Jing Lan somewhat embarrassed as he tried to come up with an explanation/ He knew him worrying about face would not blow over well with the Empress. The Emperor of Xi Qi tried to mediate to no avail as the empress ignored even his words.

'Hm? The Emperor used to have feelings for the Empress? No one would think that ever happened if you look at them now. Sigh. How fleeting happiness is, and same goes for one's feelings.' Shen Tianyu chuckled to herself. On the other hand, Rong Jian's face become more impassive, covering up his anger, if he was feeling angry about it.

Xi Qi's Crown Prince, Xi Yeng, finally came back with his weapon. It looked strikingly similar to the naginata from Shen Tianyu's world. It was similar to a spear but the blade was a little curved on one side, the side usually used to cut an opponent. Also, the blade part was longer than a normal spear.

Rong Jian stood up, grabbing his spear and walked towards the stage, but not before throwing a wink at Shen Tianyu which the latter ignored. With a somewhat exaggerated distraught expression, he stepped on the stage, his mask still on his face. The Master of Ceremonies started the match without mentioning the mask, either because he was in a hurry or he just didn't think it would be harmful.

Rong Jian's spear was slightly shorter than Xi Yeng's naginata. However, in actuality, Rong Jian has had more practice with his weapon than the other. Length might determine the winner for beginners, but once you get to a certain point, experience and familiarity with your own weapon was what mattered most. The naginata's measly advantage was reduced to nothing with Rong Jian's experience and practice. Though, no one knew this except Shen Tianyu. She sat back in her seat, withdrawing her hearing, no longer eavesdropping on the royal couple and Emperor. Instead, she focused on the stage with laughter in her eyes.

Perhaps he was confident in his weapon or it's distance advantage, Rong Jian was the first to race forward. However, before he could attack, Xi Yeng swept his naginata, trying to block and fend off Rong Jian. Rong Jian merely sneered as he used his spear to counter, holding the naginata up and sliding between the spear-like weapon and the ground, using his momentum from running to propel himself forward. Surprised, Xi Yeng tried to press his naginata down, but it was countered by Rong Jian's spear holding it above his body. When he was close enough to strike, Rong Jian rolled one round to the left and came up on his knees, one hand holding his spear. Guessing what the other would do, Xi Yeng retracted his naginata to protect himself. However, he was already within striking distance, and his speed couldn't match Rong Jian's. The latter swung his spear diagonally as the former stepped back and guarded his body with his left arm. The remaining mark was a deep cut into his flesh, but not enough to see his tendons. Trying to take some of the burden off his now injured left arm, Xi Yeng wielded his naginata mainly with his right now. Rong Jian followed up his first strike with a barrage of attacks, all of which were being blocked with the shaft of the naginata.

'This one... has a very bad personality when it comes to fights.' Shen Tianyu quirked her lips up as she gazed at the one-sided fight with seemingly polite interest. 'Is he trying to make his arms useless? He's still a crown prince you know?'

The force of Rong Jian's strikes were strong enough to numb Xi Yeng's arms, even if he was using his left arm to support. He knew he wouldn't be able to hold up for long, but like Jing Yiqiu, as a Crown Prince of a nation, he could not and would not kneel. Not only his reputation, the reputation of all his supporters, his parents and his nation were on his shoulders. He must not kneel.

The next strike from Rong Jian was stronger than all his previous ones, knocking the Crown Prince off his feet, making him fall on the stage with his behind, and his arms trying to break the fall, which only made his wound worse as his face twitched in pain. He brought his face up only to be faced with the pointy tip of Rong Jian's spear.

"Surrendering is not a disgrace. You can not do great things if you are dead." Rong Jian told him. He seemed to have seen through the other's mentality. Well, he was also a prince after all, even if he was undercover for the time being.

Xi Yeng gulped as he stared at Rong Jian for a little more. He clenched his fists as if finally coming to a decision and turned to the Master of Ceremonies, Rong Jian's spear still pointed at him, and opened his mouth. "I concede." He spoke loud and clear for everyone to hear.

The Master of Ceremonies made the announcement with a melancholy face. The match they had pushed up trying to erase the happenings at the end of the previous ended just like that. It wasn't even half an incense stick of time! The crowds were about to make a ruckus again but the Empress of Xi Qi had already left her seat and rushed to the stage, just like her friend from before. She had been clutching and wringing her handkerchief with a straight face until it tore, before she just settled with clutching her hands into fists, her nails digging into flesh, but ignored the pain.

"Physicians! Where are the physicians! Hurry and tend to my Yeng-er!" She yelled as she flew towards the stage, the words ending the match having barely left the Master of Ceremonies's mouth. The Physicians once again rushed onto the stage to treat the injured. At least this time, it was just one person they needed to pay attention to.

'Poor things, dealing with so many injuries in such a short time... I hope they're getting paid enough for all this stress.' Shen Tianyu somewhat pitied these hardworking physicians. She was in the same position since the match started and didn't seem to have any intention of getting up.
