- Coffee Shop -

A girl with short black hair collapsed into the seat opposite her. This woman is Miyazawa Rosalia, one of her coworkers. "Ahh, I've had it," Rosalia said with a frustrated sigh.

"Zane not pleasing you?" Sophia teased.

"Don't be stupid, that man is godlike you know he's terrific. But my problem is.."

"Lila?"

"That dammed woman, no matter who it is, she seems to be able to seduce them."

'Even Rosalia seems bothered by Lila,' Sophia thought. It's not like Sophia has completely underestimated her. She understands the dangers of being involved with the girl. However, that girl has a crucial weakness; she wondered if anybody's noticed it yet. Clearly not, otherwise they would have taken her down by now.

"What are you going to do about Lila?" Rosalia asked her.

"Me?"

"I mean, you want Haruka back correct?"

Sophia nodded; she stirred the contents of her drink, "Do you know how Haruka and I met?"Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

"No."

"Those days were harsh, because of a war that was going on, the country needed money. To earn quick money to fund the war, the club chose beautiful children like me from the orphanage and offered them up as merchandise and "entertainment" for aristocrats."

"War, ah --- back then," Rosalia nodded in understanding.

Sophia sighed, "You can pretty much guess what happened there. I was whipped, cut, beaten, and tortured. I was used like a whore so many times. They never let me heal up before I went to a customer, so that customer would always get angry that I'm damaged goods and hurt me even more. In my mind, I tried to refuse to believe that it was painful; this is my fate. Even when I was in the orphanage, my situation wasn't any better. That's why it was fine. At least in a place like that, I could have nice meals, wear nice clothes. Talk to loads of people. But after such repeated torture, I realized exactly what I was. An aristocrat's toy, no, 'human garbage."

"Your pretty casual talking about all of this."

"That's because it doesn't bother me now."

"Now? But it did before?" Rosalia mumbled

"When I met Haruka. When I realized I was in a living hell, I did something crazy - I no longer want to see myself suffering so much. So I gouged out my right eye. But for some strange reason that made the aristocrats want me more. Such a crazy bunch, my situation only worsened," Sophia sighed at the memory. "Now those very people are begging at my feet."

Sophia noticed Rosalia staring at her arm, where bruises and deep lash markings remained visible. "Why keep the scar then?"

"So I can remember."

Rosalia raised her eyebrows at this comment, " You actually want to remember this?"

Sophia laughs, "Not in that sense. It's so when I next see them I can kill them."

"Don't you see them?"

"I do, but those people aren't the ring leaders. So, anyhow, I tried to commit suicide several times. But whenever I did, I'd always stop. For some reason, I just couldn't do it. Why was I so attached to life? It made little sense to me. Afterwards, I met Haruka."

"A good first meeting?"

"Hardly," Sophia laughed as the memory came to her, "He would always insult me. Haruka would always tell me that I don't really want to die, that deep down I still had hope. So just to prove him wrong, I tried it again. But I couldn't do it. However, when I dared him too, he almost lost his life. The difference between us two was because I still had hope, while he gave up on everything. When I asked him how he knew, Haruka told me was always watching me. Haruka told me that if I wanted to escape, we should team up."

"So you two teamed up then?"

"We teamed up yes, but our escape was not without consequences. The two of us died. Back then, I raged and yelled so badly. We can't die; neither of us can die until we see the world. It was then Zane appeared before us with an offer. He even fixed my eye with his powers; with this eye, I can read peoples emotions. Zane warned me, however, that this eye can have side effects, that I could lose sight of what's important. But those words were nothing to me.

"So the reason you hate Lila is.."

"Unlike me who stood by his side for so long, that woman lived a sheltered life. Deep down, Haruka probably hates her."

....

Apartment Block Downtown (South Manor)

"Didn't think you'd come back here after that little show," the moment Sophia entered, she spotted familiar shoes at the door and couldn't help but grin.

"Let's talk," Haruka said with a deep sigh as he ran his hand through his hair, "Tell me, what will it take for you to leave Lila and me alone?"

Sophia giggled, "Don't be so hasty, why don't we have some drinks first?"

Haruka nodded, and Sophia pulled out some large bottles from the fridge.

"You drugged it?"

"Of course, how long will you last?" she chuckled when she saw that he drank it regardless, "Not afraid?"

"Why do I have to?"

"Remember what we said back then? If we ever experience happiness, we would..."

"Kill each other? Is that why you're doing this?" Haruka mumbled.

"That's right."

"Damn," Haruka cursed, " Then just kill me, why do you have to involve Lila?"

"Because she's the reason you've become weak. Haruka, you have to be realistic. You know you two can't be together forever. So why do you still try? Are you that much of an idiot?"

"Just leave me alone... I know what I'm doing."

Sophia sighed, "Do you really? Why did you come here, then? Haruka, you may love that girl. But in your heart you understand, you two can't be together forever."

...

"I have to get going," Haruka mumbled.

"Shouldn't you stay put?" Sophia said with a devilish smile as she ran her hand through his exposed chest, "You're drugged heavily if you walk out like this and the media catches you, then you'll get in trouble."

"Give me some water then."

"Right."

From the corner of her eyes, Sophia could see Haruka take his phone out. She frowned when she noticed it was a different one. Did he actually get rid of the phones Zane gave them? How stupid.

