Week after week is passing by quickly. Aside from his part-time job, Richard now also takes care of Mr. Steven for whatever he needs assistance. Despite how good Richard taking cares Mr. Steven, his health still deteriorated and use most of his time by lying on the bed.
His son knowing his father condition forced him to stay in the hospital but Mr. Steven refuses it. That makes both of them have arguing, which ended by each other said some sharp words toward each other.
Mr. Steven: "Give it up Stephen, you know my sickness is incurable. Why you force me to stay in the hospital"
Stephen: "But you get better medical treatment in there, dad"
Mr. Steven: "What better treatment is that. Forcing me to drink those bitter medicine, injecting me with unknown drugs, put the needle in my arms. And you called it better?"
Stephen: "but those can prolong your life dad"
Mr. Stephen: "For how long? One day? One week? One month? And I must bear the pain during that time, is that what you want?"
Stephen: "Dad! You exaggerated things. Is that Filipino boy brainwashing you?"
Mr. Steven: "Leave Richard alone from this. He's not involving with my decision and I'm not brainwashed by anyone"
Stephen: "Fine! Do whatever you want dad. But don't call me if you want to stay in the hospital. I already offer you this and you refuse it"
Mr. Steven: "I don't need and I don't ask. Don't you glad if I'm dead so you can sell this house?"
Stephen: "Are you going senile when getting old, dad?"
Mr. Steven: "I'm still able to think clearly. How dare you insult your father by saying he crazy"
Stephen: "Your nonsense act is the proof"
Mr. Steven: "Get out! No need to come here again!!"
Stephen: "Humph, as you wish! Don't ever call me for help!"
After his son left, Mr. Steven is coughing heavily. His sickness and the emotional pressure make blood also come out from his cough. Richard, who's hearing the cough, hurriedly brings Mr. Steven's medicine to him.
Richard: "Uncle Steven, calm down, don't let your anger make your health worsening. Here, drink something to soothe your cough"
After drinking the medicine from Richard, finally Mr. Steven's cough recedes and his breathing becomes normal again. Richard brings the tissue to wipe the blood from Mr. Steven mouth. seeing how Richard caring about him make Mr. Steven laugh bitterly.
Mr. Steven: "Hahaha...Isn't it ironic Richard? My own son is treating me like an enemy and you who have no blood relation with me, take care of me like my own son"
Richard: "Please don't talk like that uncle. Both of you under anger and ending by saying something that hurt each other"
Mr. Steven: "That's true, we both exploded the feeling that both of us have been keeping so deep for long. But you see Richard, if my son really cares with me, why he chooses to live apart from me? Why he's not living here with his family? Is this house not big enough?"
Richard silenced. He didn't know Mr. Steven son's reason to live apart from his father so he can't give his opinion just by guessing which can make their relation become worse.
Richard: "Please take rest uncle, you need a lot of rest to keep your health. Don't let your mind make your health disturbed"
Mr. Steven: "Alright Richard, let me sleep for a while. I also feel tired after talking with my son just now"
After the quarrel, that day, Mr. Steven's son never visited his father again and Mr. Steven seems doesn't care about that. Instead talking about his son, Mr. Steven start telling about his young time, how he grows up, how he in the school, how he gets along with his friend and girls, how he met his wife, etc. which give Richard bad premonition, because people who close for their end tend to flashbacking their memories.
And Richard's guess is right, few weeks after that, Mr. Steven's health worsens and make him only able to lie on the bed. Richard already persuades him to get medical treatment in the hospital, but Mr. Steven refuses it.
"I don't want them to put those tube and wires all around my body. If I have to die, I want to die in here, at my own home."
Since Mr. Steven doesn't want to admit in hospital, Richard only able to make him willing to accept doctor visit to check his condition. The doctor who visits Mr. Steven also suggest him to admit in the hospital like Richard, but his suggestion also refused by Mr. Steven. Finally, he only gives some medicine to relieve the pain and come over on a daily base to check the condition of Mr. Steven's health.
One week after that, Mr. Steven calls a lawyer and make his last will. In his last will, Mr. Steven decides to give his house to his grandson, give his old car to a friend of him that love antique car, give Richard some money, and the rest of his property will donate to the certain social foundation.
After making his last will legally be approved by the lawyer, Mr. Steven seems no longer have a burden in his heart. He still talks with Richard about his past and sometimes going out from his bedroom to the veranda using the wheelchair that Richard pushed. In veranda, Mr. Steven enjoys the sunlight and the flower that planted in the yard. This becomes the daily activities of Mr. Steven until one night later he breathing his last breath peacefully. Richard who just knows that Mr. Steven already passed away in the morning can't hold his sadness, but Mr. Steven already told him what Richard should when he passed away.
Without delaying, Richard calls the doctor that usually checking Mr. Steven condition and the lawyer that Mr. Steven asks his help to make his last will. They take over Richard's duties to taking care of Mr. Steven body and do some official works related to Mr. Steven's dead like issuing Death Certificate and noticed Mr. Steven families.
