After waiting for half a shichen, which was relatively fast for the amount of people they were dealing with, Shen Tianyu finally arrived at the front of the line. The officer looked to be a student that was grudgingly put in charge of recording applicants. There was no facial expression on him or any of the other officers and none of them tried to make conversation. All of them were wearing the uniform of Chengyuan School, a robe of soft purple mixed with white. The school's emblem of the name of the school atop of green bamboo stalks. The officer in charge of her line had her take out her identification plaque and asked her which division she wanted to enroll in. He then recorded her name in a booklet, before giving her the a normal wooden plaque with the number the written next to her name and her identification plaque was stored away in a Cosmo bag next to the booklet. She was then discreetly shooed away and the officer shouted for the next person to come up. With half a shichen left, Shen Tianyu decided to sit and wait for it to start. Making friends at this stage was pointless since you don't know anyone, nor who might backstab you during the exam. Also, it would be upsetting if you got in but your friend didn't, which might also cause unnecessary trouble upon oneself due to unjust hatred. However, there were too many people, some of which she suspected had been waiting at the gates since last night due to their visible eye bags and haggard faces, so any seat available was long taken. Not to mention some of the applicants that were sitting, or most of them, were also taking a nap, despite the noise. So, unfortunately for the lazy Shen Tianyu, there was no available seat, resulting in her standing with ther arms crossed in a corner of the hall, staring into space. Due to her beautiful face and somewhat aloof aura, seeing as she was escorted by a Qinwangye, no one dared to approach her either. Even though she had gotten somewhat acquainted with Ningwu Liushan, they weren't going to suddenly become buddies in this competitive atmosphere anyways.

...

It was finally time for the entrance exam to start and the officers that were in charge of registration cut off their lines. Those that were still in line were promptly ushered out and, emotionlessly, told to try again next year. The student officers gathered at the head of the hall and, who was assumed to be the leader, called out for everyone to quiet down.

"Alright, quiet down please. The entrance exam is about to start!" Everyone immediately shut their mouths, they had all been covertly paying attention to the officers who were in charge after all.

The leader made a hand signal and all the other officers quickly left through the back door. He then put his hands behind his back and looked out at everyone. Now that Shen Tianyu was looking at him more attentively, the officer had an air of authority but was not arrogant. He seemed strict but not overbearing, perfect for a teacher and leader. His facial features also weren't bad and his posture displayed his dignity. He wasn't the one in charge of her line but the one two rows down from hers.

"I will explain the rules of the exam and what it entails now. This will not be repeated so listen carefully." He began. There was an audible collective gulp of nervousness throughout the room that Shen Tianyu did not participate in. "As I'm sure everyone knows, the Chengyuan School is separated into 2 divisions: the Cultivation Division and the Medical Division. Each division has five departments, or levels, depending on which division you are enrolled in. The Cultivation Division has the Sword Department, the Fist Department, and the Beast Taming Department in addition to the Talisman and Array Department. The Medical Division has these departments as "Stages". The Physical Injury Stage, teaches first aid and other injury related medicines; the Internal Medicine Stage is in charge of internal imbalances or injury of the body; the Poison Stage is where one learns about the different types of poisons of this world and what could be used to counter them or how to make the antidotes; the Pills Stage teaches one how to make pills, including cultivation pills."

The "surgery" that Shen Tianyu had introduced to Tian Yu, Luo Shue's Master, was something that only the three of them knew about more or less. The other members of Yaodu only had an inkling of it too, most of whom weren't very interested in it. The outside world had yet to learn of it, therefore, even at a place like Chengyuan School, renowned for it's education, they don't have any mention of it, much less a department in it.

"Each part of the exam will test you in the departments of the division you signed up for. The Medical Division may be more lax in it's acceptance rate but most of you will be accepted only on a trial basis because the elders understand how hard it is to learn medicine outside Schools so be thankful. However, if you don't present any good results at the Final Exam of the year, you will be expelled from the School. You are welcome to try again the year after next. For those that signed up for the Cultivation Division, if you use a weapon that isn't listed within the Departments, that's also fine. You will be free to choose which department you wish to be enrolled in. However, you must have basic knowledge of both the Sword and the Fist. If you get accepted by another department with subpar scores in those two fields, you will still need to take lessons from those two Departments. If you wish to concentrate on further studies with your own weapon then sorry, we do not have that many experts to teach you. If you wish to enroll in more than one Department, well, that's doable depending on your scores. You are allowed to use your own weapon but during the Sword portion of the test, you will be provided with a school sword if you did not bring your own. No cheating is allowed and you are also not allowed to sabotage another applicant. If you are found to be breaking these two simple, common sense, rules you will be banned from stepping half a foot through the gates of Chengyuan School for all eternity. Are there any other questions?" He concluded as he swept the room with his eyes.

Shen Tianyu raised her hand from her corner, which was noticed by him. He pointed his chin at her, allowing her to speak. "What if we wish to enroll in more than one division?" She asked. She had signed up for the Cultivation Division when asked but it would be beneficial if she could further her studies in poison too.

The officer smirked at her calm and cool demeanor. "Confident, aren't we?"

"I was just wondering. It would be better if a cultivator can provide first aid for themselves, after all." She smiled politely. She wasn't going to tell him she wanted to be in the Poison Department, that was one of the more advanced Stages. He'd definitely think she was overconfident and make things hard for her if he knew.

"Hmph. You can sign up for lessons in the other Division when the School officially starts. You can try to get into the other Division during the Final Exam of the year. Or, if you want a faster route, you can apply for Assessment one month after you have entered. In that case, though, you'll have to past the test in all it's different Stages, rather than being able to focus solely on one." He answered in a melancholic tone.

Shen Tianyu gave him a bow in the form of a small dip of her figure as thanks. He then returned to looking for more questions, which there wasn't any more of.

"Since you are all ready, separate into two groups depending on the Division you signed up for." He clapped his hands twice and two of the officers that had left before, came back in through the back door.

'What was the point in them leaving then?' Shen Tianyu asked within her mind. 'Perhaps to help with the preparations and check if everything was in order?' She answered her own question.

"The ones that signed up for the Cultivation Division will follow her to the exam grounds." The officer in charge indicated to the girl on his left. She had a willow-like aura around her, soft and bendable but with an undercurrent of violence for if one ever tries to mess with her. "The Medical Division will follow him to the Medical Division's exam grounds." The speaker indicated to the man on his right, a teen with bright eyes and a warm smile.1 hr
