That lady walked towards that centre and I followed her. Not a single person standing spoke anything and made way for her so she could walk straight. Were they all demons? Why were so many demons appearing all at once? I was in the mess that Black so wanted to avoid...

My heart thumped with every step I took forward and that lying man's features began to clear. I had a very bad feeling about it.

At first, I could only manage to see that that person was taller than average. Then I could make out his long white hair and it was enough for me to know that that person was my Black! Even though that person's face was on the other side, I knew it was my Black.

Black was lying on the ground on his stomach. His arms and legs were spread and long and thick nails were embedded on his limbs and stomach, fixing him on the ground. The white sweater he was wearing had been stained with so much blood that it appeared red instead. Black wasn't moving at all.

What was going on? Wasn't he the strongest? Or was that a lie? Did they trick him? A million questions appeared in my mind as I stood a few meters away from him.

"Why did you bring a human here Asmodeus?" I heard someone's voice coming from my left but my gaze stayed fixed on Black.

"She smells like she had been in contact with an angel. I would like to play with her later,"

"Black!" I shouted and called out to him without caring about those thousands of people. Even though Black had once told me that should I meet a demon, I have to pretend that I don't know him. But how could I? I wanted to hear his voice. I needed to make sure he was alright. Or I might really die of anxiousness.

I jerked my arm to break free from that lady's grasp. I did somehow manage to startle her and free myself. I ran to my Black as fast as I could.

"What the?"

"This girl knows the one winged devil?"

I heard sounds coming from behind but I did not care about them. I sat down on the ground on my knees, near his head and called out to him again, hoping he would hear me. From so close, I could see his face, covered in dirt on the side and blood spewing out from the corner of his lips. His hair was scattered here and there and was covering his face.

He opened his eyes and slowly raised his head to look right into my eyes.

"Wifey. What... Are... You... Doing... Here...?" Black had trouble speaking properly. My heart ached when I saw his pretty face swollen and those lips dyed in blood for real. I so wanted to help him somehow but I didn't know how to.

Before I could reply anything or do anything, I heard the demons surrounding him whisper among each other.

"The wife of the monster?" A demon standing exactly opposite to me said and walked forward towards me. He was wearing a white coat and from the looks of it, he appeared to be their boss or something.

"Why did you do this to him?" I shouted as hard as I can and my throat ached from that shout. Even though I knew that he and demons were enemies but doing something like immobilizing using nails was too cruel.

"I never expected that the monster was into humans." Someone from my right spoke. That person was too bulky.

"Let us go. I swear he won't trouble anyone again,

" I pleaded despite knowing my plea wouldn't be heard by these savages. I didn't know anything else I could do at that moment. They all just laughed at my plea.

"Little doll, your dear husband has killed many of our brothers. If you want you can face the punishment in his place." Another demon spoke in a lewd tone from behind. They all had started to corner me from every direction. I felt the despair surrounding me.

Another one walked ahead from my left and his shadow fell on me. I turned my head only to look at his hideous face. "Yeah. We will take her right in..." But he didn't get to finish his sentence. He stopped all of a sudden as if he was turned into a statue.

"Amon!" I heard Black's voice that was full of wrath.

I saw a hand that had a nail hammered in it coming from that demon's right and push on his head but that demon didn't respond. Next moment, the demon's head slipped off his body and rolled off to my right side. I saw Black standing behind that headless demon and he was looking at me. His eyes were different this time. Even though his face was still in tatters but his green eyes were open and they shone with brilliance.

I only saw Black's left hand move a little and that headless corpse split into two from a horizontal cut. The two halves of that demon fell down on either side on the ground. A silver flame appeared out of nowhere on the clean split cut and slowly engulfed the corpse.

Black turned around and his sweater disappeared. In front of me was his bleeding body. He picked on the nails that were still embedded on his body and threw them on the ground, one by one. No one stopped him. I saw the wound on his body glowing with white light and heal at a pace visible to my eyes. He equipped on his black coat. My sight involuntary fell on the burning silver flames that had engulfed the corpse. Not even the ashes of that demon remained. Such a horrible death made chill travel down my spine.

"The demons of hell... I wanted to let you vent previous hatred and be done with it. But you dare lay your filthy hands on my wife! You have committed the sin! I, the son of Eden, sentence you all to death," Black spoke. His voice was so deep. I could feel that anger in his every word. A long sword appeared out of nowhere in his left hand.

A large wing came out of his back and spread afar to its glory. The next moment Black disappeared from my sight.

I heard a painful cry coming from the back and when I turned my head, I saw another demon had been stabbed by black in the heart. That was instant death.

