing that came out of his mouth was a sharp knife. Before the eunuch could respond, he continued. "Tian'er obviously beat both the Crown Prince and Junzhu is why was she placed fifth? You say those numbers don't mean anything but we all know the numbers indicated their strength within that country's participants. You can say you suspect cheating yet you never bothered to carry out an investigation. At most, you only asked a few people some questions as a pretense. Therefore, you have no concrete proof. You don't carry out justice boldly yet still suppress someone, what kind of virtue is this? You suspect her of cheating for defeating all her opponents but have I not done the same? Why is only she suspected of cheating? Because you people see women as inferior, that's why you pinned the false claim on her instead of me. Men like you are nothing but rotten scum. Think you!re so great just because you have something extra in between your legs? Why don't you give birth then? That's the ultimate job is it not? Giving descendants. You say you keep women locked up and train them to do housework like servants in order to protect them yet you never acknowledge their value. When you can't get a son, it's always blamed on the woman, even if the man has a whole harem of wives and concubines and none of them have sons. Logically, that would then be the fault of the man, yet no one has ever spoken of such things. And not just in descendant giving but in other things too."
