The two women froze at once, looking at the door. It was the director! A flicker of anxiety crossed their faces. “Director, please let me explain… It’s all Mu Jiuyue’s fault…”

“Stop! This is our company. Go out to fight!” The director said impatiently, manifesting his disgust with a glance.

“Besides, Mu Jiuyue, you come with me!” The director uttered these words lightly and turned to leave.

Mu Jiuyue took a look at the director’s back, then glared at the two women and raised her head. “Next time there will be more than the splashing water!”

“You!” In a rage, one of them was going to rush to her, but was pulled back by the other.

Mu Jiuyue grimaced at them and followed up quickly.

In the office, the director, sitting at the desk, threw out a file and then slightly lowered his head.

“What’s this?” Mu Jiuyue opened and glanced at the file, asking in confusion.

“This is the material of a new product our company has developed. Next week, your mission will be making a market report on this product.” The director said simply.

“But I don’t know how to do it.” Mu Jiuyue was shocked. Today was her first day in the company!

The director was somewhat annoyed and then said with a straight face. “I don’t care how you do it. I need to see a detailed report next Monday.”

President’s Office

Su Feng'ao was looking through documents while listening to Qin San who detailed what happened in the Marketing Department. He paused when Qin San mentioned that Mu Jiuyue had conflicts with the senior staff on her first day.

“President Su, is it necessary for me to give them a warning?” Qin San asked.

“A warning of what? Tell Yu Jie not to be partial to her.” Su Feng'ao said impassively.

It was already past eleven o’clock in the evening. Outside the French windows, the lights were flickering and people came and went in haste.

Su Feng'ao closed the document.

The Marketing Department was dark except for one place–––with the computer on, a desk piled with files.

When Su Feng'ao entered the room, Mu Jiuyue had fallen asleep leaning on the files, with a pen in her right hand. From time to time, she frowned, not in a sound sleep.

After entering the room, Su Feng'ao saw the bright screen firstly and raised his brows. ‘It’s the report on market analysis!’

Knocking on the desk, he woke up Mu Jiuyue, who was in a light sleep and thus easily woken by a sound. With a dazed look, she lifted her head and gazed at Su Feng'ao in bewilderment.

“The guard said that there is no one on the seventh floor, but a computer is still on. It might be a ghost. But it’s actually you.” Su Feng'ao deliberately emphasized the last word. Strangely, his voice sounded magnetic and attractive.

“Have you seen such a pretty ghost?” Mu Jiuyue argued after realizing what he said, throwing her chest out defiantly.

“You mean yourself?” Su Feng'ao said, as if he had heard something incredible.

“What’s wrong if it’s me? Don’t think you…” She glared at his pretty eyes. ‘He’s such a bad judge of people!’

“I don’t want to see a headline featuring the story of the haunted Su’s Group in newspaper.” Su Feng'ao changed his tone abruptly. Mu Jiuyue had intended to say something but instantly stopped.

Then he turned and strode away.

Mu Jiuyue was puzzled for a moment.

Thinking of the distance between Su’s house and the company and looking at the time, she threw into the bag the files which were put randomly on the desk, and then followed up.

‘Take the advantage, why not?’

In the following days, Mu Jiuyue ran all day long out of work.

“This is your result of working for a week?” Slamming the report on the desk, the director showed a sudden look, “Do it over.”

“Director, what has failed me? Please tell me.” Mu Jiuyue was reluctant to leave.

“Figure it out by yourself.” The director said coldly.

Mu Jiuyue looked aggrieved. How could she have handed over the report directly if she had identified the problems?

But the question was simply dismissed by the annoyed director. Taking back the files instantly, she promised before making any other statements. “Yes, I’ll do it now.”

It was a muggy day in City A. Mu Jiuyue glanced up at the cloudy sky, frowning deeply. It would rain fairly soon.

She looked at the questionnaires and materials in her hand, and found that only the suburbs were left unsurveyed.

Pains came to Mu Jiuyue from her ankles. She had been running around with the 7cm high-heel shoes for a whole day. ‘Go back, go back!’

She stood up, intending to return to the company by taxi. After walking for a while, she thought of the icy face of the director. Then she paused and drew a sigh.

‘I’d better complete the report and go home.’

Boom! Rain poured down with the roar of thunder and flashes of lightning. Ferocious winds lashed the streets, disfiguring trees along the road.

With her shoes in one hand and the file package pressed to her chest by the other, Mu Jiuyue hobbled in the rain.

“Will a hero come to me with his luxury car and take me away?” Mu Jiuyue was on the verge of crying out. She had anticipated all kinds of results, but not this: becoming a drowned rat.