"Kill him!" That demon dressed in silver commanded in a loud voice.

The horde of thousands of demons unfolded their wings and moved towards us in a frenzy to attack my Black on hearing the order of the silver demon. Some demons changed their appearance too. Some transformed their hand into sharp claws. Some grew curved horns on their head. Some breathed out the fire out of their mouth. And others used various weapons like magical bows, spears, daggers and swords. Only the faint light of the moon illuminated the battlefield.

But Black was moving too fast while circling around me. He swung his long sword around as he stabbed, slashed, cut through the fire, parried the weapons and pierced the rest. That sword appeared to be a scythe that reaped the lives of demons. Though I couldn't see him when he moved, I knew how Black was moving because wherever he went to, a body fell and silver flames engulfed that body.

I silently stared upon the war. Not a single one of them could sneak near me. At that moment, I realized how true the title of the strongest angel was. I understood why he was given such titles.

I don't know how much time had passed when someone screamed the order of retreat. And those demons stopped flooding over. I was glad that it was going to end. I didn't want to see any more of this.

"Come as you wish. Leave as you wish. How can life be so easy? Stay with me for a while," Black spoke in a normal way but his voice was as deep as before. At that moment, I realized something wasn't alright. He had no intention of letting them go.

Black stood straight and raised his right hand up in the air. The sword in his left hand was pointed down and blood dripped from it. The metallic blade shone under the moonlight in a silver tinge. Even this much blood couldn't stain that sword.

"The Barrier of Arcana!" Black howled and something shot out from his right hand towards the sky. Something like an explosion from crackers happened above his head. A glowing barrier, shaped like a huge dome, started to form from that explosion and covered the surroundings of a few hundred meters. The demons tried to force their way out but they couldn't break it. Aside a few, everyone else was entrapped inside.

"Spread out and survive. He can't keep this barrier for long." That demon in silver let out another command.

Black started his frenzied assault on the demons again. I didn't get why he insisted on fighting them to death. Even though he did not receive any fatal strike, my Black did receive some minor injuries while fighting them.

"Black... Stop," I shouted so that Black would hear and cease his brawl. But he didn't listen to me. He didn't even flinch.

"Black. It is enough. You don't have to do this anymore," I shouted again my best but he continued on as if my words didn't reach his ears. It was as if his mind has gone blank and there was nothing in his heart but unquenchable wrath. Black had told me that he doesn't like fighting and he only retaliates if someone comes to him. But this Black in front of me was like taken over by someone else instead.

"Stop this madness idiot. You're scaring me out," I tried again to no avail. He had really snapped out of it.

I felt an ominous presence behind me. At that moment, Black looked towards me again. The ominous presence disappeared the next moment and Black continued on.

His eyes. They weren't the eyes of my Black. Even when he looked towards me, his eyes weren't kind or gentle. They were indifferent, cruel, vicious... murderous. Those eyes frightened me...

I wanted him to stop. I didn't want this scary Black. I wanted that gentle Black back to me who was as innocent as a child. Looking into whose eyes would make me swoon instead of frightened. I felt like I didn't even know this person in front of me.

"Are you really a monster?" I had only whispered but I realized what I had said when the momentary silence echoed those words back in my ears. I didn't mean to say that. Black, somehow hearing my whispers, did stop but it was too late... For both of us.

Black looked at me and in front of me was a sight I'll never forget. That scariness had disappeared but his face had turned emotionless and cold. His black long coat, stained in blood, fluttered along with the wind. In his hand was his sword that was getting plunged into the heart of a demon beneath him due to the previous momentum.

Black left his sword inside the body of that demon and slowly walked towards me. That dome-shaped barrier he had made burst open like a glass. Behind him, I saw that other demons were running here and there in a chaotic mess. But he didn't care about them anymore.

'I'm sorry. I didn't mean it.' That was what I wanted to tell him but words refused to come out of my mouth. There was this lump in my throat. I could just sit there and swallow nothingness. He bent his knees so that he could reach my ears.

"Do you remember, honey," Black whispered but his words were as emotionless as his face, "I told you I'm a monster."

Even though he didn't stutter, I could feel he was sobbing inside. "And that's why I don't deserve you. I never did."

"Be a good girl and go to sleep now," Black said and I could feel myself getting dizzy. I so wanted to hold on to my consciousness but it started fading away. My eyelids became heavy all of a sudden and I couldn't keep my eyes open.

The last thing I remembered was that Black had stood up and turned back. His wing spread itself again. I reached out for him, trying to stop him with my powerless hand but he was too far. He jumped and flew away from where he came from. He disappeared among the clouds...
