Erza slowly walked through the large streets. She was taking her time, looking for an inn and a restaurant. Interestingly, she felt that the atmosphere in the city was rather tense as if some big event was about to happen soon.
She then walked into a restaurant where people bustled about their business and the sweet aroma of food wafted into her nose.
Smelling the unique fragrance of meat and vegetables, Erza could not help but stop and admire the smell for a brief moment before continuing in. While she was on her journey, Erza had spent many days with a simple meal and tea and had not been able to eat any delicacies that only a city restaurant could offer.
In addition, every place had their own unique taste which was one of the reasons why people loved travelling.
At the beckoning of a waitress, Erza sat at a table so she could have a meal to eat. There was a window located by the table.
Right now the day was already noon so the restaurant was full of people. A group of sturdy looking people sat near her and talked loudly over their meals.
"Do you know when this next beast wave will happen or how long it'll last?"
"The city lord made an announcement; the wave should occur within a few days time. But according to the last wave, this wave might last for over ten days."
The sounds of chatter reached Erza's ears; the interesting tidbits she heard caused her ears to vibrate in interest. In thought, Erza muttered to herself, "A wave of wild beasts, could it be that the beasts from the Desolate Beast Mountain Range are coming to besiege the city? If so, then it's no wonder that the atmosphere in the city is so tense."
Situated near the edge of Desolate Beast Mountain Range, Mirage was prone to beast waves. Even though beasts were welcomed in Black Snow Empire, they were limited to certain intellectual beasts, like the Dragons and Phoenixes.
Erza continued to eat her meal while listening to the noises around her. With each bite of food she made, she also digested the information she heard.
"Hey, look! Isn't that the Rage Mercenaries?"
One voice in particular stood out to Erza, and the moment the words registered in her head, Erza immediately froze in place as she was reaching out with her chopsticks to pick up a slice of meat.
Rage Mercenaries! If Erza did not remember wrongly and if things went just like what happened in the samsara world, Rage Mercenaries would later form a guild called Rage. And their future leader would be a vixen called Vanessa!
She was the reason behind Erza's misery in her first samsara life! She was the young concubine that Qi Long took! Of course, currently the girl was not born yet. She was the sole daughter of the first guild master of Rage.
Slowly raising her head, she looked out the door of the restaurant only to see a group of four armoured mercenaries with an impressive design walk into the building.
These four mercenaries had the same exact armour with an identical emblem imprinted on their armour. They walked to a table near Erza and sat down. After ordering a meal, the four began to talk quietly among themselves.
Following the entrance of the four Rage Mercenaries, the topics in the restaurant began to divert to be about the Rage Mercenaries.
"I've heard that the Rage Mercenary captain Edward made a breakthrough into the middle stage of King Realm a month ago. With a Mid King Realm expert, the Rage Mercenaries are surely much stronger than before. Right now within Mirage City, the Rage Mercenaries are nearly unparalleled in strength."
"That sounds about right. Ever since Edward made a breakthrough to the middle stage of King Realm, the strength of the entire group increased rapidly. Everyone within the restaurant began to look at the interaction between the four Rage Mercenaries and Erza. Putting down their bowls and chopsticks, everyone tried to pay close attention to what they were saying and started to prepare themselves just in case a fight would happen.
"Hmph," Erza snorted. There was a look of disdain on her face as she remained quiet. Instead, Melforce instantly appeared in her hand before stabbing the throat of one of the Rage Mercenaries.
Seeing the sword pierced their comrade's throat, the other three mercenaries were in shock for a brief moment before recovering themselves and crying out furiously.
"To dare go against us Rage Mercenaries, do you seek death?!" One roared as the other two members charged at Erza with their swords ready to slash the girl.
Erza pulled the black sword out from the dead mercenary with a smooth gesture before it flashed once more. Before their attacks reached her, Erza's sword arrived and cut through the throats of two of the mercenaries before stopping right in front of the neck of the final remaining mercenary.
As Melforce stopped briefly in front of his neck, the last mercenary quickly recalled his sword with an extremely pale face. He did not dare to bet his life against the seemingly 17-18 years old girl in front of him. His strength was at the middle stage of Knight Realm, but he was clearly not her match.
His eyes shook slightly as he turned his head to look at the two previously alive mercenaries by his side. His eyes could only see the small rivulet of blood pouring from their necks before their bodies fell to the ground.
At this, the final mercenary's courage broke as he felt panic in his heart. Hastily, he began to cry out for forgiveness, "Don't kill me, don't! Young Lady, if there's something you want to say, say it! Just don't kill me, I'll do anything you want me to!"
