Chapter 223: I Will Marry Lu Qi’er

After speaking, Tang Mo’er fainted.

The villa in Bangkok.

Tang Mo’er was laid on the soft bed, her forehead drenched in sweat and she was scratching herself with her nails, leaving fresh welts of red in their wake. A gripping madness overwhelmed all of her senses and she rolled around the bed in agony.

A number of doctors were making their way in and out of the room, as Gu Mohan stood beside the bed with a menacing aura that made him appear like the king of the underworld. When a doctor shuffled close to him, he grabbed the doctor’s collar and growled, “What exactly happened to her?”

The doctor didn’t dare to look straight in Gu Mohan’s fierce eyes. “Mr Gu, the patient is… is poisoned.”

Gu Mohan let out a frustrated hiss as he glared the stammering man. “What poison?”

“Love pea.” Lu Yan was standing beside the door and spoke out.

Gu Mohan released the doctor and stalked over to the door. Like that, the two men stood equal and the atmosphere was tense and heavy.

“What’s this love pea?” Gu Mohan looked at Lu Yan.

“The most toxic poison in Long Er’s gang. Someone infected with the poison will feel as though insects are biting their entire body and they can’t help but scratch all over, until their skin ruptures and rots with both old and fresh blood. As the poison’s effects get worse, they will experience blindness and even hallucinations, eventually suffering a painful death.”

Gu Mohan’s veins were twitching, his deep eyes were narrowed into shards of broken steel. “Where is the antidote.”

“I have the antidote, but…”

“Ha,” Gu Mohan forced a cold laugh out of his throat. “Lu Yan, you’ve become more daring. Let me remind you that I’ve already gotten rid of Long Er and dirtied my hands. You’ve even reaped the benefits by taking over Long Er’s gang. Now that it’s my turn to ask for a favor, you’re standing here negotiating terms? Do you believe that I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you’re not going to gain any advantages, but instead, invite trouble?”

Lu Yan’s brown eyes crinkled into a smile as his eyebrows raised in a blatant challenge. “Of course I believe that you can do all of that. But President Gu, the antidote is in my hands. If I won’t give it to you, there is no way you will get it. See how your woman is still in pain? She can’t wait any longer.”

Gu Mohan’s muscular chest twitched, he then raised a corner of his lips as he lifted his eyes to meet Lu Yan’s gaze. “What’s the condition? I have to marry Lu Qi’er?”

Lu Yan laughed. “President Gu, you’re truly a smart one.”

Gu Mohan’s handsome facial features revealed a smile that did not reach his eyes. “Alright, I will marry Lu Qi’er.”

“Oh?” Lu Yan raised his brow.

“But the marriage between the Gu and Lu families is a huge affair. How about this, three days later, we’ll have the engagement first and then slowly prepare for the wedding.”

“Sure, I’ll give you half of the antidote after the engagement. After my sister becomes Mrs Gu, I’ll give President Gu the other half. But… How long can Tang Mo’er afford to wait?”

Taking two steps forward, Gu Mohan leaned in and whispered in Lu Yan’s ear, “When your sister truly becomes Mrs Gu, she won’t be able to back out. Master Yan, you don’t seem to be afraid, even when playing such a dangerous game.”

“The more dangerous the game, the more enthralling I find it.”

Gu Mohan placed one hand in his pocket and turned back to look at An’an. “An’an, it’s time for you to come home.”

An’an wore a white dress and stood quietly in the corner as she looked at Gu Mohan. Almost immediately after, her gaze fell on Lu Yan, and she shook her head.

She was not willing to go home.

After all these years, she had spent almost her entire life by Lu Yan’s side.

Gu Mohan pursed his lips and didn’t say anything more. Turning around towards the bedroom, he made a dismissive gesture. “See the guests out.”

In the room.

The doctors and nurses were chased out of the room. Tang Mo’er rolled around in the bed and she ripped her clothes off, wanting to scratch the itch away. She wanted to do something, anything, to relieve the mind-numbing itch that wracked her entire body.

One corner of the bed sunk down a little.

It was him.

In the depths of the madness she found herself in, her hands were held by him and he pressed them on the top of her head, his gentle lips were warm against her cheek. His deep voice sounded apologetic and heart-wrenching. “Be good, Mo’er. Don’t scratch yourself.”
