Chapter 12

After giving my thanks to Ruben, I left the southeastern gate where the third division was commissioned.

For the time being, I’ll be heading over to the guild to check if I managed to get my reward.

My body still hurts in various places, but it’s not as bad as yesterday so I’m at least able to walk.

While walking, I looked at the coin I had on my hand.

It had a peculiar engraving on it showing the side of a skeleton’s head.

(I wonder if it’s safe to try it out… )

From what Ruben said, when I passed out, the skeleton disappeared. It left the wolf and this coin.

This coin should have something to do with the skeleton, so perhaps I can use this to summon it… Maybe…

I can’t really test it out here though. Maybe when I get back outside.

In any case, Ruben and his group appears to have brought over my belongings to the guild along with the wolf corpse.

Same goes with Addonis.

It’s a shame I didn’t get to show more of my gratitude towards them.

… And so, I’ve arrived at the guild.

~ Adventurer’s life Day 5 (Fri) Afternoon ~ Comnes Town – Adventurers Guild – Exchange Centre

There wasn’t anything particularly noteworthy happening in the guild when I visited the exchange centre.

First I’ll talk about the rabbit. I had it’s scales with me, but even when I took a part off, the removal was sloppy so the reward I received was only a meagre amount.

Next, the potion was judged to be low grade.

I wonder how they judge these kinds of things.

I’ve thought of cancelling the transaction and just use it for myself, but I have some things I needed to buy so I accepted to sell it.

Once I can move properly again, I’m thinking of gathering more potion ingredients by the marshlands.

Oh, and the forest wolf! I got back the equivalent of five days worth of payment! I could have kept the fangs and bones for my own use, but money takes priority so I sold them all.

With having so much money on me all of a sudden, I became a little more wary around me…

I was planning on heading over to give Addonis a visit… but I was suddenly called over.

The one who called me over was the one that assisted me back when I was applying for the guild. It was a woman with red hair, and I believe her name was Doris.

“I know you’re a little busy, but do you mind if I were to ask you something?”

Though she said that, I don’t think I have any room to refuse.

I mentioned that I have some things to do later so I can’t really stay for too long, while following her.

We entered a small room with a table where we were talking about the matter regarding the forest wolf.

“Aah, so the reason why the guild didn’t come….”

As expected, even if it is the guild, it still has to deal with things like acquiring information, stop requests for the rock fields and give warning notices

Unfortunately, I wasn’t actually warned at the time.

“Now, do you mind answering some of these questions… “

At then, I talked about what happened with the wolf and the skeleton… there’s a good chance the guild might have some information with summons like the skeleton.

The conversation then directed to having me demonstrate my summoning.

Not that I mind, I wanted to test it out too.

Though I am a little worried of people seeing since the summoning may be dependant on the coin. It’s a problem if it gets stolen.

Regardless, I begin to attempt my summoning.

Not really knowing what to do, I stared at the coin and put the thought of wishing to summon, kinda like how I do when I made my potions. And then like with the potion, the skeleton suddenly appears in front of me.

Surprised, Doris looked like she was about to fall off her seat.

Just like last time, the skeleton had a look around on its surroundings.

“I haven’t seen a familiar like this before….”

… That’s a shame.

I went over to the skeleton and gave the instruction to desummon.

Thankfully it worked. I’d have had a very bad day if that didn’t. I still need my mana on other things.

I asked later if there’s still anything they know about the sculptor divine protection.

There was that legend of a guy named Porpenius who was said to have carved a statue of a goddess so amazing that it even made a wicked king to repent for his actions.

But stories like this are only available to the rich.

… What a wonderful society.

After giving my thanks, I left the guild.

~ Adventurer’s life Day 5 (Fri) Evening ~ Comnes Town – Weapons Workshop [Adonnis’ Blade]

I popped my head into the shop. The place seems to still be in the middle of its rush hour even in the evening.

Even so , Adonnis still noticed and gave a shout to me.

“Oooo! I heard! You actually lived! Come back tomorrow and tell me all the details!”

