"Stupid servant girl!" he shouted while throwing a slap at Altair's face. This servant girl wasn't even that pretty. She was, at best, average for what a commoner would look like. She appeared to be scrawny too. Her hair wasn't long enough for his tastes and he didn't like the color of it that much. There was much he had to correct here, not just her attitude.

Altair was in the middle of stretching and had been ignoring him so when the slap came she didn't even try to dodge as she wasn't prepared to. The slap gave a crisp sound when it contacted and completely changed Altair's demeanor. She looked at him while her face stung with eyes that seemed to dare him to do that again. It was the gaze of a veteran warrior who had seen hundreds of battlefields.

The air about her seemed to get heavy and she appeared more intimidating than Joshua expected. It was like she had changed into a completely different person.

Joshua had never been exposed to this kind of stare before. He felt a sliver of fear creep through his spine while his mind told him she was looking down on him. He ignored his fear in favor of his anger getting stoked by the look she sent him and shouted, "One isn't enough for you, servant girl!?" He then threw another slap at Altair.

Altair was ready for it this time and she promptly ducked under his wide swing and tackled him to the ground. Altair didn't have much strength right now and knew she would probably have trouble overpowering a child of similar size to her but that didn't mean she couldn't use her weight to her advantage. So she threw herself at him and knocked him over.

This caused Joshua to cry out in surprise. After he rolled to the ground with Altair on top he immediately shouted, "Stupid girl! Know your place!" He then started to try and roll her off him.

Altair had no doubt that if she used her weight and balance against this child there was no chance that he would be able to escape her pin.

However, she was proven wrong.

She was quickly pushed off Joshua who then pinned her underneath him. Even though she did everything in her power to resist she found that the boy was far stronger than he looked. She even wondered if he could already use Mana to strengthen his body. If that was the case then he was probably a prodigy in the making. It also meant that Altair had absolutely no chance of resisting him with her own Mana still being sealed.

In reality Joshua didn't use Mana. He had no access to that kind of energy. Instead he was using Spiritual Energy to strengthen himself. With the aid of his Spiritual Energy it was exceedingly easy for him to overpower Altair. It was like he was pushing over a doll really. There was no challenge in it at all.

He actually found it quite strange that Altair didn't seem to be putting a fight after pushing him down. That didn't dissuade his anger though. He quickly lifted his hands and started raining blows onto Altair's head.

Altair did her best to defend herself from his one sided beating but the difference in strength made her feel like she was fighting an adult without any Mana. She was effectively helpless even when she did block his blows. She didn't mutter any sounds of pain though. She had been through worse pain than this.

Joshua paid no attention to how much damage he was causing and was only throwing more and more attacks at her. She had dared to oppose him when she was just his future servant. She should just die! When she didn't make any sounds even though he was clearly beating the crap out of her it only enraged him further. She actually thought she was strong enough to resist even his beating. He wouldn't let her go so easily.

As Altair's vision started to blur from the attacks and her hands felt they were moving through molasses, a gentle voice came from the door, "Joshua what are you doing?"

Joshua threw another hammer-like punch that caught Altair on the nose and made a crunching sound before he looked over his shoulder and saw a pretty girl he recognized. She was one of his classmates and friends at school. She was also one of the people who looked up to him like he was their brother. After all Joshua was a genius in school. Nobody could match him in a fight or in their studies. There was talk of him possibly being the next Emperor Pilot and he had to agree. How could he let a stupid servant girl insult him so?

In truth, it was merely the praise of adults trying to get onto the good side of his family ahead of time. It was far too early for any kind of talk about how good someone would be at Mecha piloting. They just wanted to get ahead of the other families by praising him to his face for future benefits.

Joshua frowned when he realized Alice Penwhel had come over without him noticing. However, he didn't really care that she had seen him punishing his servant. "I'm disciplining an unruly servant." He then looked back to Altair who couldn't lift her arms to defend herself. Her face was a mess and she was bleeding out of her nose and mouth. She still didn't make a single sound of pain to him and he felt his anger rising again at that.

Due to the lighting in the room, the blood that was coming out of Altair just looked like a dark liquid to Joshua and Alice.

