Richard: "I want to work here in Hong Kong, sir"

Mr. Steven: "You have work permits?"

Richard shakes his head, "No sir, I don't have it"

Mr. Steven: "Hmmm…that would be a bit troublesome. Formal contract workers required work permits for migrant works. Aren't you from China right? Where you came from? Vietnam? Or Indonesia? Do you have a passport?"

Richard: "No sir, I'm not from China. I'm from the Philippines and I have a passport".

Mr. Steven: "Oh …. Philippines, I see, just like Horta. Tell me about yourself lads and what you can do for work".

"Young boy, let me see your hands"

"My hands' sir?....well, here"

Mr. Steven examines Richard's hand. The skin is thick and there's some callous in his finger. This certain hand of people who have worked hard and not hands of usual homeboy.

"Can you drive lads?"

"I can drive motorcycle sir, but I never drive a car before"

"It's okay; at least right now I can't give you a job like truck driver hahaha. You can learn how to drive the car later. Right, you don't have a place to stay, yes? You can stay here, take that empty room in the backyard to sleep. I'll show you the room"

"Thank you, sir!"

Mr. Steven leads Richard to his room in the backyard.

"Here we are, young boy! You can use this room for free, just keep it clean and tidy. When I get a suitable job for you, I'll let you know. Now just enter and get some rest, we have dinner at seven".

"Yes, sir! Thank you so much. By the way, is there anyone else live in this house?"

"Nope. Just me and you right now. My wife already passed away and my son lives in a different part of the city. Anything else you want to ask? If not I'll be returning to my own room"

"No sir, I think I'll just start to unpack my baggage"

"Okay, I'll take my leave then"

Mr. Steven turns his back and walks leaving Richard in his room. After Mr. Steven disappears from his sight, Richard closes the door and examining his room. It's not a big room but not small either.
