The contestants could chose either an arrow or a spear based on their choice. Samyukta took bow and arrows. She stringed her bow tight, put her arrow and took the aim. Her technique was flawless. She stretched her arms, took a deep breath, looked at the 100mt target, took aim and 'twang' once again it was a perfect shot. Then she took out another arrow, adjusted her mental state and stabilised herself by taking a deep breath. She took little longer to take aim. She held her breath and then released the arrow. It was a hattrick. She succeeded in hitting right in the bull's eye.
Next Prince Deepak repeated the feat. He too hit all the three targets with perfection. He used a spear which was much difficult to control compared to an arrow. The trajectory, distance and angle of the release of spear should be well calculated and balanced. Only then one could gain proficiency in spear arts.
Prince Surya chose a bow and arrow. He could hit bull's eye for first two targets set but couldn't hit the third target, he lost by a hair's distance. But nevertheless, everyone witnessing the contest were marvelling the efficiency of the Royal siblings. Many royal sons who came to contend as suitors to Samyukta were not the brightest in their dynasties. Since they need to marry into the Chandra dynasty leaving their family name, and become the prince consort, naturally the first choice to ascend the heights of those dynasties were not sent.
