The guard tried to hide his shaking as he recieved the Identification plaque. His hands were still enough but his face couldn't completely hide his shaken expression. 'Good thing I didn't do anything to offend her. She must be from a big power to own a Cosmos bag.'

The guard checked the Identification plaque to make sure it was valid and handed it back to her with both hands. "Please go straight in on your own and enter the main hall at the end of the main road to officially register. You are not allowed to wander around the school grounds nor are you allowed to bring a companion with you that is not taking the test." At this he looked at the man beside her and slightly dipped his head in apology. "You are allowed to bring in your own personal weapon but are not allowed to hurt other students or applicants. However, any storage devices including sacks that are not Cosmos bags will be confiscated when you register in order to avoid cheating. You will also be searched for any hidden weapons, which are against the School rules as well as the entrance exam rules. Though it will only be a patdown and applicants needn't strip. The test will start in one shichen when everyone has registered. Please follow the instructions of the proctor throughout the exam."

Shen Tianyu nodded in understanding at the guard and thanked him before she turned to her fiancee. "I need to go in and wait. With this many people, I reckon the registration line is quite long."

"Alright. I'll wait for you." He nodded and squeezed her hand.

"No. What will you even be doing, waiting out here? People will talk bad about for making you wait in the sun for so long. Just go back to the Wangfu and do some work. Come back to pick me up when the test is over." She objected.

"How long will the test take?" He frowned at being shooed away by his wife.

"Didn't you take it before? How fast was the first person? It should end around that time." She replied with a raised brow.

"It's usually takes form two shichen to the whole day, depending on the talents of the year that are taking the exam and the amount of people that they need to go through."

"Hm... that's troublesome... I'll just go back on my own then." She said, as she lightly stroked her chin.

Rong Jian made a slight pouty face at that.

"Well, I'm not going to let you wait all day for me out in the sun, especially when you have work to do." She said, seeing his pout and putting her free hand on her hip in helplessness.

"But... I want to be the first want to congratulate Tian'er for passing." He whined as he swung their connected hands like a child.

She let out a helpless smile and thought about it some more. "Then, how about leaving someone here and when that person sees me come out, he can go inform you to come? I can just wait for you here."

Rong Jian gave it some thought and agreed that it was a good compromise. "Okay. But you musn't follow other people nor enter another's carriage."

"You... how old do you think I am?" She asked, a little annoyed.

The two parted their hands, Shen Tianyu walking through the gates as Rong Jian watched her go. Neither of them bothered with the crowd of applicants and their families who were watching them the whole time, even when they pretended to be talking to each other. Rong Jian watched until Shen Tianyu was out of sight from outside the wide open gates before he turned back to his carriage. The driver, without needing to be told, whipped the horses and headed back to the Zhu Wangfu.

Once both of them were out of sight, the gossiping of the crowd reached a fervor pitch.

"Who was that just now?"

"Wasn't the man Zhu Wangye?"

"Are we even talking about the same Wangye?"

"Yeah, he never even bothered to look at other women, no matter how high their status, much less escort them anywhere."

"Then who was the man?"

"Shouldn't you be asking who was the woman to have Zhu Wangye escort her?"

"No, no. You should be asking whether that man even WAS Zhu Wangye. After all, his mask is his trademark, everyone knows that. Only his family has seen his face."

"You're saying he could be an imposter?"

"Then what about the five-clawed dragon on the carriage? Surely if he was an imposter, he wouldn't be bold enough to drive around in carriage with a five-clawed dragon, he could be beheaded!"

"That's exactly why he dares, is it not? Who would dare to question the identity of a Qinwangye?"

These kinds of discussions were flowing through the people. Whether that really was Zhu Wangye or not, they couldn't come to a conclusion. However, as the deadline for registering was near, they didn't bother to linger too long on this debate. Who cares if it really was Zhu Wangye or not? They were here to take the entrance exam!

Shen Tianyu walked down the stone-paved road, known as the main road, to the main hall. It was a wide road big enough to fit a two-horse drawn carriage. However, because classes had yet to start, it  was quite empty as was the vicinity around it. She could occassionally see disciples running along the road only to veer off at some point, perhaps to some kind of training ground. And despite the vast number of people lining up at the gates, there wasn't anyone walking in front of or behind her. Chengyuan School, unlike most other training institutes, did not discriminate people based on their social status nor their cultivation level. The principal understood that the reason powerful cultivators were concentrated in the upper class of the wealthy was because they had the finances to nourish the talent, but that didn't mean low-income or poor people couldn't have talent in cultivation too. As long as you could cultivate, anyone was welcome to try to enroll in the School and the entrance exam was made based around that idea. It did test one's cultivation, but it didn't make a person's cultivation the deciding factor for if they would get in or not. It also looked at one's potential, physical abilities, reflexes, character, and dedication. In order for there to not be cheating among friends and families, they changed the tests each year so even if someone knew another person who got in, it wouldn't help them pass the test no matter hopw detailed the recount was. Though the tests constantly changed, the core elements that they tested remained the same.
