The main focus of this arc would be on how Hong Ruolan had to overcome the hurdles that came with seeking love and happiness with a person that she idolized in her heart. Hong Lian kept a dark secret that he feared would threaten the bond he had with the person that many saw as his sister. Hong Lian facade of coolness fell into place when he saw his sister skip into the room where he was, little Roulan of six years went to sit by her brother by the piano, watching as his fingers ran across the white and black keyboards. A moment later, the little girl joined her brother in playing with the piano, despite not knowing a thing about music nor the piano. The little girl wore frilly white dress and her hair was held in a ponytail by a white ribbon, the boy who sat by her was dressed in a yellow shirt and white pant. They both wore an indoor slip on of mint.
"What are we playing?"
"A light symphony RuRu."
"Sym..sy..pi?"
"No RuRu, it is called S-Y-M-H-O-N-Y!"
"Okay and is mama going to play with us?"
"If you are good then she would join us."
"Okay! I promise to do what brother Lian says."
The siblings looked happy together enjoying the sound that came from pounding at the keyboard, but it all came to an end when they heard the voice of their mother, Madam Hong.
"What are you both doing at the piano?!"
Madam Hong yelled at the two who looked as though they were caught dipping their hands into something they shouldn't. Hong Lian flew from the padded stool by the piano and went to stand in front of her with his head lowered.
"Good afternoon mother."
Hong Lian curtsied to greet the woman who he had to refer to as his mother, despite what he heard at the hospital six years ago.
"You should know better than fooling around with the piano!"
Madam Hong just came in from her room upstairs as a result of the noise she heard from the sound coming directly from below where she took her afternoon nap. She was dressed casually in a comfortable dress of blue and diamond earrings that went with her attire, on both feet was an indoor slip on of white, a sparkling diamond necklace rested across her neck. There was nothing pleasant in the look on her face, while looking at her teenage son and little daughter.
"Have you done the assignment that they gave you from school?"
"No mother, but I was going to do them before going to bed."
"Really?! So what if you forget and I or your father receive a call from the school that you didn't turn them in?"
Hong Lian kept looking down right from the moment Madam Hong began to chastise him.
"I will go and get them done."
"Why are you still sitting there? Come here Ruolan!"
The little girl jumped from where she sat with fear reflected in her eyes, while she went to meet her mother, as the two left in the direction of the garden.
"One day, I will show you that I am not someone that you can step on!"
The teenage boy vowed in his heart to take over everything and stand above the ones that belittled him at every turn.
