Once my tears stopped flowing, I took a step back, hiding myself at the root of a tree. As Atlas approached, his face is pale and tiredness is written all over it. After I calmed down, I remembered what Atlas has said.

His voice sounded painful when he told me his father is now dead. The cause of his sadness is all because of me. I know I won’t be forgiven, but even so I wanted to apologize. However as I was going to speak, a low voice fell into my ear.

“Is your magic still okay?”

It was like he was reminding me about my current condition. The flow of mana inside my body can hardly be felt. It’s like if you have a tattered magical book, you can feel that the “vessel” is slowly cracking due to heavy use. In the novel, the “villainess” is supposed to be in this state after being chased around by the hero.

–If I continue to use magic in my condition, at this rate, my mana will run out and my life will be extinguished before I meet Gil-sama again.

Atlas gently shook his head and after untying his backpack, rummaged around inside for something. He took out a small parcel and inside was dried food and herbs. He also took out a small bottle with countless pills inside with hesitation. He held up a pill up in the moonlight. The pill reflected a dull silver color after the moonlight reflected on it. I have seen it in the novel but I have never used it before.

“this is…”

“A souvenir from Gil.”

It was never necessary for me to use but the soldiers at the end of the war held it for emergencies. But Keika said she had used it countless times before. It is a magical pill that rapidly restores your mana.

However, there are side effects as it is also a poison. When I thought about it, I took it from him. Looking up at Atlas, He smiled while whispering:

“You don’t know since you haven’t used it, but it won’t affect you if you drink it all at once.”

He took a single pill and swallowed it before stopping. Sounds of crushing and swallowing are heard and then he spat some blood. The sensation felt like being intoxicated after drinking many times.

“Have you used it before?”

“Something like that.”

The virtue the hero in the novel always spoke about is always realized after many twists and turns.

Someone will not die.

There are no cruel deeds done.

Things like pain and suffering do not occur.

It should be a character that moves toward a safe and peaceful ending without any dangers lurking.

Why is it so dangerous now?

“Knight school is just a way to learn theories, Everyone just learned for the sake of learning. The rest is just dull. So I’m going to the battlefield as a magician.”

…That’s it.

I think it was because Atlas chose the path to be a magician instead of the path to being a knight.

I was the one who encouraged him to be a magician on the battlefield.

Because I slapped him with the harsh reality of war.

Then this too, I…

“I don’t have enough and it seemed to be wrapped in water magic, but keep it in one as it will recover until you can defend yourself”

A single drop of it dulls the moonlight.

This is poisonous to the body.

“I” panic in my head, thinking if I should drink it.

But if I don’t take it, I will surely die.

The foolishness I committed is in the form of poison in front of me.

If…

When one take it and crush it using your molars, the bitterness will gradually spread in your whole mouth. It was like medicine “I” have tasted before and while my mind is thinking, I put up with the discomfort it gave me, giving me goose bumps.

*******

Although it was a very potent drug, taking it is a very reckless action according to Atlas.

Even if it was not possible to return to the fort, it seems like a rescue operation was brought out and return to the base with the soldiers deployed in the vicinity.

However, it will be difficult if they take me with them, even if they have a medic with them, I will bring them down as I have anaemia due to bleeding so much.

Unfortunately we were found by the enemy soldiers.

Even if I take the recovery pills, it still didn’t replenish enough mana to generate a lethal blow to kill the enemy. But Atlas isn’t in any better. My mana has run out and I am also physically exhausted.

Something bright crimson is being emitted from my body, and a scream not being voiced out is about to come out.

There is a pungent smell of meat and low grunts mixing together.

I have to burn it up so I don’t suffer longer.

Even if I force myself to use my fire magic to the point of trembling, I will just suffer the pain of not being able to materialize my power, because my mana is slowly being depleted.

It was too late when I realized that a sword is slowly coming through Atlas, while he, did not even have a chance to pull his sword out, was stabbed by the enemy.

Blood spurts from his wound and dyes Atlas’ clothing, while looking at the enemy soldiers that fell without emotions.

“uu….guh…..”

A nauseating, teeth chattering scene is laid out before me. Of course, there is fear in what I have done.

This scene of man killing man is too realistic that it overwhelms all of my senses.

But more that that—- The hero screams that he and his friends should not repeat someone’s actions.

I feel a strong nausea and discomfort.

This cannot be.

Taking poison, killing people, what’s next?

Unlike me, he should be on the right path, and supporting the hero.

The villain will always trudge the same path no matter how many sins he commit, but the supporting character suddenly deviated from the story as he sins like this.

Don’t make Atlas any guiltier than this.

This word drives me to the wall that it has become so painful.

I crouch and cover my trembling body as “I” scream in my head.

“Please give me the pill.”
