Ninth Imperial Uncle Got Injured
Jing Yue found people in the palace seemingly all gone when she went back home. She looked around the Mansion where all lights were on, which aroused her confusion. As she arrived at the Lotus Garden and found nobody there as well, she felt more puzzled.
“Yin Qiao…Yin Qiao!” Jing Yue called loudly.
“Your Highness, you come back finally!” Yin Qiao hurried out of the Lotus Garden. She almost burst into tears the moment she saw Jing Yue.
“What happened? Why are you crying?” asked Jing Yue, staring at Yin Qiao with her eyebrows frowned.
“Your Highness…Ninth Imperial Uncle got injured.” Yin Qiao looked at Jing Yue and answered, her eyes brimming with tears.
“What?!” Jing Yue was shocked and felt a sting in her heart. She asked for the whereabouts of Xiao Chen at once and hurried to the living house of Lotus Garden after knowing that Xiao Chen was lying there now. When she arrived, she found all other people were gathering in the courtyard. Xing Yi and Xing Er looked weird when they saw Jing Yue come back. They bowed to Jing Yue slightly.
“What happened to Ninth Imperial Uncle?” Jing Yue asked, looking at the closed door behind which Xiao Chen was healing himself.
“His Highness got injured on the way when looking for you. His Highness was now treated inside.” Xing Yi stared at Jing Yue with his lips pressing tightly together and answered stiffly. Jing Yue could clearly feel Xing Yi’s dissatisfaction to her.
“How is Xiao Chen?” Jing Yue took a deep breath and continued to ask.
“The wound is not severe enough to kill His Highness.” Xing Yi was probably too angry to respect Jing Yue. His tone made Jing Yue somehow fell so awkward that she lowered her head. As she was going to ask for more information, the door was opened. The doctor came out and gave details about Xiao Chen’s injury, depending on which Jing Yue got to know that Xiao Chen was actually injured by a sword and now the wound had been treated well.
Hearing Xiao Chen not injured seriously, Jing Yue sighed with relief and wanted to go inside to see Xiao Chen. However, her way was blocked By Xing Yi.
“Your Highness, the doctor said His Highness needs to rest well, so you’d better not disturb His Highness and take a rest in the side room.” Xing Yi said with his mouth slightly pursed and then bowed to Jing Yue, as if Jing Yue was not welcome here. After a while of pause, Jing Yue looked down at her feet and chose to step back. As Yin Qiao was enraged by Xing Yi’s rude behavior and ready to go forward to quarrel with him, Jing Yue stopped her.
“Let’s go.” Jing Yue turned back and headed to the side room. Xing Er watched Jing Yue leaving with hesitation in his eyes. He turned to Xing Yi and they made an eye contact. Then they looked down without saying anything and stood in front of the door silently without moving.
Jing Yue went to the side room. The moment Yin Qiao wanted to say something, Jing Yue waved her hand to Yin Qiao and asked for some water to take a shower. After washing, Jing Yue lay on the bed, but couldn’t fall asleep with her eyes wide open. It was so unbelievable that Xiao Chen was injured.
What’s more, he was injured because of her.
The truth made Jing Yue quite uncomfortable in heart.
After a long time of wandering thoughts, Jing Yue gradually felt sleepy when suddenly a loud crack behind made Jing Yue jump out of the bed. She sat up and looked in the direction from which the noise came, only to find that Xiao Chen was standing there with his hands holding the doorframe and gazing at her with gloomy eyes.
“Xiao Chen…” Jing Yue looked at Xiao Chen with her eyes blinking. She noticed blood oozing from the bandaged wound on Xiao Chen’s chest.
“Your Highness! Don’t…” Xing Yi and Xing Er both came and wanted to say something, which, however, was interrupted by Xiao Chen.
“Get out!” Xiao Chen’s voice sounded cold and irresistible, making it impossible for others to persuade him.
With their face slightly changed, Xing Yi and Xing Er stopped their hands; then they chose to obey Xiao Chen and got out of the room slowly. Jing Yue watched Xiao Chen in a complex mood while standing up slowly. They looked at each other for a long time without saying anything. Jing Yue felt awkward and swallowed hard.