"Since your wife will be busy, why don't you just stay here for a while longer?"

"I'm leaving once the drugs settled," Haruka trailed off, "What did you do with my cigarettes?"

"Take them for awhile. You don't have Zane's medicine anymore."

Haruka seemed reluctant but nodded.

"Isn't it a better genre? You don't seem to smoke around your wife."

"Because I don't want her to get even sicker."

Sophia rolled her eyes, "You're so considerate to your wife," and caressed his cheeks, "How about me? Would you care so much if I got sick?"

"You never get sick, don't ask something so ridiculous."

But she has on plenty of occasions, and during those times he never batted an eyelid before Haruka is emotionless and cold like a ice after all. However, after Terashima Lila came into the picture, things changed.

"Scum is scum no matter where they go."

Haruka smiled, "Yeah, that's probably true."

"So you admit you haven't changed?"

"Don't you know that better than anybody?"

Hmmm, so he's still the same old him after all. Sophia removed her hands, "So? You're not going to turn against me."

"Don't harm her physically, and things won't change between us."

"Oh? Will you sleep with me?"

"I can't do that," Haruka shook his head, "But, things won't change."

He seems so sure of that. "Fix my hair up for me. You can do that, can't you?"

Haruka sat up, and Sophia felt his hands brush across her messy blonde locks. During the process of Haruka doing her hair, Sophia found herself singing.

"Up to your standard?"

Haruka sighed, "Don't even try to compete with Lila on stage; you'd lose miserably."

"Oh?

"I don't need a fake now that I've grasped the real thing in my hands."

"What a greedy man, but, that's one of your redeeming qualities."

"Why are you so hung about the past?"

"And your not? You keep coming here, even our old apartment in London."

"You knew?"

Sophia's lips curve to a smile, "I have my resources."

"Sophia, I.."

Sophia turned around and brushed her fingers seductively against Haruka's lips, "You don't have to say anything, I understand even without you saying a word. Hey Haruka, isn't it enough already? Quit messing around and return to me. If you do, I promise you that things will be better this time."

...

Who passes out after being drugged so heavily? Ordinary people yes, but not Karashima Haruka. However, there was no doubt that Haruka was knocked out. A deep sigh escaped Sophia's lips, how hopeless.

Whenever Sophia thought back to the past, Karashima Haruka's face would come to mind and the countless times they did it.

____

20XX

Sophia woke up with her entire body aching all over as she glanced at the clock. 4: 30 am... Too early and yet her gaze fell on the back of the man who got up and walked over to the wardrobe. "Leaving for work already?"

"You're awake? Go back to sleep."

"I will, where are you going today?"

This man is Karashima Haruka. Her boyfriend? Lover? Well whatever he was, they've been living together for a while now. Haruka doesn't reply and simply walked over to her.

A few minutes later.

"Nnghh.... Ahh.. Late, you're late..."

"Sophia...."

Such an unreasonable man. Certainly, if she wanted a lover, she could have found somebody better. Somebody who would treat her like a Queen. There are many candidates. But the reason why she settled down with this person is because of how similar they are.

....

To think Haruka is working here. It was the place she frequently went to, to hang out with friends, and right now she was doing just that. She only worked night shifts at a bar. During the day she frequently mingled with high-class circles. Today was the same.

"Hey Sophia, did you see that man?"

"He's so handsome."

"How much do you think for a night?"

"Silly girl, your such a nouveau riche. You can't just buy the workers here," another blonde-haired girl called said.

Would this be the wrong time to say it? Then again, she and Haruka do have a rule about boundaries. Sophia kept her mouth shut, but after a few minutes of hearing the two girls fawn over Haruka, she grew more agitated. Rich people are all the same after all; they don't care about other peoples feelings. To them, the workers working here are no different than toys. Sophia did not doubt that everybody - the guests here treat the workers like trash because of their difference in social status.

Places like this made her sick to the very core. She would rather stick to night clubs that had more of her own kind there. However, Haruka insisted that the pay in these places are better. Indeed now she could see why he evaded mentioning where he was working. That man is strangely considerate at times.

"Miss Sophia, have you considered my offer yet?" the man who just spoke to her was a 50 old CEO from a relatively well-known company. However, that meant nothing to her. Not only was he grubby and fat. His achievements do not match his wealth at all. This person would not be able to help Haruka and her, so why does she have to bother with him?

Sophia brushed him off, but that only lead to him growing angrier, and he reached over and slapped her. The circle of people she was with looked over and whispered. But of course, nobody tried to help. Why would they? To them, she was nothing.

To her surprise, though, Haruka made his way over and pulled her away, "Sir, you want to make a move on my woman?

"Ha, who on e-- Karashima Haruka."

"Wait seriously?"

"That's him?"

He's already building quite a name for himself?

"Your woman?"

"Have a problem?"

Sophia's lips curve to a smile, "I don't. But shouldn't you show people that I'm yours," Sophia was doing this deliberately? She disliked how those girls were fawning over Haruka.

Desire.

Longing.

Lust.

The relationship between her and Karashima Haruka was fairly easy.

"I'm working."

"I'll tell your boss ~ I want this one handsome worker to wait on me hand and foot."

Both of them have desires; both of them feel pain and fear. Both of them are empty beings. Haruka put the tray down and lifted her onto a spare counter, her lips curve to a smile when she saw the girls glance over. Heh.
