"Ah, yes. It's in the southeast of the city, in the middle of the residential district for the distinguished generational families."

"Okay. I should probably be able to find it if I asked around there. I'll come over to play some time."

"Of course, you are always welcome."

...

And just then a certain person wearing the Chengyuan School's uniform and the Officer's badge stepped into the edge of the Square. There were still a few people to wait for so he didn't immediately walk to the middle but instead lingered at the edge. Shen Tianyu, as well as the other two young men, noticed him but since he wasn't making any move to push through the crowd or get anyone's attention, they ignored him.

As more of the final applicants filed into the square, that was when the young man at the edge started to move. Rather, he climbed one of the buildings on the side as the trio watched him with indifferent expressions. On the other hand, the other people that finally noticed him were expressing shock and awe that he'd have the courage to climb the buildings of the Chengyuan School, student or not. He then jumped from the building closest to the square and jumped, landing perfectly on the tiger at the top of the fountain.

"All of you, listen up!" He crossed his arms and projected his voice across the square, causing the slower witted ones to finally take notice of him. "We will now begin the last assessment of Chengyuan School's Entrance Exam! It will be a two part test, a written and a practical. Both of them are counted as one assessment and the time it takes for you to finish both will be converted into your score along with your final score in both tests. Just being fast and answering randomly will not get you a pass. Now, follow me to the venue for the written part of the assessment!" He finished without room for questions and jumped down from the top of the fountain. The crowd naturally parted in front of him as he left the circle of applicants and walked westward with lively steps. He didn't afford time for questions but the explanation was pretty simple and if they didn't want to be deemed as slow they had to follow right away.

The proctor led them to a big indoor gymnasium with barely enough space to accomodate them all within it's three levels of steps and the pit at the center. There were no tables or any place to sit except the ground and steps.

"In order to keep everything fair, I will pass out the written exams to everyone and when you hand me your paper, I will let you take the next part of the exam. Cinnabar sticks will also be provided as writing utensils since it'd make too much of a mess if we use brush and ink." He explained as everyone took their seats. Everyone was thinking the initial part of the exam would take all day, there were almost one thousand applicants and only one proctor, how fast could he pass out the exams? However, he produced a talisman from the bag at his waist and a huge stack of papers that reached above his head by a whole arm's length. He blew on the talisman and stuck it to the stack of papers which then scattered as if blown away. As everyone was worried about the papers getting lost, some of them floated in front of the applicants and landed in their outstretched hands. More and more papers landed in front of the applicants or on their hands until everyone had a sheet, all in just two blinks.

Shen Tianyu reached out and calmly caught her sheet of paper when it stopped in front of her. Ningwu Liushan was a little more flustered, causing the paper to fall on his lap before he picked it up. Bai Longtian just sat there with his arms crossed and only bent to pick up his sheet when it fell onto the ground at his feet, seemingly too afraid of him to land on his person.

As the other applicants were exclaiming their awe and admiration, the proctor did the same thing with a box of cinnabar the size of a wooden lunchbox and everyone had a writing utensil in no time, though seemingly a bit crude for those of arrogant standing. Ningwu Liushan and Bai Longtian didn't seem to have any complaints about it though, so they could only make faces at the sticks of red minerals.

"When you pass me your written exam, remember to also show me your number plaque so I can record your time." He said as he took out a stopwatch. He stared at the stopwatch as he gave the signal for them to start. "Begin!"

Shen Tianyu looked down at her sheet of paper, there were only two questions but she was sure they weren't easy questions evern before reading them. Her most pressing problem, though, was how to write. Writing with cinnabar was like writting with crayons and they had no hard surface to assist them which would make it just the more difficult. She then thought of a brilliant idea and searched her lapels to find her number plaque. It was small but it was a hard surface, enough for her to write on. She pulled it out and slotted the plaque under the sheet of paper. She then read the first question with her stick of cinnabar at the ready.

"Where was the Silencing Talisman placed and what did it look like?"

Many of the applicants were already scratching their heads at the first question. Those that had sighed in relief at the miniscule number of questions were now looking like the world had ended. It wasn't a problem for Shen Tianyu though. She looked to her side to see Ningwu Liushan with a troubled and confused expression and Bai Longtian with knitted brows. She covered her mouth with her hands as she snickered to herself. She quickly wrote down the answer of the first thing she paid special attention to when she stepped into the Registration Hall and even drew the Talisman. It wasn't even a day, her memory wasn't so bad to forget what the Talisman looked like in such a short time. She had to continuously move her plaque behind the paper so she could actually write and draw, though, as it was only about the size of her palm. She then went on to look at the second question.

"What was the fountain?"

This question was probably easier to answer for the other kids as it was much more obvious than the Silencing Talisman. However, the applicants at the end might not have gotten a chance to see it, putting them at a disadvantage. She quickly answered this qiestion too. The fountain was a decoration for sure, but it also acted as the center for a protection array.

The fountain itself was at the center of the School and the array was made to cover the whole School to protect it and everyone in it if an emergency ever occurred. It was actually one of the strongest protection arrays, no one was able to get past it's barrier unless they were at Immortal Ascension Level or higher, which was to mean they couldn't break past it unless they were a god. At the same time, it didn't allow anyone inside it to leave, making it a double-edged sword if someone wanted to use it as an imprisonment mechanism. The only way to deactivate it was if the casters agreed to do so and released it at the same time. Yes, casters. Because the array was so powerful, naturally the requirements to cast it would be quite high. At present, the array is known to require at least five casters to stimultaneously launch the formation, injecting their spiritual energy into their assigned keystones at their location for it to launch. They must maintian a steady flow of spiritual energy to keep up the barrier. If any of them were killed or harmed, a new "guard" must be selected within the next stick of incense. And it wasn't just a matter of finding someone with vast amounts of spiritual energy either. Each keystone, like the mythical beasts, adhered to an element. If the person wasn't "compatible" with the element of the failing keystone, they were the same as useless no matter how much spiritual energy they had. The research on the "elements" of the formationwas still being investigated so the holders of the keystones were currently based on trial and error. As long as the person wasn't rejected by the keystone and had a decent amount of spiritual power, along with having a decent personality and morals, they could become the "guard" of the keystone. If they couldn't find a replacement "guard", the array formation would go wild. The best case scenario was if it just dissipates. The worst was it growing a mind of it's own and transforming into a dangerous formation, trapping the people it was supposed to protect and picking them off oone by one to maintain it's own existence, starting with the other initial casters.about 15 minutes
