I stood there dumbfounded. There are what? And they what?
I suddenly blurted aloud "Ah what?"
The two males in the room turned their heads to look at me. I only creased my brows and stared at the floor beneath me, deep in thought.
I knew it! Meeting up with the devil in a crowded place is suicide! Unfortunately, I don't have any other choice. After all the devil have a pretty good hostage, which is my dignity.
I rather face the angry mass of immature bees than have them trample me with their victorious laughter. Neo still has a picture of me in my wet pants and that is his trump card.
I still can make an excuse and make everyone believe that me being here is only a one time big time kind of thing. That is the main reason why I don't want Neo to publicize us being a couple (fake couple). Rumors will die naturally as long as we don't meet like this next time. Thinking of a possible next time is already giving me a migraine.
His cousin and Ms. A will surely not suspect a thing since we are not a showy couple. I did say that we've broken up 5 times already and they didn't know about it happening at all. Well, it didn't really happen but they don't know that.
I just want him to arrange someone to leave small gifts on my desk or at home; so that when Neo's cousin spreads the news about Neo and me being a couple to the Gu and Tan family I will have a good explanation to tell. Something like falling in love with a romantic handsome man. (-.-)
This will only last for a year anyway, so saying that marriage should be discussed at a later date will do. We can say that we are still young and don't want the public to know about our relationship will save us some unwanted scandals when we 'break up' after a year.
The problem now is how I will explain things to Vincent. If he didn't show up today, I could have time to make an excuse as to why I am meeting up with Neo but after what he witnessed earlier it will be hard to convince him that nothing is wrong.
"Don't worry." Vincent uttered this two words with sincerity. I slowly lifted my head up to look at him. His face gentle and warm, no fragment left from the cold and dangerous boy earlier.
"I already made up an excuse as to why you are here." he added with a soft smile on his lips.
My heart suddenly palpitated. It's happening again, am I sick? Why does this happen every time he smile at me like that? I'm supposed to be immune with his charms.
I stared at him intently, he only winked at me and continued "I said that Mr. Yuan have an important matter to discuss with you and me but unfortunately I can't make it in time because I was in a meeting with the student council. So you ended up coming here alone." he calmly said.
He then moved his gaze towards Neo and said "If I recall correctly, the Yuan family will be hosting a charity ball next month. Am I correct Mr. Yuan?"
"En." Neo slightly nodded his head, not saying another word.
Vincent then reached into his coat's inner pocket and produced 2 red envelopes. I can clearly see the Yuan family's seal embedded on the envelopes. I furrowed my brows, how did Vincent get those? It even have our names printed elegantly on the papers smooth surface.
Every year the Yuan family host a charity ball, invitations are usually sent a month before the event. The Gu and Tan family are of course invited but the invitation is usually addressed to the head of the house. Other family members can come along as long as the family head approve of it.
I don't usually attend such events, first because I'm lazy and second because I am only an adoptive daughter in everyone's eyes.
So how could Vincent get those invitations?? He being invited is not a problem but me being invited to personally attend the banquet is weird.
"I see, second young master Gu is indeed crafty. Alright we will stick to your plans." Neo said with an indifferent tone.
My body stiffened when I heard him add "It's also good to meet the family." He said it in a nonchalant way like it's only a passing comment, nothing extraordinary.
