Chapter 3.1 – I’m Making Money

“Pay me, man.”

The Devil Dog let out a pathetic whimper. Joo Min-Seong didn’t think the Devil Dog would pay the fee. After all, the message already said 0%. However, his self-esteem would be even worse if he hadn’t been on that timid power trip.

It was just plain self-comfort.

Joo Min-Seong then tried several tests to see how he could utilize the Devil Dog.

“Sit.”
“Gr.”
“Get up.”
“Grr…”

‘It follows orders properly.’

Fortunately, despite not paying the bill, the Devil Dog could understand orders very well.

“You are Korean, right? You aren’t deceiving me too, right?”
“Woof!”

Having already been conned before regarding his weapon, Joo Min-Seong could not afford to have a faulty new weapon. Looking carefully at the Devil Dog, Joo Min-Seong threw a piece of armor to test the performance of the Devil Dog’s real weapon, its teeth.

“Bite that.”
“Woof!”

Crack!

The armor, which had been responsible for Joo Min-Seong’s safety, shattered in one bite. Only then did Joo Min-Seong realize his luck. The Devil Dog didn’t fight him seriously. If he had been bitten so hard from the beginning, Joo Min-Seong wouldn’t have survived. He was correct in thinking that the dog had been toying with him.

“Ha… I’m still lucky.”

He felt a little bad, but his life was his most precious asset when traveling through a gate. His ridiculously weakened state somehow served as a fortune to him. Now that the Devil Dog was an outstanding offensive weapon, he was very precious to Joo Min-Seong.

“I believe in you, man.”
“Woof!”

The tension was relieved in an instant, and Joo Min-Seong became attached to the Devil Dog, who understood his orders well.

“Your name is Kong from now on.”
“Woof?”
“It’s Kong, you moron.”
“Woof!”
“Kong-Ah, please keep an eye on this building.”
“Woof.”

Gate exploration was only the beginning. For now, he only had one hideout. Joo Min-Seong tried to get a feel for what his ability was capable of.

“I wonder how I’m supposed to grow my capacity. I’m sure it was expressed through action. Hm…”

I posed like the talented people I saw on TV and shouted the technical name, but the rest was all just shameful.

“… Follow me, Kong.”
“Grr…”

Joo Min-Seong, escorted by the Devil Dog, headed toward a neater looking building nearby to secure it.

[This building has a high rating.]
[Only the lowest-class buildings can be owned.]

‘A new message!’

The content itself was negative, but for Joo Min-Seong, who did not know the conditions for the message’s appearance, the current message was a very precious sentence.

‘I can only own half-destroyed buildings? I’m in trouble.’

Currently, the building he owned was in danger of collapsing at any time.

‘It may be safer to stay in the tent…’

Inspiration suddenly dawned on Joo Min-Seong.

“Hmm?”
“Woof?”
“Tent! Yes. Let’s put up a tent.”
“Grrr!”

People could stay in tents, too, not only in buildings. With a glimmer of hope, Joo Min-Seong hurriedly took some equipment out of his bag and began installing the tent.

‘If only this tent was treated as a building!’

“Grrr!”

‘The number of purrs has increased. Is it hungry?’

“Kong, are you hungry?”
“Woof!”
“Wait a bit. Let’s just set this up and eat.”
“Woof!”

‘Somehow, I feel like we’re on the same wavelength.’

“Ta-cha! Kong, hold that up.”
“Grr.”

Joo Min-Seong quickly assembled the poles and connected them to the inner tent. Fortunately, with Kong’s help, the installation process was quite easy.

“Hoo~ This disgrace was worth 200,000 won… Really?”

Overall, it took less than 30 minutes because it was a cheap, one-person tent.

“Done! Is it time for the long-awaited entry!”
“Woof!”

As Joo Min-Seong stepped carefully into the tent, excited, a shocking message appeared suddenly.

[You have entered a building without an owner.]
[Ownership has been transferred to Joo Min-Seong.]
[You have temporary ownership of the terrain.]
[Tent (assembled) will be added to the List of Owned Buildings.]
[A building that can be easily assembled has been claimed.]
[When you sleep in the tent, your body recovery rate increases.]
[Owning a building with an additional ability for the first time gives you the ability ‘Property Replication’ (Lv1).]

According to the message, Joo Min-Seong was able to use abilities that were beyond common sense. Also, the increased recovery rate offered by the tent was very similar to a healing ability.

In any gate expeditions, the recovery abilities were treated fairly well, even at low levels. This was because the presence or absence of a person with a recovery ability, such as conditioning or psychological stability, greatly influenced the gate expedition. Even a high-ranking recovery worker was practically a real aristocrat, as he received enormous benefits from all over the world.

“I didn’t want to be treated as such, but recovery will be very useful. Nice!”

Surprisingly, new abilities began to be engraved into his mind as well as the usage fee. The next thing Joo Min-Seong noticed was the ‘Property Replication’ ability.

“Hmm… Level 1? What’s this? Is it like a game?”

As times changed, many industries disappeared. However, because the games industry was still around, Joo Min-Seong could understand the concept of levels.

“Woof!”
“Wait a minute, Kong. Let me check this ability first.”
“Grr…”

‘The property can be replicated once a day, but it’s expensive…’

Ironically, the most expensive item that remained in Joo Min-Seong’s possession was the tent.

“Ha… Even if I had saved my armor…’

“Property Replication.”
