During the court hearing before the verdict was given on the Zhang heiress case. Judge Pan Tingzhe was a man that had powerful people behind him. His presence during the trial was to present himself in a way such that, the lawyer serving the Zhang heiress will not notice on time that he was not there to be a fair Judge nor pass the "right" judgement on the case, instead his purpose was to distract them from using the key witness "Yang Lin" to support their claim that Zhang Mi was innocent. Had the Judge not sent out Yang Lin who was willing to testify with the help of the lawyer he hired, then the Zhang heiress would have walked out a free woman.

Tao Jun, would have taken a hard stand and fought ruthlessly in court for Zhang Mi. Judge Pan Tingzhe already knew of the type of lawyer Yang Lin had with him, which was why he made a show of sending them out by claiming they would be a distraction in court, since Zhang Mi had already refused help from Yang Lin and his Lawyer twice.

This was what President Qi meant by something "interesting" to Zhang Tianyu, the Judge was his gift to the President of Zhang Corporation. His purpose was to serve Zhang Tianyu well in court by making sure that the Zhang heiress will not only remain in prison, but also have additional number of years added to her sentence. Judge Pan Tingzhe gave the five years to appear as being fair in his sentencing, because the maximum number of years she could have gotten for embezzling money from her company would have been twenty years, but this way he would draw the attention of both the prosecutor and defense lawyer from questioning the sentence he passed too closely. It didn't matter if it was a first or second time offense.

Prosecutor Yu was carried away by the number of years given to Zhang Mi for assault in court and stealing of company money, he thought the Judge gave the most appropriate judgement for the Zhang heiress. The witnesses that Ding Bohai searched for among the employees of Zhang Corporation, to testify that she kept to a set routine when it was time to leave the office and arrive at the office, but none of them showed up to serve as witnesses in court. Had they shown up, the possibility of Zhang Mi winning the case will have been very high. Unfortunately for the defense team, if Ding Bohai had gone to the Zhang villa to speak to the staff there, he would have gotten someone that will have made it possible for Zhang Mi to come out of jail. Sadly, he placed his bet on her former employees, rather than seeking out the people that worked at her home, probably fearing that Yang Lin will prevent them from speaking out the truth.

The two years for assault sentence was because Judge Pan Tingzhe heard of what she did in Judge Yao's courtroom, seeing her to do something similar in his own courtroom, made him punish Zhang Mi in place of Judge Yao, that is since Judge Yao did no punish her when she misbehaved then he would carry out both punishment on her.

Tao Jun would have fought to make the court aware of this, because she knew a lot about the way Judge Tungzhe worked and therefore would have handled him very well, by pointing this out to the whole court, which will leave Judge Pan Tingzhe with no other choice but to give Zhang Mi at the very most, six months of community service.

Truth be told, the Zhang heiress would have walked out with nothing short of six months community service as a free woman that day in court, this would have marked the beginning of her return to society and a start at a normal life once again. Judge Tingzhe already foresaw a fight between Zhang Mi and Zhang Tianyu, why else would he allow her to meet with her uncle unaccompanied by at least a guard, despite having previous knowledge of their past?

They were all blinded by the craftiness of Judge Tingzhe, every single one of them, with the exception of Yang Lin and Tao Jun who knew what his real intention was in regards to the Zhang Heiress trial.

From the beginning to the end, it was all an act to fulfill what he had been commissioned to do, no more, no less. Even if it meant people getting hurt, all that mattered to Judge Tingzhe was, not losing the powerful connections that he had and his position.
