Sam felt like he had spent years in Paris, too much things had happened since he came here and finally it was time to leave.
He didn't take the same backpack as the one he came with, that one was too small so he bought a new one to put everything he bought inside, he had bought clothes for himself and didn't want to throw them away, he also bought souvenirs for his friends and Em. He tasted macarons at Ladurée as it was rumored to be the best in Paris, the person who said that wasn't mistaken. The taste was otherworldly, he wanted Em to taste it too so he bought two boxes of 40 pieces. That's what took the biggest place in his bag, the rest were mostly his clothes and things like his camera and laptop.
His bag weighted at least 15 kilograms, that wasn't much for him but the trip home would take at least 6 hours, even though he was sitting on the bike he still had to keep the backpack on his back, the return trip would be annoying for sure. He got on his bike and turned it on, the beautiful but loud sound startled people that were walking on the street near him, he put his futuristic helmet on and departed, for 6 hours he saw the same landscape he saw when he came in a reversed order. He took one break to eat something in a restaurant around 6 PM and continued the trip, by respecting the speed limits (author note : in France the limit is 130 km/h on the highway.) he should have arrived around 8PM but the tiredness and his sore back made him throw caution in the air and speed up to 180 km/h, due to this he arrived home around 7 PM, a full hour earlier than he should have.
When he finally arrived he realized he was forgetting something, all this long travel with the heavy backpack... he had forgotten about the inventory even though he played with it during all the morning ! He felt completely stupid, he missed an opportunity to try its usefulness.
As it was still early he took a shower and got in the Porsche that was waiting for him under his apartment, if he didn't see it sitting there he would have completely forgotten about it. Once again he started it and a different but just as beautiful sound was emitted by the engine, he loved the sound made by sports machines, whether it was a bike or a car he didn't care much, a car was better because he had a sister to take care of though.
He was tired but he couldn't leave Em at Annie's parents house since he came back, that would be very disrespectful. He also dressed handsomely since he was going to see Annie for the first time in so long, he had missed seeing that joyful and beautiful girl, recently he had realized that he thought about her more often...
His car threaded through dark paths for a relatively long time until he made it in front of Annie's big house, it was still 8 PM so he guessed nobody would be sleeping by now. He got down and unlike the first time pressed the doorbell once, after a short while the small screen turned on and an nature asian woman appeared on it, a light on it was also turned on to illuminate Sam's face, he guessed that must be Annie's mom. They looked too much alike for her to be someone else.
"Madam Li ?"
Sam asked, he prefer to be sure.
"It's me, you are ?"
"Oh good evening ! My name is Sam Petit, I'm Em's big brother."
He said while bowing to the camera, he didn't want to imitate asian coutumes or whatever but he did it unconsciously, since he was young he used to read tons of mangas, light novels and watch animes and dramas, be it Japanese , Korean , Chinese he loved them all, due to that he had a pretty good level of Japanese, he could hold a basic conversation with a Japanese person and he also got very used to asian coutumes, he took this habit of slightly bowing to thank people.
"Sam ?! I didn't know you were coming already ! Come in fast there is plenty of dinner for all of us !"
She looked very happy to hear that he was Sam, before he could even try to refuse her and tell her that he already ate she already wasn't in front of the screen anymore, the big gate opened slowly and he didn't have he choice anymore, since their courtyard was so big he parked the car inside near two Mercedes and one Nissan 370Z, he looked at the Z for awhile before knocking on the front door, since their house was so big he wasn't sure if someone would even hear him knock but he waited, someone would open as they knew that he was here.
Seconds later the door was pushed open and a small figure jumped in his arms, she had tears all over her face and she hugged him as hard as she could, she played the strong girl but she was after all still 7 years old, her brother was her only family and she hadn't seen him in so long, the only times she saw him was on TV.
"Em... Big brother is sorry he left for so long."
He said, his voice was shaking. Seeing his sister crying this much he also wanted to cry but held back, Em didn't come alone as she was followed by all the Li family.
"B-b-big brother !! I missed you so much."
She said while still sobbing, they kept in that position for awhile until she finally calmed down after a minute or so, she got down from his arms and wiped her tears with her sleeves. Sam squatted in front of her, grabbed her small face with his hand, made her look at him and couldn't help but smile as he made her face look fat by pressing it.
"Listen Em, Big brother is sorry that he left so long without you but to apologize I'll take you with me the next time I go, do you want to go ?"
"Where are we going ? Can we take Rika with us ?"
She said while turning around and pointing at her friend, Rika looked excited by the idea and looked at Sam expectantly, she didn't realize that he was in a weird situation.
He looked at her parents that were looking at him with warm smiles for a hint.
"Where are you going ?"
Asked the dad, of course if he left his daughter go he had to know where.
"You must be mister Li, nice to meet you ! I'll be going two months to the US during the summer."
He said once again while bowing, he had a very good impression of this family as they had taken such a good care of his sister.
"Two months is so long, maybe we'll join you there sometime during the summer with all the family, we were planning a summer trip too but didn't decide on where yet."
This made the conversation closed and both girls happily hugged, they would see each other and were so happy but probably didn't even know where the US were...
When Em joined Rika inside, Jin came out and put an arm around Sam's shoulder and whispered something in his ear, both started laughing while he guided him inside, from the side of her eyes Annie kept looking at them while thinking
'Why do they look so close suddenly ? I thought I could talk with Sam alone for awhile...'
Actually the reason they looked so close suddenly was because of Sam's new car, the Nissan outside was Jin's, he was a car maniac and fell in love with Sam's Porsche right away so he approached him to know where and how he got it.
Finally everyone was sitting on the table, both the Li parents saw how Annie looked at Sam and were judging if he was good enough...
