“So many…..?” Fortunately, except for the east gate, which was a motorized retractable gate, the few other gates were all tall barred gates.

By the time Zhang Zhongmin arrived, he was also startled by the piles of zombies at the door, which were at least a few hundred in number.

“Squad leader, we see a lot of zombies this side of the south gate, piled up near the gate, they are just too many and it’s still growing, we can’t get down to it. And it looks like it won’t take long for this barred gate to be pushed down any longer.”

“Squad leader, the situation on this side of the west gate is similar.”

“What about East Gate?” If there were more zombies, the East Gate would be the most grim place.

“Squad leader, no zombies in sight on this side of the east gate.” Liu said, “We’re coming over there for support.”

“No, you guys stay. Let us know as soon as something happens.” right now there were no zombies over there  but when zombies come over there, it will be the easiest place to break through.

    “Yes!”

By this time, Fu Cao walked slowly with the oil drum.

Zhang Zhongmin felt as if he was at his wits end and was ready to tear his hair out. He had no idea on what to do with this horrid horde of zombies. The only best way he could think of was for someone to go out and lure the zombies away.

But in that case, peering at the zombies who looked as if they were squashed in like sardines, those who go out would most likely not be able to return.

Zhang Zhongmin’s mouth was dry, his brain full of static, firing millions of unhelpful thoughts offering nothing at all. His eyes were red with anxiety, and as soon as he turned his head, he saw Fu Cao who was slowly walked over: “What are you doing? Didn’t I tell you to go hide in the dorm? Why are you here? Still think it’s not messy enough here, do you!?”

He was also fuming, and shouted furiously at Fu Cao, his head in his hands as he rubbed his temples with his palm.

Fu Cao blinked, “Fire can burn the zombies to death, there are still a few buckets of oil left in the kitchen, why not  take them out to light a fire and burn these zombies to death?”

Saying that, she set the oil drum on the floor: “I don’t have a lighter.”

“…….” Zhang Zhongmin was instantly at a loss for words, the girl in front of him was petite and weak. Who looked like she was fresh out of college, how does she know so much about zombies? But after thinking of Chen Yingying, who also seemed as if she knew a lot, do young people nowadays like to read novels? That’s why they know that from novels?

“I’ll go now.” Fu Cao delivered the oil, turned around and headed out. She had no plans to help them further, she left without looking back.

Her words of help were just telling them a way. She didn’t really want to be involved in the so-called  intimacy with humans, alone was fine.

Her death in her previous life was due to the exposure of her identity. She was not stupid enough to eat dirt again, its better to keep one’s identity out. She was about to distance herself from the humans, and preferably never dug into the crystalline nucleus of the zombie’s brain herself.

So, the best approach was to trade and  keep your distance at the same time. She will use humans to help her dig up crystal nuclei.

Zhang Zhongmin gritted his teeth and greeted the head of the security team and another man as they poured oil over on the zombies outside the barred gate.

These zombies were still unconscious and had no clue of what it was, they didn’t even know how to dodge. They squeezed hard into the iron rods, red eyes staring deadly at the people inside.

    “GRR-“

    “Ho-“

Their roar was exhibiting their longing for meat. Previously, Fu Cao had deliberately withdrawn her spirit power that oozed out when she came over, so the group of zombies did not change much because of her arrival.

When Fu Cao returned from her original path, she saw a man in camouflage clothes hurrying back to carry the oil drum. She hummed. It seemed that Zhang Zhongmin had informed them and acted on what she said.

Walking to the school ground, Fu Cao looked at the unconscious boy.

The boys wore a loose t-shirt with a very loose neckline, revealing a delicate collarbone. His adam’s apple rolled slightly, a little sexy.

   She looked at his face.

He would have been the school’s biggest hit, if not for the apocalypse. A pair of clean, sharp sword brows, and closed eyes with thick, dense lashes.

His furrowed his brows, the whole man was writhing uneasily as unceasingly startled sounds emitted out from his throats.

Fu Cao reached out her hand and touched his thick eyelashes, almost like a small fan yet still so comfortable to touch.

She couldn’t resist running her hand over it, curiously stroking her own eyelashes, which were far from his length.

“Kill me…….” the boy said through gritted teeth, “Kill me, I don’t want to turn into a zombie, I don’t want to turn into a man-eating monster, kill me!”

    “RRR-“

A hiss that was no different from a zombie’s, reverberted out his throat and he looked at Fu Cao with an apathetic look, struggling to restrain himself, the green veins on his forehead constantly throbbing.

“You haven’t turned into a zombie yet.” Fu Cao blinked and looked at the boy strangely. It was also the first time she’d ever seen someone who was just one breath away from turning into an undead, a zombie..

A moment of strange silence followed.

The boy’s face was ghastly and painful: “Kill me.”

He seemed to be less conscious as time passed by quickly, constantly chanting ‘kill me, kill me’. His crimson pupils unfurled, making him look less human.

“Kill you? Then you’ll be dead. Just don’t lose your consciousness if you don’t want to become a zombie.” Fu Cao sat on the side with rare kindness and looked at him leisurely.

“I know you can still hear me, trust me. After losing consciousness, you become a presence you hate. As long as you hang in there and get through it, you’ll be fine.”

In fact, Fu Cao did not know if these words could be trusted or not, but in her previous life, she once heard a human say it, turning into a psychic or turning into a zombie, it could all be done at one’s own whim.

