At the table, Pia and Saavi kept the lively atmosphere with their jokes and stories about Mikaela's childhood.

"Oh, oh... Remember that time she pranked Lord Mano by putting glue on his office chair and desk! Hahaha.." Pia laughed at the old memory.

"What happened?" Jonas has never laughed so much in his life, he was eager to know what happened next.

"He didn't leave his office for three straight days because he was too embarrassed to let anyone know what happened! Hahaha...Once he was freed, he made Miss Mikaela clean every furniture in the household by hand as punishment."

Jonas looked at Mika amaze that she would do such a thing to her father.

"....and to this day Lord Mano always checks his chair before sitting on it! Hahaha"

"You really did that to your father?" Jonas asks, surprised.

"It was never proven that it was me, he just assumed it was..." Mika grabbed a dinner roll to soak up the rest of her soup.

"So it wasn't you?"

"No, I was me."

"...but you just said..."

"He had no proof! How can he punish me just because he "knows" it was me!"

Jonas vowed never to question this minx on rationality anymore.

A couple more stories went around before, Saavi question Pia on a rumor she heard from the other servants.

"Is it true that Lady Jaelah and Lady Delju have been fighting?"

Pia looked over at Lyra for permission to speak, before letting the whole table know about what went on in the clan for the past two weeks.

"This is what happened.....and then she....so Lady Delju decided to...and that's what started..."

Mika looked over at the overly enthusiastic Pia and Saavi, gossiping about the fights that happened.

Hmm? Gossip must be an occupational hazard. Mika thought.

Just as Pia was getting to the climax of the story, a knock was heard at Lady Lyra's door.

Holding off on finishing her story, Pia ran to get the door to come face to face with Lord Mano.

"Ah...Lord Mano, good evening...!" Composing herself, Pia made way for Mano to enter while also alerting Lady Lyra with her greeting.

By the time Mano entered the dining room, everyone there knew who was at the door.

"Daddy..!"

"Lord Mano...!"

"Mano."

Various greeting met Mano as he invited himself to sit down at the table.

Pia and Saavi ran around gathering extra plate and utensils.

"Daddy...why didn't you take up the other wives'offers to eat dinner with them?" Mano looked at his mischievous daughter before glancing at his wife.

He didn't want to admit that he was here because Lyra neglected him earlier today.

"I didn't get to spend enough time with you-"

"Huh...but we already spend how much time together on the flight home..."

"Well...it's nice to spend some family time together-"

"...but aren't the other wives and my siblings your family too?"

"Yes...but I felt like having some of your mother's cookin-"

"How did you know mother cooked this meal, I don't believe she told-"

"Mikaela! Be quiet and eat your food! Why are you talking so much at the table..." Grabbing a dinner roll and plugging it into Mika's mouth, Mano was finally able to silence her daughter.

Really, how can she shame her own father this way!

Mika ate the bread while giving her father the side-eye.

The dinner conversation turned into more subdue with Lord Mano being present.

"Why is everyone so quiet? Continue with your conversation, no need to stop because I joined you...What were you talking about anyway?" Mano scooped some soup into his bowl.

No one was going to say what the conversation was really about, but obviously, Mika didn't get the memo.

"We were talking about how dysfunctional this family is..." Mika snatched the last dinner roll from under her father's outstretched hand before stuffing it into her mouth, effectively making herself look like a little chipmunk.

"Is that something you should say around mix company...Lyra is this how you teach our daughter...!" Mano couldn't believe Mika would say something so openly in front of their guest.

"There is nothing wrong with stating facts..." Lyra leisurely sipped her dewberry juice.

"Facts?..." Mano let his spoon drop into his bowl.

The tension in the room was thick enough to cut through, making Jonas sweat.

And here a thought the Udava clan had problems...He thought as he wiped the sweat off of his hands.

"Yes, facts. Is it not true that the person who kidnapped Mika was Lord Kendel, Lady Delju's brother!" Lyra didn't bother to hide her anger.

"Yes, Lord Kendel did, but there has been no proof that Lady Delju was involved!" Feeding off of Lyra anger, Mano slapped the table with a rage of his own.

"You actually believe that she didn't-"

"Yes, I do! Because if I start doubting my clan members without proof, it will only lead the clan into destruction!... What you did, by notifying the governor's office, has only made people gossip about us!"

"Who cares-"

"I care!" Mano stood up from the table, knocking back his chair.

"And I care that my child was kidnapped by your wife!" Lyra also stood up, throwing back her chair.

Mano and Lyra squared off against one another while everyone else swiftly left the room.

Once outside, Jonas got a little worried.

"Should we really leave them alone like that?" Jonas looked back at the room they just left.

"Of course, who wants to watch my parent's foreplay...?"

Unfortunately for Lyra and Mano, Mika wasn't far enough away for them not to hear her statement, causing their faces to turn red for an entirely different reason.
