Inside the office, Mano sat behind his desk, leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed.

"Mano...are you planning to hide?" Lyra walked to the sofa and sat down.

Mano released a sigh before leaving his seat to join her on the sofa.

"Lyra, it's just rumored..." Gathering her in his arms, Lyra lean back into Mano's arms.

"Many people are already starting to believe those rumors. Shouldn't you start to-"

"I have not received any letter asking for marriage, between the Amara clan and the royal family. And even if I did, I will not allow Kamryn to marry Prince Thallan. How can I have my daughter live the rest of her life to that sicko!" Mano, like Lyra and Mika, had heard the deprived stories about Prince Thallan.

Like when he was seven, he had his guard hacked to death because of a broken arm he received when the said guard, pushed him out of the way during an assassination attempt on his life.

Or when he was eleven, and he had his maid eat a bowl a stew made with her family's body parts, all because she made a request to visit her family on his birthday.

And these are some of the more tame stories about Prince Thallan, which already have Mano sick to his stomach. Mano shooked his head to clear away the disgusting stories. No, he will not allow a child of his the marry and a person like that.

While Mano was in his thoughts, all Lyra could think about is what Mika said to her this morning.

"If Kamryn doesn't marry him, then I will have to..." Shaking her own head, Lyra tried to clear that outcome from her mind.

"How can you fight against the royal family, if they want Kamryn?"

"Our Amara clan is not that weak that we can't reject the marriage. We might not be as powerful as some of the other clans, but we are still an elite family..." Mano thought Lyra was worried for Kamryn's future, and he sort to reassure her.

Regrettably, Lyra was facing away from Mano, and he didn't get to catch the slight coldness that passed through her eyes.

That bitch better marry that snake!

Another week passed with the rumors growing to the point where everyone was paying homage to Kamryn.

With almost of all of Kaia Kingdom knowing about the marriage it would seem weird if there weren't any objections coming from Ailwin.

So before the official letter was sent out by the royal family, Ailwin filed a complaint to the king, which of course he knew would be ignored.

When the report arrived, Prince Thallan was sitting in his father's office reading.

"...You have stolen your brother's fiancee..." King Rychell tossed the report to the side and continued to look over his other documents.

"Hmph...it seems brother has become quite desperate to tattle on me to you....maybe he really likes this girl?" Thallan picked up the discarded report off of the desk, to read it for himself before tossing aside as his father did.

Thallan sat down a looked at his father; with eyes as golden has the sun, hair so dark it looks blue and a body of a muscular middle-aged man, Rychell looked more like a brother to his sons than a father.

Thallan didn't know where his father gets his youthful looks from, but he wanted it. He would often look at himself in the mirror and see his father looking back at him. They could even pass for identical twins if Thallan's hair and eyes weren't a different color.

He hated it. Everyone was always comparing him to his father. When he was younger he would enjoy the comparisons, he would even go so far as to learn Rychell's mannerisms happy to be his father's shadow.

Now, older, he felt himself being sucked into that shadow. The only way for him to break free is to take the throne for himself, using his own power and show all of Kaia that he is nothing like his father.

"Thall..." Rychell had been staring at his son's face for the past few minutes. He watched as his expression changed from one emotion to the next. He readings every thought that was floating in his son's mind.

"Hmm?...yes, father..." Thallan quickly composed himself, hiding away all thoughts of him knocking his father off his throne.

"I don't care if you want to toy around with your siblings or one of the daughters from the high clans...but there is one thing you must remember, always..." Rychelll leans back in his chair, giving Thallan his full attention.

"What is that?" Thallan looked intently at his father, thinking he is about to receive some important news.

"...You can only act this way because I allow it... I am King." Rychell's eyes seem to glow at that moment as the weight of his words fell on top of Thallan's body like a ton of bricks.

"...I....I...understand...." Thallan whimpered out, against the pressure of his father's powers.

"Good...Now you have a wedding to prepare for, don't you?" Rychell smiled at his son like he didn't just threaten to squash him like a bug just a few moments ago.

"...y-yes."

"Good. Go then." Rychell went back to his work, basically dismissing his son from the room.

Thallan left the office sweating bullets.

How could I drop my guard around that old snake!? Damnit! Thallan looked back at the door and sucked his teeth.

Your day will come soon, old man....