But it was just that many couldn’t make it through. It was only later, after everyone knew about this being the case, more people by sheer willpower and resolve became psychics.

“Hang in there, hang in there -” perhaps because of Fu Cao’s words, holding onto a glimmer of hope, he wasn’t chanting about killing me, but hanging in there.

Fu Cao was eager to see if this boy could make it through. She didn’t leave, but instead sat on the side and waited patiently.

With the exception of the East Gate, the other three gates in seconds were consumed by roaring flames, black wisp of smoke curled upwards, filling the air with acrid fumes that stung one’s eye.

Fu Cao frowned. She hated this unpleasant smell.

She looked at the boy, whose lips were puffed out, already dry and cracked. His mouth was mumbling something one after the other, in a voice that no longer was audible. Fu Cao herself was clueless and didn’t know if he could make it through.

Regarding his good-looks, Fu Cao was again moved with compassion because of his specialness. She reached out and placed a finger between his lips; a clear stream of water sliding into his throat.

The boy, who was about to lose consciousness, gulped frantically at the water around his mouth.

It took a while before Fu Cao withdrew her hand.

After Fu Cao retracted her hand, the boy slowly opened his eyes, there was still  a hint of blood in his eyes that did not completely recede but he looked sober enough.

“Thanks…” the boy opened his mouth, his voice hoarse.

“If you want to thank me, wait until you get through it.” Fu Cao showed a smile, and the deep indentations near the corners of her mouth were very cute.

The boy said with a firm gaze, “I’ll get through this.”

Fu Cao’s cold hand rested on his forehead: ”The fever hasn’t gone down yet, you’ll be fine at least until after it does. It’s been too long, so if you make it through, meet me at the exclusive hotel by the east gate.”

Say Fu Yao turned around and left.

A glint of gloom crossed the boy’s eyes. She would be waiting for him on the sidelines he thought, feeling a little better.

“My name is Lu Xuan!” The boys shouted in quick succession.

“Tell me your name when you come to me.” If you don’t make it through, she will turn a deaf ear. It won’t help even if she knew.

Lu Xuan clenched his fists tightly, and a blur of pain shot through his eyes, as if his brain was being eroded by something from the inside out. He took a few deep breaths.

He neither touched the running water, nor did he get scratched by the zombies. Why was he still  infected? In a daze, he suddenly thought, air.

There’s also a source of infection in the air?

Lu Xuan really hit the spot, there actually were sources of infection in the air. But airborne infections were so minor that the average person was no longer susceptible to them.

By this time of night the weather was getting colder. If you don’t pay attention there was a high chance that you will catch a cold, and because of the cold, you might even be an easier target of infection.

In addition to the mournful hissing of the zombies coming from several gates except the East Gate, it was easy to deduce that even though they were not tired or in pain, they were still afraid of fire.

The miserable sounds of the fire-burning corpses had dazed all those who had come. They were afraid to move a single step forward. All were just terrorised of the fire.

They subconsciously knew that fire without a doubt can destroy them, which is why they were very afraid of fire.

After a few doors down, perhaps frightened and perhaps tired. He slid onto the ground with a sweaty head, looking at the roaring fire, and smiled at once.

See, zombies weren’t that scary. No matter how scary or dangerous, there were ways to destroy them!

Fu Cao returned to the exclusive hotel. She laid in bed and took out her phone to play a small game of single player. When done playing, she took the pork out and cut it up and ate it gracefully.

She wished the boy could pull through and when he did, let her help with the crystalline nucleus core. Today, she saw a lot of zombies piled up at the entrance of the school, although they were first-order zombies, their nucleus of a first-order zombie can also be used as a snack.

    It was better than nothing.

Fu Cao narrowed her eyes with a sly grin, the boy’s will power was strong. It was only when he found out that he had been infected with a disillusioned heart that he slowly turned into a corpse. With her reminder, he could resist with all his will power. This was a fortunate stroke of serendipity.

Nine times out of ten, they don’t turn into zombies.

Fu Cao caustically ate the pork bite by bite, while eating and playing the game, the thought of many, many nuclei in the future, made her a lot happier.

At the thought of the crystal nucleus, Fu Cao had a bit of a craving. She might be able to taste a lot by eating crystalline core, unlike pork that could only fill her stomach.

After eating, Fu Jiayi thought about the many zombies that had gone to the north gate before, it seems that there were already many people who had turned into zombies. She quietly gathered her things and waited till dark to go out.

She can’t just directly ignore her space now, can she? It still needed a lot of gold to feed.

Going out in broad daylight was too eye-catching, so Fu Cao decided to set off while it was dark. When passing by the jewelry store it was best to first use mental power to detect if there could be anyone inside.

If there was anyone inside she would look for another option, she won’t make her way inside but if there was no one, she would ‘modestly’ go in to scavenge for gold and toss them inside space.

Outside the school, fire continued to burn and dance in the night. Those who stood at guard to keep an eye on the gates were too afraid to leave, they continued to stare wild-eyed as the iron gates were deformed by the savage heat. They felt like they also had a hot coal placed in their chest which burned together with flame outside.

During all this time, no one hiding in the dormitory dared to come out, even when hungry. They dreaded taking a step outside.

Whilst, Lu Xuan, who was tied to the playground, slowly opened his eyes.

His pupils had regained their normal color, but if one looked closely, they were vaguely tinged with an imperceptible gold color.
