Chapter 21: Presumptuous Attendant
Lu Feng was familiar with this demeaning look of disregard. Housekeeper Liu quickly raised his voice, “What are you guys looking at, have you never met the Young Master before?” Those attendants reluctantly called out, “Young Master.”
Lu Feng had a faint smile on his face. While Housekeeper Liu turned towards Lu Feng, “Young Master, what should do we do about them?” Lu Feng replied, “How about you come up with a punishment?” Housekeeper Liu affirmatively responded, “Just sack them.”
Those attendants were all shocked, they didn’t think he would be so harsh. They were quickly begging for mercy, since they knew Housekeeper Liu had the authority to dismiss them. Seeing this, Lu Feng wryly smiled, “Don’t worry, I have something to ask of them.”
Curious, Housekeeper Liu asked Lu Feng, “Young Master, what do you want to ask?” Lu Feng did not directly answer him as he turned to the attendants, “So speak up, why is this place in such a state?”
Those attendants reluctantly looked at each other and shut their mouths tightly. Housekeeper Liu flared up, “The Young Master asked you a question, you still dare to dally?” Those attendants all suddenly had a complete change in attitude, one of them even hastily said, “We think it was a robbery, when we came it was already like this.”
Housekeeper Liu was aghast, “What? A robbery? Who has the guts to steal our things?” They wore clueless expressions, while Lu Feng did not say anything. He was looked around before turning, “Housekeeper Liu, calculate the prices for these items and then deduct twice the amount from their wages.”
Everyone almost fell down when they heard this, the attendants turned red from anger. One of them shouted, “What is the meaning of this?” Lu Feng faced him with a predatory glint in his eyes, “What? Why did you stop calling me Young Master? So violent…”
That attendant angrily continued, “You have no reason to punish us, yet still give us trouble. Yet you still want me to politely call you Young Master?”
As the other attendants one by one expressed their anger, one attendant spoke up, “Let me tell you something, we are the Bai family’s attendants not your lackies for you to bully.” Lu Feng looked at their clamouring as he asked, “Are you all done?”
The attendants had already vented their anger, they wanted to see how Lu Feng would reply. Lu Feng turned to look at Shopkeeper Fang and Housekeeper Liu, “Everyone take a close look, these things are only messed up. There isn’t anything that is stolen.”
Shopkeeper Fang was a veteran, he knew what was missing or was too many, since they were in charge of the shop’s stock. That’s why he and Housekeeper Liu took a quick glance.
After they finished surveying the surroundings, Housekeeper Liu frowned, “There really is nothing missing.” Shopkeeper Fang also agreed. “Definitely, everything is just in chaos. Nothing was stolen.”
Those attendants were immediately unnerved, Lu Feng was smiling, “So gentlemen, didn’t you say a thief was here? Then tell me, what did he steal? And you still want to say you’re not guilty.”
The complexion of the attendants quickly changed, there were even people who shivered. There were some who shamelessly rebutted, “Maybe they didn’t come to steal but came to sabotage?” Lu Feng laughed, “Sabotage? Then why didn’t they set everything on fire instead.”
Seeing those attendants still want to pretend, Lu Feng smirked as he looked at Housekeeper Liu, “Housekeeper Liu, who was guarding this place?” Housekeeper Liu humbly replied, “You have to ask them or Elder Su. Elder Su would be the one who arranged it.”
The attendants did not know what Lu Feng’s intention was. Lu Feng continued, “Since you all said that someone else did it, who was on duty today? Don’t tell me that there wasn’t anyone on watch.”
One of the attendants shamelessly replied, “It was me.” Lu Feng smiled and asked, “What’s your name?” That attendant did not hesitate as he said, “Dou Shi.” Lu Feng slightly nodded his head, “Dou Shi, then tell me whether you saw who went to vandalise the place or what he looked like.”
Dou Shi did not know what had happened, he hesitated before saying,”I was sleeping.” Lu Feng sighed, “Then it’s your fault, pay back ten times the amount while the others can be let off.”
The rest all sighed in relief while Dou Shi’s complexion turned black, “Why is it me, I said I was sleeping.” Lu Feng laughed, “Since you were guarding, you should not have been asleep. Now that an incident has occurred, what else do you want to say?”
Duo Shi was speechless, how could he ever pay back such a large amount. He angrily glared at Lu Feng as Lu Feng just smiled, “Before you leave the Bai Family you have to pay up. If you run then our Bai Family has the power to pursue you.”
Duo Shi was still glaring at Lu Feng as he said, “Fine, I will pay!” Duo Shi drew a bag out, and before leaving he made a hmph sound, “The amount is ten gold taels, over here is a hundred. Fucking beggar!”
Having said this, Duo Shi threw it down and was intending to leave when Lu Feng suddenly said, “Seems like you think it’s finished.” Duo Sh, fuming, asked “What do you mean?” Lu Feng turned towards housekeeper Liu, “Housekeeper Liu please investigate how he obtained this hundred taels of gold. Find out which family is he colluding with.”
Housekeeper Liu wasn’t an idiot and immediately made an En sound and ordered the guards to arrest Duo Shi. Duo Shi cursed, “You fucking asshole.” Lu Feng also was not stupid, how could an ordinary attendant have that much money. For them to earn less than a single gold tael a year to suddenly take out one hundred gold taels. Even a retard would know something was up, so he sent Housekeeper Liu to interrogate him.
Duo Shi was quickly taken away, Lu Feng looked at everyone else and said, “Those who plan to stay in the Bai Family, must follow the rules. If you don’t want to obey then please leave now. I won’t force anyone.”

After everything was settled, Lu Feng decided to go back to the Bai family compound. When he returned, he found that he was quite hungry. After such a busy morning, he went to the kitchen to find food. After eating he then decided to go take a nap since he did not sleep well last night.
When he entered his wooden house and laid down on his bed to sleep. A while after he heard a clear voice, “You’re back.” Lu Feng quickly got up and looked towards where the voice was coming from. Turns out it was Bai Yue who was standing on the stairs staring at him with an indifferent expression. He thought Bai Yue was going to praise him but what came out of her mouth was shocking, “Are you trying to court death?”
Lu Feng was instantly bemused, “Court death? Why?”
