If the ground had opened, Sheng Liena was willing to jump right in when she saw who just walked in on her date from hell. It was none other than Hong Yongrui!
"Why did it have to be him of all people?"
Sheng Liena's face reddened from the shame she felt from being caught by a person she would never have wanted to be seen by, who surprisingly stood up for her when no one at the restaurant did, in as much as she wanted to jump for joy by the chivalry shown by Hong Yongrui. The little pride she had left made it difficult for her to give in to her impulses.
Sheng Liena called out in surprise at the man that belittled her during the Hong family dinner that her father had practically force her to attend. Although she felt elated that he lied to her date in order to save what was left of her dignity, but a part of her was still bitter about the Hong family dinner.
"Hong Yongrui?!"
It was then that her date, Pan Xiaoting increased the pressure on the hand that held her arm. He did so as if to punish her for ignoring him and looking at the man that just walked into their table of fight.
"Did you hear me?! I said, take your hands off my girlfriend before I call the police on you!"
Hong Yongrui's voice sounded menacing as he faced the other man, facing him head on with eyes that held a look that was filled with disdain.
Pan Xiaoting flinched as though Hong Yongrui had slapped him, "Is..Is...she really...your girlfriend?!"
"Do you really want to find out the hard way?!"
"You're just bluffing! If she was truly your girlfriend then why did she show up as my blind date?! Unless..."
Pan Xiaoting's eyes held a meaningful look in them as though suggesting that Hong Yongrui was not man enough for Sheng Liena to have left him to hang out with a total stranger.
"What an a$$!"
Unable to hold back the contempt she held for the man, Sheng Liena struggled to free herself as she spat the words that drummed in her head at him.
Hong Yongrui could no longer watch as the other man was holding onto the arm of Sheng Liena, he reached for his phone as though to dial a number from it.
"I'm done! I'm calling the police!"
When Pan Xiaoting saw that the other man was dead serious about getting the police involved, that was when he decided to change his approach towards him. He looked like a deflated balloon after all the confidence had been sucked out of him.
"Brother, I'm not trying to make any trouble. I will leave, just don't call the police."
No longer able to throw his weight around, he resorted to begging Hong Yongrui, who paused from making the call, as the other man released Sheng Liena and hastily made his exit out of the restaurant, leaving the two to face the aftermath.