“Well alright, see you tomorrow then!”

I guess it can’t be helped, and so I went back to the inn.

There I stumbled across auntie on the way up.

“Now where you yesterday! I was surprised you didn’t come back! Ahahahaha!”

My bad, auntie.

When I entered the room, the usual six people whom I never interacted with were already asleep.

Compared to the medical ward, I feel much more comfortable here.

~ Adventurer’s life Day 6 (Sat) Early Morning ~ Comnes Town – Weapons Workshop [Adonnis’ Blade]

Woken up by the morning sun, I had my breakfast then left the inn.

I carried my round shield in my usual bag, and headed towards Addonis’ shop while still bearing with my wounds.

“Morning!”

“Ooo, you came. Well, take a seat somewhere.”

And so I sat and chatted about some things, including my meeting with the guild yesterday along with the skeleton.

There’s also that matter with the shield and dagger.

“If I didn’t stop to get some equipment before going out, I would’ve been pretty much dead.”

“You still did pretty well in managing it on your own.”

Adonnis took the shield and inspected it.

There’s a number of claw marks all over it, but there doesn’t seem to be any real damage on it. Just scratches.

This shield really is sturdy.

“… This one also doesn’t seem to be in bad shape either.”

He had a look at the bone dagger I used.

It was used to keep the wolf in check but it never really made a connection until the end, so I’m not too surprised by this.

Even so, I believe the bone weapon buff would help it anyways.

… From here on out though is the whole reason why I wanted to come here.

“In any case, I wanted to buy some equipment for my skeleton.”

“Hoo! That’s right. You probably got a pretty decent reward from that wolf. Where is that thing anyways.”

“I’m going to show it to you, just don’t be too surprised okay?”

“I can’t promise that.’

I moved away a little and placed the coin on to the floor. As if it was there the whole time, the skeleton suddenly appeared.

“….!!”

Adonnis continued to stare at it with folded arms.

I guess he got a little surprised, but if I had blinked I would’ve missed it.

“… So that that thing is summoned from that coin huh! That sure is weird. Can you control it?”

“I can give it commands like ‘attack’ and ‘follow me’.”

“… Hm. Alright. Wait a bit.”

He then brought over a number of weapons from the back, like a hatchet and an iron kite shield. Figuring out what he’s planning, I also removed my leather armor and had the skeleton try it out.

… Yup, he looks much more intimidating with all the equipment on.

Even more so compared to me.

“That weapons pretty easy to use and pretty reliable… In any case, you want another armor for yourself?”

“A leather robe, do you have one?”

Leather robe. A staple armor for Necromancers. Anything more than that would and it would give me an equipment penalty.

For support types, it’s usually a mana consumption increase sort of penalty.

If I equip a robe, I was thinking I’ll be able to keep the skeleton out longer.

Though in exchange, it makes me a little more squishy. But I figured it’ll be better if I leave most of the tanking to my skeleton.

It’ll be nice if it was leather though. Since I only have one skeleton with me, I might be forced into battle if there’s more than one opponent.

“No well, I don’t really handle those sort of things you know. I don’t even have the materials for it. You’re gonna have to look somewhere else for that.”

How honest of him.

… But that’s quite troubling.

I don’t know of any place that sells it.

“Ah hold on, wait a bit. I got something good!”

Adonnis once again went to the back room.

He came back soon with what looks like a pile of pelts… What’s this?

“It’s fine, so just try it on!”

It feels kinda heavy, perhaps it’s a coat.

Kinda fluffy too, so it’s a little difficult to put on.

“Not bad, check it out!”

… I look like a barbarian with this coat on….

There’s some fur under the coat on the shoulder areas that makes me look larger.

It really does give off a savage vibe.

Can I have the bone dagger equipped to it?

I wanted it be leather, not fur.

Pelt doesn’t count.

“It’s surprising how much it fits you. You should buy this!”

“….”

… After failing to haggle the price any lower, I acquired the barbarian coat.