Alice looked at Altair on the ground and sighed, "We have studying to do today. Did you forget your promise to me?" She wasn't even the first one of their group to arrive for the study session they had arranged. They had ended up splitting up to look for Joshua because he was late. And what did she find him doing instead of studying with them as he promised? He was sitting in here beating a servant to death. Her opinion of Joshua had dropped slightly at this moment.

Joshua threw another fist at Altair's unprotected head before replying, "I'm almost done here. Can't you wait for another minute?"

Alice harrumphed at him loudly, "The others are already here and waiting. Should I tell them that you were too busy killing a servant to help us study? I can't wait to see their reaction to that."

Joshua frowned at those words. He didn't want to be known as someone who prefers to beat servants to death instead of fulfilling his promises. He would become a laughing stock if he did that.

He clicked his tongue and looked down on Altair one more time before throwing all his power into one last punch at her head. It caused Altair's head to bounce off the ground from the impact. Joshua then wiped his hands off on her clothes before he got up and left. Alice gave Altair one last pitying look before leaving after Joshua.

Altair had a brutal headache from all that happened. Her face also burned fiercely and she could tell that she was going have a lot of trouble in the coming days. She already couldn't move her arms due to the injuries on them and the damage she had received. She was also seeing double out of one eye while the other had been swollen shut. She also needed to breathe through her mouth as her nose was completely wrecked.

She had heard stories about how brutal nobles were. As it turned out they weren't exaggerated at all.

Altair's mind was swimming as she struggled to collect to her thoughts about what she should do. It was obvious to her that she couldn't stay in this place much longer or that child would end up killing her when he came back. The problem was she was now badly injured on top of her decreased physical state.

With her mind having trouble putting her thoughts together she found herself lying in place without moving much. If she had access to her Mana she would have killed that boy just now. She didn't care if he was a child or not. It turned out Gods were also creatures that could be this cruel for no real reason at all and feel that it was justified. They were just like Humans. Why should she care if she returned the favor?

The two guards at the door did nothing to help Altair. Their job was to keep her in her room and nothing more. It wasn't that they were lazy about their job or anything. They just didn't want to oppose the Young Master. They knew they would probably be fired if they did so. They didn't even want to risk getting in trouble by helping to treat the girl who had been brutalized in the room behind them. There was just too much of chance that they would get canned for it. So, they stood in place and did nothing while Altair was bleeding on the floor.

As time went on Altair was finding it harder and harder to focus her thoughts. Eventually her mind became so clouded that she couldn't think at all. Not long after that she had fallen unconscious.

It wasn't until several hours after she fell unconscious that Donel returned to the room with Altair's dinner and found her unconscious form on the ground. This caused him to drop the food and issue orders to have a Healing Pod prepared immediately for her.

Altair was soon placed within a Healing Pod and Donel quickly questioned the guards who were at the door on what happened. When he found out that the Young Master had brutally beat Altair for not understanding what he said, Donel's expression darkened. He left the guards with strict orders to not let the Young Master into the recovery room or have access to Altair again without Donel or their Master being present and raced off towards Renald's office.

Renald wasn't busy when he arrived. It was actually a rare moment when he was free to enjoy himself. His mood quickly plummeted when he found out that his son almost killed his investment. When he found this out he went to go and check on the girl in the recovery room.

When Renald arrived he reinforced the order to the guards that Donel had given them. He even told them that no matter what, Joshua could not be within the same room as Altair without him being present. Even if the Mistress of the house was with Joshua he should still be blocked from entering. He didn't want to risk losing a golden egg before he found out how much it was worth.

He then looked over the health report the machine was giving out on Altair from the Healing Pod and his mood fell even harder. The machine couldn't connect properly to Altair. It was effectively not doing anything to heal her. This enraged Renald. He quickly put Altair in different Healing Pods but the results were the same in every single one of them.

Left with no other choice he had to call an emergency doctor to his home.

The Healing Pods worked by connecting to someone's Spiritual Self, much like the translation machine. It would then provide support to one's Spiritual Self while guiding their Spiritual Energy to aid in a body's recovery while giving the body some stimulants that would accelerate the generation of Spiritual Energy. Since Altair didn't have a Spiritual Self the machine was as useful as a paperclip in healing her.
